I hope that their offense can show up in GB.
I’ll guess Pack – 20, Rams 21. Go Rams.
sdramParticipantSo, how are the Rams doing so far this season?
I watched them struggle after the huge yet fading Seahag victory. Could be the highlight of their season – so far it is.
I certainly hope that their offense and particularly their ol can show up in AZ – if that happens, they have a chance. Not much of a chance I’d say, but a chance. They have to get a solid running game going. It’s what they were built to do and the only chance they have to be successful I believe.
I’ll guess Cards – 20, Rams 21. Go Rams.
July 31, 2015 at 1:54 pm in reply to: time for the "barring injuries" season record predictions #27801sdramParticipantI believe my predictions have a bearing on how they finish – or maybe I’m just being you know, superstitious. Coincidence? I sincerely doubt that they could lose for so many seasons during my adult life without it being some sort of punishment directed at me by some sort of greater power of NFL football. Plus, whenever I predicted a winning record, they sucked.
So, I’m saying 1-15 or maybe 0-16. They got nuthun honey. I’m always wrong, right?
sdramParticipanthmmmm, must be celebrating that notable achievement from 1194 – Sverre is crowned King of Norway.
Royal cake and ice cream perhaps?
sdramParticipantSorry for your loss.
sdramParticipantWe moved to Los Angeles from South Dakota in 1967 when I was 10 years old. And, after a two year courtship with George and Roman and Merlin and Deacon and the boys I watched my hero, and Augustana graduate Les Josephson explode on the scene in 1969 with 461 yards rushing on 124 carries and was hooked like a wicked Tuna.
They broke my little 13 year old heart for the first time at the end of that season – fooking Viking scum made sure of that. Then, they did it again in the early and mid 70’s with those great teams that couldn’t win the big one – the fooking Viking scum won the mud bowl. Then, again in 79 with the SB loss, then again…..
I’d like to see them have a truly great 10 year franchise QB. They had that briefly with Warner and seemingly peed that down their leg. That was my hope with SB but because of injuries, front office upheaval, and economics it seems like he never had a legitimate shot to be that. Maybe Foles, maybe the new kid… well see.
sdramParticipantCareer winning percentage of 52.4% about sums it up for me. He’s as good as his player personnel dept, assistant coaches, and players IMO – about like most NFL coaches.
IMO –
He’s pragmatic enough but he’s not very innovative. He handles roster problems and personnel problems well. He manages the game clock and situations well but he’s not one for making big in game strategy adjustments and seems to let his coordinators handle that aspect.
sdramParticipantSounds to me like he wants another big pay day before he rides off into the sunset. He’s been around a while – 10 years. I’m not sure how he fits Fisher’s run first – big boy OG, youth model or how a big deal would work at this point.
Still, I’d like to think that he could be this teams Timmerman if he’s willing to play until his body quits him. But, I don’t know that for certain.
sdramParticipantI actually take what the Rams did at face value – they could have done nothing. They did the right thing. And, for the Rams and Stan I’m sure it’s a drop in the bucket.
Our good poocher is a four year old yeller lab – named Sunny Boy – he’s half Slobberer and half Don Juan. He loves everything except gophers. He wants to bite gophers in the worst way – fortunately they’ve all been smarter and quicker than he is. He lives to slobber and slobbers to live. His favorite things are to lay his big old wet mug on your body and force the slobber to ooze and coat everything it comes into contact with. He’s also an expert shedder – there is dog hair everywhere in our house this time of year. Anyway, he’s my buddy and I look forward to the day I can stay home with him each and everyday.
sdramParticipantWow, what a classy move by the Rams, though. Have to acknowledge and appreciate that.
Enh. If you had Kroenke’s billions wouldn’t you do the same thing?
Al Capone gave more to charity than anyone, during his Chicago days.
I refuse to be impressed.

