Thanks – I caught a replay of the hit Goff took.

On the sideline shot, my expert lip reading skills saw Goff say “he knocked the wind out of me.”

“Several months ago, a foreign policy expert went to advise Donald Trump,” Scarborough said. “And three times he asked about the use of nuclear weapons — three times he asked. At one point, ‘If we have them, why can’t we use them?’”

Trump also said this last week “Try me, what the hell do you have to lose?”

It’s my impression that Scarborough loathes\distrusts Clinton as well. He was railing about the foundation and Bill’s role the other day. But, I think WV is right on – Trump is toast – he knows it, his surrogates know it, Hillary knows it, the repubs know it.

The press is ready to put their nails in his candidate coffin and then apply for employment with the new media empire he’s building.

Don’t mess with the kings stag. At least not without paying the proper fees and doing all the paper work. My state deems every thing they can control as a revenue source and little else.

Same laws here but not many mooses laying around – a lot of deer and skunks and raccoons and buzzards. They put marker flags on them to mark them and then leave them to rot for a week or two. Buzzards got to eat too.

If a decent buck is laying around someone might cut their horns off – a lot of hunters collect piles of them do display in their houses and yards. In the cooler months they do pick some up to harvest that delectable road kill meat to hand out to people who have signed up to receive this benefit. Many people really don’t really like venison so it’s not a huge thing. A moose can have 500 to 600 lbs of meat – these deer are around here are about 75 to 100 lbs if there’s no damage. So it’s a pretty big difference. We don’t have a moose lady doing the good work of collecting road kill to give to the poor that I’m aware of.

The Zesto does have a strange amount of popularity – probably crooked in some sweet innocent way. The grandkids lobby me to hit the Zesto every day they’re in town. They were offering coconut sherbert as the flavor of the week – I tried it for the last time.

I know a lobbyist for petroleum distributors(gas stations) in SD. She’s a Viking fan as well so that’s already two strikes. She invited me and the wife to the Governor’s inauguration a few years back. I politely thanked her and told her I probably wouldn’t fit in much.

Makes me envision video’s of crappy surfers trying to ride giant waves.

I had a history professor in college that one day jokingly exclaimed “Your parents ruin the first half of your life and then your kids ruin the second half!” I’m not sure why this comes to mind but the hopelessness of this story is kind of overwhelming.

So, here in my own little world I’m gonna do something to make me feel good this afternoon. I’ll take the available grandkids to the Zesto for ice cream.

Direct TV had the Rams listed as a 9 PM CST start on NFL network – I checked the channel at 8:30 PM or so and it was already about the end of the first quarter – and about when Goff entered the game. Not the end of the world but still – made me whine a little bit. Had a hard time understanding Marshall, Eric D, and Rutigliano’s broadcast – most of the time they seemed to be talking about Golf and his development but with my 75% hearing loss it was difficult to understand what they were referring to. The switching back and forth to the indi game was a pain in the butt too.

I thought I noticed that the Rams seemed to play their starting secondary much later in the game than the starting front 7. It will be interesting to see this weeks snap count listing. The secondary looked to be a bit under manned and disorganized to me. Tru got beat again down the sidelines.

I was happy they kept Goff in most of the game. He looks to me like he needs the reps just to acclimate to his teammates\receivers and real time situations. What about Quick? Another drop or two and then what looked like a few solid catches. Seems like he wasn’t ready for the speed or quick pitch nature of a couple of Goff’s passes I thought Goff did fine except for the half ass scramble to his left that could have resulted in another pick and the fumble. Should have tucked and ducked both times. But, you know, a competitor never gives up easily.

So, when I woke up at 5:30 AM with a quad cramp, those are so much fun. Anyway after I was able to breathe again I watched the first quarter that I had taped again at 4 AM. Rams run d looked better than last week, pass d looked kind of shitty. Alex Smith played most of the first half as did the Rams secondary from that I could tell. Smith won that battle. Tru is allowing receivers to get behind him. That’s not a good thing.

    Anyway – onto week 3.

As we meander towards November, the race for the biggest liar is turning into the vicious nudge near Newark.

Latest left hook landed tonight by NY Times. Can the Donald land another right to Hillary’s soft mid-section? Can Trump keep his toupe from denting? Will he smote her crookedness viciously and with extremeness again tomorrow? Will he be able to keep our national secrets? Perhaps the start of the NFL season save us all?

    Just more interesting stuff. “http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/17/us/politics/trump-chris-christie-casinos.html?_r=0′

By the time Chris Christie became governor of New Jersey, the state’s auditors and lawyers had been battling for several years to collect long-overdue taxes owed by the casinos founded by his friend Donald J. Trump.

The total, with interest, had grown to almost $30 million. The state had doggedly pursued the matter through two of the casinos’ bankruptcy cases and even accused the company led by Mr. Trump of filing false reports with state casino regulators about the amount of taxes it had paid.

But the year after Governor Christie, a Republican, took office, the tone of the litigation shifted. The state entertained settlement offers. And in December 2011, after six years in court, the state agreed to accept just $5 million, roughly 17 cents on the dollar of what auditors said the casinos owed….

Mannion appears to me to have gained some weight after being drafted last year – so he should be worth even more. That equates to less per pound perhaps but more overall.

Fun preseason game for me. Really liked the grass field. Can’t help but think that many of the injuries to the Rams for the past how many seasons were partly due to the EJ turf.

Coming out party for Mannion and Spruce. Along with Goff making some nice throws. That was nice to see. Now, the Rams do have some QB talent. Loved watching Malcolm Brown rumble.

Dak Prescott and Dallas offense punched what appeared to be mostly the Rams first team Defense in the face in the first half. Everything they did worked. Hopefully, it was about game planning.

