Watkins caught eight touchdowns, but outside of that statistic, he was underutilized. I don’t know why. Maybe not enough ball to go around to three good receivers, maybe Gurley was just too good to ignore, maybe Goff needs to improve his reads and be able to find him more often. I dunno. McVay’s offense in Washington included a very good TE. I would rather have a better TE in the starting lineup than Watkins. If we can afford both with re-signing Donald, Tru, Sullivan, and others, then great. If cap space becomes an issue, i would not re-sign Watkins.

Against the Seahawks he missed an extra pint and sent a kickoff out of bounds. This injury worsened to the point he can’t kick anymore this year. Crap.

If correct, if we win out, and somehow the Vikings lose to the Packers and Bears, plus the Panthers lose one of their last two games, we get the bye. Probably won’t happen, but it is nice to think about.

Yes, that looks right. It’s a longshot, but it is possible.

Kupp has been excellent and likely to get better with experience, barring injury.

Can you imagine his stats if he were drafted by the Pats?

IMO, the game turned on two plays: the missed strip sack by Quinn and the fumble by Kupp. Those two plays were both pretty early in the game and seems to inspire the Vikings and deflate the Rams.

Keenum has limited ability to avoid pressure. I expect the Vikings will try to avoid our pass rush and minimize the risk of Keenum throwing picks by calling a lot of short, quick pass plays. Short slants, curls, bubble screens and dump-offs to McKinnon, stuff like that. Personally, I do not respect their run game without Dalvin Cook. Murray is not fast nor elusive, and McKinnon is too small to run between the tackles. Rudolph has not seen many targets; Keenum likes Theilen and the backs. Diggs was out part of October with an injury, so I don’t know if he is 100% yet.

Defensively they are pretty solid all around. Linval Joseph is stout against the run; Griffen, Robison and Barr can rush the QB; Rhodes and Harrison are very good DBs; and Kendricks is a good LB. The LCB, with either Terrence Newman or Trey Waynes, is a weak spot compared to the rest. The speed of Woods, Watkins and Gurley is something the Vikings have not seen from their opponents so far.

Their special teams are nothing special. We have the better kickers hands down; coverage and return units are probably equal.

I expect the Rams will win by less than a TD, under 45 points in the game.

McVay just won his 7th game.

But until he proves he can do that year in and year out, I feel any comparisons to Jeff Fisher are premature.

It looked like they had the wrong helmets. Really mismatched, but still better than the Steelers and Packers throwback bumblebee/pumpkin uniforms.

Saw them twice, in Philadelphia at the old JFK stadium and in Minneapolis in the old Metrodome. Both great shows, love Pink Floyd!

Man….Is this like a big deal? I hope not.

Police found a gun in Westbrook’s vehicle that was not registered to him. Depends on whether it was loaded, whether it is a stolen gun, whether it was ever used in a crime, but mostly depends on Westbrook’s criminal history. Likely not a big thing though he has some explaining to do.

The Panthers and Seahawks both ran the ball over 30 times against the 49ers, so the passing stats were lower than you might expect. I think based on what we have seen so far, this game depends more on Gurley and whatever we might get from the other RBs and not so much on Goff. Newton threw for two and Wilson for one TD, so I kind of expect a modestly successful game from Goff, but looking for a bigger game from Gurley and the RBs.

    Wouldn’t this be interesting if…

…the league drops one or two preseason games and adds just one more game to the regular season, but, that one additional game is a neutral site game for both teams in a place like London or China or Mexico City. You know, like a required missionary trip!

    I expect…
Carlos Hyde will rush for well over 100 yards.
Brian Hoyer will be forced into making a couple of critical errors by the Rams pass rush.
Jared Goff and Todd Gurley will have solid but not spectacular stat lines.
Tavon Austin will score, but there will be more buzz about the Rams rookie pass catchers.
Johnny Hekker will put three punts inside the 20.
    Rams win.

I work in transportation so I take some issue with the portrayal of costs associated with using public transportation.

