There is a Tin Machine song titled, “Crack City”. Maybe some of the lyrics can be modified…

Wow, Bernie is taking shots at Stan like it is a done deal they’re leaving. He seems very bitter.

    Thanks. Makes sense.

Is it the “IR done for the year” or the “IR may come back soon”?

OK, who did they let go to get him?

    Agree with Zack, here.

I think it is almost a certainty that they are going to sign a few castoffs from other teams, meaning they are going to have to cut / IR players that made the 53.

It would have been doubly cruel if Sam made the 53 and then was let go for a QB…

My hope is that the work he did here, and the way the team reacted to him will make it easy for a DE needful team to add him at least to their PS.

In that alternate universe where he didn’t come out, was he drafted higher and he on somebody’s 53 man roster today?

    Interesting predictions, Mack.

Your fingers to God’s ears (only slightly less gross than the traditional “Your lips to God’s ears” (why does it need ears in the first place?)).

You have 1 too many Wild Card teams in the NFC.

First, the NFC West. I see Seattle winning this by November. The 9ers have looked shaky this pre-season. I think injuries, coupled with defections and the suspension will have them down, maybe even out of the playoffs (at least I hope so). Of course I want the Rams to make the playoffs, but I still think we’re a year away. I wouldn’t be saying this if we had the Bradford – Hill tandem, but expecting Hill to lead us to the playoffs this year maybe t much to ask, unless our D is near the top of the league in total defense, take-aways and (most important) running yards allowed. I think Arizona is going to be good.

Seattle home field throughout playoffs, Arizona wild card.

    Eagles out of the East.

    Saints out of the South

Packers and Lions out of the North

I think you have Houston too high. I think the Colts take that division with ease.

Denver and the Chargers from the West

    Bengals from the North

Pats and Jets from the East

    How about Mike Vick?
    Maybe for a bubble DL and a 2015 5th and 6th?

I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure that IR players count against your cap.
I think what the person who wrote that didn’t understand is that the Rams were HOPING somebody claimed Pead so that they’d get rid of him and his cap number.

    Wow, that’s harsh.

I was driving home from North Shore MA last week and was listening to the Sports Hub 98.5 FM. The topic was, has Bellycheck (whom they all believe is still the best coach in the NFL hands down) slipped any compared to the other coaches in the league. They then did a thumbs up / thumbs down on the rest of the coaches, and for the thumbs up ones, weighed in on if they would be happy or sad if that coach took over the Patriots.
The voters were the hosts Felger and Massaratti and the Producer Beatle Bertran.
When they got to Fisher, one of them said, “This is a tough one”, but then Bertran shouted, “He’s been in the league a million years and doesn’t have anything to show for it.” They all voted thumbs down.

They all voted thumbs up on the rest of the coaches in our division, even Pete Carol, who apparently they HATED when he was coaching the Pats.

I know, they are just talking heads who are admittedly very biased pro-Patriots, but just another reference point for public opinion regarding the Fisher King…

    Crap!

8PM Eastern means it will run right through the season premiere of Dr. Who on BBC America.
Me, the wife and the kids are Who fanatics, and Saturday is exactly 2 days before we have to send my daughter off to college.

I guess I’ll be recording the game and watching the Who…

I am not SOKA, but I’ll discuss this with you.

It’s kind of a foregone conclusion that LA will get (at least one) NFL team.

    1) Why a re-tread? wouldn’t it be better with a fresh start (maybe the Bills become the LA Explosion)?

    2) If StL loses the Rams, would they EVER get another NFL team?

Like Zack, I really don’t have a dog in this fight; I root for the horns and always have. ESPN got me going during the last move with talk of the “Hartford Rams”. I would have been a season ticket holder!

Short of that, I side with stability. The team has roots in StL, and I think it is in their long term interest to stay there.

I wouldn’t be surprised if “Silent Stan” moves the team to LA, I just hope he doesn’t.

Win for the Fisher King. Tony Dungy is entitled to his opinion, as are those other Americans on the wrong side of history (AKA the Republicans)

Yes, Sam is the first in the open, but certainly not the last. I really hope he makes the team. I’d love to see him sack Payton Manning; if not that, a sack of his younger brother or any QB in our division will do…

I’m not thrilled with Schott, but I’m hoping continuity is going to do wonders for Mr. Bradford. I’ve never been a fan of the WCO that substitutes the short passing game for a running game, so I watched the first few games last year in horror. I really liked the emergence of the power running attack, and look forward to more of the same (and much less spread) this year.

I sir, take personal offense at the term “more than one way to skin a cat”.

    I find that morally reprehensible.

I, personally, prefer “more than one way to fuck a whore”.

See, whores get paid to have sexual relations. The poor cat? No say in how its fur gets ripped off its carcass. Much more PC IMO.

Schotty can’t call games scared. It’s not just him, it’s like every OC out there. I kind of miss the damn the torpedoes, let’s skin some cats and fuck some whores Mike Martz Offense. No fear. With this D, they can afford to miss on a few, as long as they hit on a bunch.

I liked Tony Banks as a player when he first started with the Rams. By the end, though, especially the last game I saw (ironically, I think it was against Baltimore), it was if he was moving in slow motion and everybody knew where the ball was going before it got there.

I still think Sam has the potential to be great, and it seems like they are building a team around him that will allow him to be great.

I can’t wait for this season; it should be fun.

Yikes. “Best running back duo in the NFL” is kind or reaching since we haven’t seen Tre in pads yet (and the Fisher King really dislikes fumbling…).

Not trying to rain on your parade and would love to see them be the dynamic duo, but I’d rather be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed.

I saw it last night (OK, really this morning) and it was awesome. My son was still awake so I made him come out and look. He snapped a few photos. It was very Harry Potterish with whispy clouds overhead. Looking forward to tonight.

    Thanks, all.

ER, I didn’t get your PM. Shortly after I registered, I saw that TD was one of the most active posters and bailed. I kind of used beer logic to find you guys; I went back to the last bar… um, site, that we used to hang at. After I joined the Buzz, I never posted back on the Huddle, but I knew WV did, so I went there to see if I could find him, and here I am. New Huddle site.

I just started reading the thread with X, weird and wacky stuff…

I even posted a post there with the title, “I’m a board orphan!”

That is interesting, especially the part about the flipping taking hundreds of years instead of instantaneously. The magnetic field protects us from a lot of nastiness; I always thought the flip would have to be instantaneous to keep a field in place, otherwise the planet would be cooked by solar radiation.

Brings to mind the old Chinese curse: “May you live in interesting times.”