It was my first ever exposure of Goff. He looked awful comfortable to me in his first game. Dallas was bringing the wood on D and the Rams appeared to be playing their second string on the o-line. Nothing preseason-like in the Dallas defensive effort. Once Goff gets a bit more settled in, he has a chance to be special. Strong and accurate arm.

Looking forward to the next game. Want to see more of the young WR’s – and Gurley.

    Game pass is here.

    https://www.nfl.com/gamepass

I have had Game Pass for the past 2 seasons… this is a good package to have, IMO, a better value and option than Sunday Ticket, which I had from 1997 through 2014.

BTW, when I cancelled DTV and Sunday Tix in 2014, DTV does not allow nor have an option for automated nor online cancellations. I had to do it via the phone with a DTV agent… it took 67 mins for me to cancel DTV via the phone. I was livid…..

I cancelled the DTV Sunday ticket a few days ago. Only took about 5 minutes on the phone. Called them about 9 AM on Monday morning.

Last month, one of the DVR receivers we’re renting was malfunctioning and was responding to all incoming phone calls as a fax machine would – had to call AT@T tech support several times to get it diagnosed and corrected by a visit from a repairman which cost about $100 bucks. Called DTV asked them what they could do and they told the wife it was between us and AT&T. So, I’m gonna explore other options is what I say. I’ll try to do the NFL.Com option for the Rams this season – some things I can’t give up. As soon as I find a viable alternative to the DTV satellite tv, I’m gonna stop DTV. Have been averaging 160/month for the past 8 years. One big problem is we live in the middle of nowhwere in a rural setting so there is no broadband connection available. Other big problem is we love the DVR. I tape almost everything I watch. So, we’ll see how it goes.

Since I’m cursed to have to live in both the Bronco’s and Vikings broadcast area’s will be able to see three of the four preseason games live.

I don’t think there will be a lot of no shows at this football game. Whether they are there in the 4th quarter or not….

Sure – the 1st game so probably not – Angelino’s and Ram fans – old and new – are all excited about the Los Angeles Rams being in back in LA. I’d enjoy going to a Ran game in the coliseum again. It’s been 45 years since I did that. But, I think I’ll wait until after they move to their new home.

90,000 ? Holy shit. That should be a thread all by itself.

    w
    v

That’s a lot of preseason fans. Two things come to mind.

One is I think they’ll be very big until they’re not the new kid in town anymore. Kind of like the new restaurants in the town I live in – they’re popular until everybody eats there a few times. Many of those fans will get introduced to the NFL’s style of money grubbing.

The second is I watch the Dodgers almost every evening and Vinny reads the attendance figures about the 7th or 8th inning. I’m thinking – there’s rarely even half that many people in the park – he’s listing the paid attendance which includes season ticket holders and they seemingly only show up when Kershaw starts or the Giants are in town.

I didn’t pay much attention to the primaries – I was busy flossing or something. Now that I’ve retired I’m catching up on all kinds of stuff. Next week, I’m going to re-grout the bathroom tile in the guest room.

So the town hall or whatever with the crying baby yesterday. Seemed like he thought about his initial response which may or may not have been sarcastic – I couldn’t tell. And then he told the lady to get her crying baby out of the room in front of a room full of his supporters. How does that help him in any way? Shouldn’t he try to be little bit more charming when the room is full of people who think they want to vote for him. He wants them to vote for him right?

He could have held and smiled at the baby – kissed the baby – breathed on the baby – or even just ignored it. Instead this predisposed villain kind of pops out at almost every turn. His whole campaign seems like a scam for some reason to me.

Cool – my preference is a version of the old blue and white’s.

Most of you know this but after Rosenbloom bought the rams, they had the change from Blue and White to the Blue and Gold scheme that went to St Louis. For the new at that time uni design, there was supposedly an open contest in the LA papers that asked the readers\fans for their artistic rendition of what they thought the new uni’s should look like. There was an actual blank drawing of a player one could color and send in. Can’t remember what the 1st prize award was.

So, like many other 14ish year old ram fans, I sent mine in with the other 100k or so entries. The winner or winners were of course actual professional artists who submitted multiple mockups of both the home and road uni’s. Maybe my memory is faded 40 some odd years later but mine was actually pretty close to what they went with. I had looked at Washington’s uniforms at the time which I thought were really cool and used that as a template for what I thought the Rams should be like. Going back to bnw seems like a win. I was kind of hoping they’d at least split time with a couple of different versions – old and new – maybe that will still happen. White helmets with the old style blue horns.

Fisher – I’ve always kept him at arms length. But I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed with the player acquisition strategies and particularly these last two offseasons. Snisher keeps punching back in my mind. He tries, fails, and comes back and tries harder having just been slapped in the face by his own hand.

And, the NFC West has been no cakewalk the past 4 seasons. I find myself rooting for him to succeed – maybe year 5? The schedule looks daunting. It’s their annual challenge really. If the OL can develop into an above average unit, they have a great shot at being above 500 even with a rookie QB and a shaky kicker.

I feel the same about the TE/WR.

DL, LB, and DB are also positions of need to some degree or another I would think. I think they do pretty well in the later rounds and udfa period finding quality kids that can stick and contribute so we’ll see.

I’m excited beyond words that the Rams are doing this. This late April draft schedule is agonizing and I’m on pins and needles that it works out.

I prefer Carson Wentz for a few reasons – a shade bigger arm, shade faster, shade smarter and being a consistent winner works for me. I feel he has more upside. I have this inclination that nobody out works Carson Wentz.

I have nothing against Jared Goff if he’s the Rams choice and feel that he would make a great QB.

I feel that which ever guy the Rams pick has an OL that’s about to gel, a stud running back and a solid defense.

All that said, my favorite defensive player in the draft is Buckner from Oregon. I hope the 49ers don’t draft him.