Where I live in a medium-large metropolitan area, I can purchase a 31-day unlimited ride GoTo card for $85, making my daily commute and occasional grocery/doctor/other trips for less than $2.50 a day. I can use transfers to get off the bus, do something, and re-board the bus within 2 hours and finish my trip without any additional cost. I think the author was using the cash fare, but there are good discounts available.

No doubt it is difficult being poor. When I got my first job and started paying back student loans, I had to ration my dinnertime mac and cheese and hot dogs to get through to the next paycheck. There are better ways to save money, or not to waste money. A good public transportation network can provide people with access to jobs and education opportunities for much less money than driving, though it is usually less convenient.

Mac, I am glad to help. Moving your family this far is a big deal. Knowing that the extra information I provide is helpful to you and your wife makes me happy.

The kitchen was very nice; stainless steel appliances, good size island for preparing food or eating, nice granite counter-tops and big pantry. It’s big enough for two people to work there at the same time, but maybe not three. I think there is enough cabinet storage, including the cabinets in the island, but it seems a little short on counter-top space. I did not turn on a faucet to check the water pressure, I wish I had done that. We live on a hill and our water pressure is good, so I don’t think that will be a problem at this house.

Another thing I want to mention is the parking area in front of the garage. The house has a three-car garage, but the parking or turn-around space in front of the garage is kind of small. I would not be comfortable backing my car out of the garage and down the hill to the street. Not sure how any vehicles you will have, but maneuvering your car in that space to turn around will take some practice.

    Thanks!

    Hi Mac,

I went to the open house on Sunday and looked around. Not sure that I have much to add to the information you already have from Zillow, but here are a few things.

The property has a steep driveway leading up to the house. Not an issue outside the winter months, but get this, the driveway is heated! It has a heated driveway to melt the snow and ice, thought he realtor said the driveway faces south (it does) and the sun melts the driveway anyway.

Three bedrooms upstairs, a mother-in-law suite on the main floor (added in 2007) and two bedrooms downstairs. Sitting rooms on each floor, I believe, so everyone can have private space. Big living room area with double sided gas fireplace on the main floor.

It has one of the biggest decks I have ever seen, and the flooring is composite material. Small pond on the property and the realtor said deer routinely walk through the area. It is in a wooded area and quite private.

I asked him about a mechanical thing I saw in the basement, never seen it before, Thermo-something. The realtor thought it was a water pump to maintain water pressure in the kitchen and bathrooms since the house is on a hill.

I did notice a few areas where the house is not finished, or could have been finished better. Things like a loose threshold to one of the bathrooms, nicks in the sheetrock, a lot of joint compound spread poorly in a corner, Pergo flooring in the basement with a little damage, a closet door looks like it was a larger size but cut to fit the closet, so it looks odd. Stuff like that.

Realtor said the house has been on the market for 60 days and the sellers recently dropped the price by $40,000.

From there, it’s about 20 miles to the VA Hospital, about 30 minutes drive.

    later!

That’s close to where we live and its right on my way to a meeting tomorrow evening in Newport. Nice area, hilly and wooded. Close to I-494 but not too close.

And hells yeah! We have to get together for “a little lunch” when you are in town!

    Mac!

I forgot about your housing search in the Twin Cities! If you have ANY questions about the neighborhoods where you are looking, please let me know.

We live close to the airport and VA hospital; maybe 20 minutes by car. Transit is really not an option from our area. Here is a listing close to the Snowman residence: Inver Grove Heights home

This house has five bedrooms: another IGH house

    Here’s another: IGH house 3

OK, here is a six bedroom house, more what you are looking for and close to the VA hospital: 6 BR in Mendota Heights

And this one in Eagan: Eagan 6 BR

Please let me know how I can help!

I can’t take this guy seriously until he makes Marshal.

For me, the amount of gold in the uniform is distracting. It’s not enough or it’s too much. It’s a token color variation. Either take it out or add more.