Good PR can cost some money. Turning this thing into all about me, Stan should do also something for the long suffering Ram fans – like me – who haven’t seen their team in the playoffs for what – 12 or so seasons now.
By the way, I think I saw you on a Dr Phil marathon last week.
My dog is tired – he worked hard this afternoon helping me mow the yard for a couple hours by following my lawn tractor every foot of the way and sniffing every bush multiple times.
sdramParticipantForget they got heem. Looked good in the highlights. Assuming Mannion is a lock in the 3 slot and Foles is the starter, he looks like he’ll give Davis all he can handle in terms of competition for the backup job.
sdramParticipantHappy Birthday Top Shelf Rams Fan!!
sdramParticipantI’m wrong about a lot of stuff so I’m not sure what was the most. I thought the offense would be better in general despite Bradford being out for a second season. I thought Tre Mason would be awesome. I thought the defense would be better than they were. I think a lot of these things not happening were a result of a combination of things. 1st is the OL breaking down – Long out, Saffold writhing down on the field – carted off – only to return later, Wells and Joseph deteriorating play, a rookie at LT who was supposed to get to season at guard.
Quick was coming on I thought. He had a solid role until he got hurt – hope he can come back from it. Austin not being much of a factor – he’s explosive but he’s tiny. And, the way they zone him seemed to keep him bottled up pretty well. Sean Hill was in and out. The defense was slow to respond to Williams.
Anyhoo – I’m hoping for a decent season with the thought that they can contend for a playoff spot with the talent they have. All the young veterans should be better – we will see.
sdramParticipantI have no idea what the fee will be. 500 M might be on right the money. But, doing the rule thumb 7 year doubling rule for future worth compared to the 29 million from 20 years ago would put it approximately 100 million and then double it for the bigger market value -glamour factor would make it about 200 million. I’m sure that anyway you slice it, it won’t be cheap. I’d guess Stan’s money will likely buy votes – as per usual.
I’m getting ‘more’ mentally lazy in my old age. Actually, the doubling rule of thumb thing would have it at 30 X 2 = 60 X 2 = 120 X 2 = 240 so 240 Million is approximate answer and then add to it whatever the LA market glamour factor. If one doesn’t think it’s worth much, let the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim owner know that too.

sdramParticipantIt has been estimated that the relocation fee for a Rams move back to LA could be in excess of $500 million for team owner Stan Kroenke.
So…JT is using the passive voice here because he doesn’t know WHO made the $500 million estimate.
That number is insane. That is more than half the value of the Rams, Raiders, and probably Chargers. And there is no way that the Raiders or Chargers could afford anything like that number. Kroenke has that kind of money, but that doesn’t make the number sensible.
I don’t know how they can fairly ask more of the Rams than of the other two teams, and clearly that number shuts out Davis and Spanos from the market. Hell, they don’t even have enough money yet to go halvsies on a stadium, never mind a relocation fee of any size at all. I just don’t see how Spanos and Davis come out on top, in spite of what JT wrote.
When it comes to decision time, Kroenke’s project is more glamorous, it’s ready to go right now, and he’s got the money. If money is the language of the NFL, Kroenke is the one who speaks that language best.

sdramParticipantMay 22, 2015 at 9:52 pm in reply to: New St. Louis Rams Stadium May Be Built On Ancient Native American City #25123sdramParticipantWe’re surrounded by native American sites here in SD and if anything is unearthed while digging anything – construction stops until it gets sorted out. How long depends on the significance of what was unearthed and how big it is.
May 15, 2015 at 4:29 pm in reply to: New Brady thread (Dansby suspects foul play from 2008 game in New England) #24610sdramParticipantI’m guessing they’ll sue the patsies, write tell all books, get a reality series, and end up on ESPN with a two hour daily talk show.
And, now ladies and gentlemen – it’s time for the “Deflators”
Anyway, the Patriots should put a notice on their bulletin board – Notice to all employees “Stop F—ing Cheating, OK”.
It’s hard for me to get excited about all of this but it sure is fun to watch the “cheatin, f—ing Patriots” wiggle around on the end of that hook and their fans try to help them spit it out.
May 15, 2015 at 4:18 pm in reply to: Rams almost took La’el Collins in 7th round? Turns out, not #24608sdramParticipantI think they should have done that. But, I’m going to jump on a limb and say they were likely trying to avoid any chance of a media barrage like the Sam thing rom last year.
sdramParticipantI feel they can be better than last season if they can all stay healthy and particularly Foles, the OL is functional or better, and Quick comes back healthy and stays healthy.
Quick, Britt, Austin, Bailey, Sasser and Givens who has been almost invisible the past season and a half. Then there’s Cook and Kendricks and Gurley and Mason.
So, my question about the offense is can they not have some huge learning curve the first six weeks with their new OC – QB – RB – 3/5 OL. I’m guessing we’ll see some growing pains early.

Rams release DE/TE Mason Brodineby Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
It wasn’t bad enough that defensive end/tight end Mason Brodine had to sit out last season with a fracture ankle. Now he has no team to play for, ESPN is reporting.
Brodine has been released by the Rams. He did not play a game for them in three years after managing to get into two games for Oakland in 2011.

Report: Rams sign WR Daniel Rodriguez, LS Tyler Ottby Sean d’Oliveira | CBSSports.com
The Rams signed wide receiver Daniel Rodriguez and long snapper Tyler Ott on Wednesday, reports NBCSports.com. Rodriguez was an undrafted free agent, while Ott played for the Patriots last season.
sdramParticipantWell, my only hope is that the Rams opponents never forget Havenstein either.
So, have you ever left a store and walked all over the parking lot looking for your car and then after too long of a time remembered that you drove your wife’s car to the store? Or, was it just me?

sdramParticipantLinemen in camp now:
Barnes (C)
Jones (C, & G?)
Rhaney (C)
Wang (C)Saffold (G)
Reynolds (G, & T?)
Washington (G)
Bond (G)
Brown (G)
Donnal (G, & T?)
Wichman (G)Robinson (T)
Baker (T)
Darrell Williams (T)I assume you left out Havenstein because he’s not in camp yet?
sdramParticipantI like that he likes “kicking ass”
Hope he can play.
sdramParticipantI didn’t really interact with TD but for a couple of football related posts on the old huddle board. He loved the Rams. But, I knew he was fighting cancer from lurking about the ROD board a while back. Peace to his family and friends. RIP TD.
May 12, 2015 at 7:35 pm in reply to: Tom Brady Suspended Four Games + Patriots Docked 2 Draft Picks #24479sdramParticipantToo bad they weren’t all suspended for the season – Brady, Belichek, Kraft, and all the NE fans everywhere. I vote no football in New England this season and make em all walk the plank too the wretched, scurvy, cheatin, low-lifes they be.
What they received is really almost a slap on the wrist considering the amount of money that franchise generates. The only real thing is the suspension which will likely be appealed to two. Seems to me that they’ll save over a million not having to pay a first round draft pick.
sdramParticipantThe Rams are so far under the radar. They do have what looks like a tough schedule. If healthy, I think they can contend for the division.
sdramParticipantIt’s of course ludicrously early, but…
position count:
CB
DB
LB
DT 1
DE 3OT 2
OG & OC 1
TE
QB 2
WR 1It’s not that early – I think we should do draft grades now for the 2016 draft. I’m gonna go ahead and give the Rams a B+ – A- for 2016.
sdramParticipantUndrafted OT La’el Collins questioned by police in murder case
By Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
May 4, 2015 6:54 pm ET
Former LSU tackle and undrafted free agent La’el Collins was questioned by police in Baton Rouge, La. on Monday. The 21-year-old, however, is still not being considered a suspect in the murder investigation of his former girlfriend Brittney Mills, Baton Rouge (La.) Police said.
Collins sat with investigators for over an hour.
“There is that possibility of more questioning of Mr. Collins,” Baton Rouge Police public information officer Don Coppola said Monday per the USA Today. “No one can be ruled out until an arrest has been made.”
Mills was shot to death late last month and through his relationship with her, Collins was requested by police to give any additional details. Because of the cloud of uncertainty, Collins, once a projected first-round pick in the NFL Draft, was not selected over the weekend.
“The investigation is going to continue, and La’el is going to now start making efforts to get his football career back on track,” Collins’ attorney Jim Boren said. “He answered all the questions they had. Every question. We didn’t claim the fifth (refusal to answer a question as it may incriminate). We answered every single question. We gave them all the information they asked for, and he’s ready to get his life back.”
May 4, 2015 at 9:30 pm in reply to: now that the dust has settled a bit, how do you feel about this draft? #24075sdramParticipantI like Girley just fine even though they already had Tre other RB’s. Gurley has more potential than any back the LA Rams have drafted since Jerome Bettis.
But, I’m not sure about the rest of their draft – they drafted four OL and they already had six or seven on the team. Where are they gonna put all of them? Do they have enough helmets and pads for all of them? Can they afford to feed them? Do they have enough coaches to order them around? And, the most important question is can any of them actually block? Fisher must have over heard that old adage – if you draft one mauler, you might as well draft three more.
