You’ll be jealous to know that one of my neighbors is out back playing a tuba.

Yes–I’ve got free tuba music for New Years Eve!!!!!

    Hah!

2016–going out on a high note.

    Now that’s funny.

    Did you enjoy your evening?

Happy New Year Huddle board…good things are on the horizon.

At this point if Fisher were still the HC and the staff was all intact, I think I would be feeling that is was going to be another wasted year.

Now that Stan has decided to go in another direction, I feel kinda excited to see how it plays out and have a glimmer of hope going forward.

I know the team has holes but I also see plenty of talent, much more than 4 wins. A new HC to put the pieces together is extremely important IMO.

Sometimes it’s not about the X’s and O’s but sometimes it is. After watching this offense all year, I’m convinced alot of the issues was the X’s and O’s.

He had more success than Linehan and McDaniels but ultimately he was a failure. He was handed a team that should have been a dynasty and ran it into the ground.

I agree…I like Martz, but sometimes a great coordinator doesn’t pan out as a head coach.

Martz is a brilliant offensive mind, maybe one of the best in the business…but he also had his misfires as a head coach.

I wouldn’t mind Shanahan with his dad and Martz as an O-coordinator but I just don’t think it would work out. Martz is very head strung and could he work in a subordinate role to a young up and comer? I’m not so sure, but I would love to find out.

The Rams are the only team in the NFL that the dam niners can beat.

This team is just bad…a bad football team.

Can’t wait for next week…a tweak here and another there…bingo.

2016 was bad, but for me it doesn’t change 2012-15.

Even up until when Fisher got fired, I have been pretty much, “I don’t care if he stays or goes.” I find that I am a bit relieved that he did get fired, because we get a new set of eyes on the team.

    Yea…me too

I’m not so sure I would have remained a fan if the Rams rebranded when they left Cali all those years a go…and I don’t have any ties to Cali.

I can tell you I would definitely NOT remain a fan if the Rams rebranded. I probably would not remain a fan if they kept the name but got rid of the horns.

See what I mean? Why would they want to alienate these fans? I could understand a little more if it was, say a cross country move and those fans wouldn’t be spending much at the games…but this move isn’t very far and the die-hards will still make the trip IMO.

Thanks. I want him but not at a crazy cost. And the Saints will want too much.

I kinda think the same thing. I have a lot of respect for SP, but I also don’t think this is a 1 man race.

It doesn’t appear as 1 of them has taken the reins. You know the saying…when you have 3 RG’s you don’t have 1.

Wouldnt you say the Oline has been the biggest disappointment this year?

    A healthy-disaster.

    w
    v

    I would say that

Grob has had his 3 years and is not a LT IMO
Saffold was terrible for the first 8-9 games then started to play decent as a guard
Barnes is a decent back-up emergency starter type of guy
RG has a rotating door of now 3 guys
RT I believe has a solid Hav possibly still playing hurt.

They neglected the O-line in the draft then hit it hard hoping to hit with one. To be fair that was their draft strategy to emphasize an area and hit it multiple times in the draft, and I really kinda like that strategy. I kinda had fun trying to figure out what area they were gonna target.

I agree…I think they should keep the Chargers brand.

San Diego isn’t that far down the road and they will need some of those guys to make the trip for their home games.

Sure, they’re gonna lose some fans due to the move, but experience has shown us some fans will remain loyal no matter the local and with them just a hop and a skip away…will make time for the trip.

I’m not so sure they remain if the team rebrands.

I would rather watch Goff. I don’t think them playing Manion has anything to do with the concussion but more to do with giving Goff some time.

Goff is the future and I want to see him play….is that the best thing for him? I don’t know, I’m just being selfish I guess.

I think he had an idea. We started seeing things the last few weeks that we never saw in Fisher previous years…I’m specifically referring to the disagreement he and GW got in to, but not limited to that.

I think everybody on the team had been feeling the heat leading up to the hatchet job.

He is sounding like a guy in search of another shot to run a team…we’ll see.

The Niner game is our Superbowl. No matter how hard I try, I just can’t see the good guys losing to them again.

So, I guess I will be speechless and become a zombie for a couple of days…then I’ll go in the backyard and dig a hole.

Grob absent this week huh? I think the next guy has to look at moving him inside and bring in a FA band-aide until they can get their LT…unless Battle can play, which I have no idea because that’s a secret as tightly kept as the D-day invasion.

Hav appears slow to get out…is he still hurting? I’m starting to think Hav has been battling his injury all year and it is making him just a step slower.

Good to see Barnes getting a decent grade…I would consider him in a back-up type role next year…3M for a back-up might be too much but they could move on because it doesn’t appear there is any dead money. Next guy might just keep him because LT is a bigger need…Grrrr.

Meh…That article read like just speculation because of Stan’s fascination with the Patriot way. I’m sure they’ll kick the tires but I don’t think this has a big chance at working out. Josh knows he has 1 more shot and will want a great chance to succeed. The Rams have given up a lot to get Goff and if Josh doesn’t believe in him he might decide to pass.

Shanny is interesting me more and more and I think he would be great for Goff. He might be willing to take on this job and I wouldn’t even mind if he decided to bring his dad in, in some capacity….Dad always could get a running game going wherever he was at.

I still like Gruden but I think Shanny is overtaking him at this point.

I reserve the right to continually change my mind daily from now until they hire the new guy.

Seattle beat the Rams at the most important aspect of the game…they won the decisive battle of the red flags. Once they had that in the bag, the game was all but over.

Goff tossed a couple of nice passes and a lot of ugly ones. Not convinced either way on him, still way too early to make a call but I would like to start to see a lot of good throws and a few ugly ones.

Seattle out special teamed the special teams head coach. Cooper is not a good kick off returner and they made a huge gaff assuming Seattle was gonna play it straight on the fake punt.

Grob is lost if the D throws a stunt at him

Havenstein has trouble on the outside speed rushers…looks like slow stiff feet…I had to check his jersey name to ensure it didn’t say Frankenstein.

Speaking of Center, I want to draft Pat Elflien with our first pick, which is our 2nd round pick. He is the Center for Ohio State.

Yep..I’ve already started looking at them…Not sure if I want to part with a high 2nd on him yet or not.

Good news is it looks like we’ll have a lot to talk about between now and draft time.

Really? I was always under the impression KD was the wizard behind the cap.

If it’s not KD, then who is responsible for contracts and cap…and what exactly is KD’s job then?

There was a revolving door of coaches during Fishers reign. I don’t believe he ever was able to get continuity on offense and until GW came along the defense as well.

I would have liked more attention to the O-line. For 3 years running, at draft time, I had a list of available centers yelling names at the TV….maybe Jack would hear me and draft them.

I still believe Fisher is a good football coach and I was thrilled when they landed him, but I can’t fault management for going in a different direction.

I just have a bad feeling about Thursday. Rams are reeling after the hangman visited the team and coming off of 2 lackluster performances.

Some would say a wounded animal is most dangerous…I say hogwash.

Seattle is playing for playoff contention. The Rams are playing with clouded brains with an Ensign at the helm of the ship.

Seattle wants to put a beat down on the Rams because they aren’t too happy about hearing how the Rams can beat the Hawks but nobody else.

I see another 4th quarter facing reserves in the making.

(On the extent of Harkey’s injury)

“I probably shouldn’t (get into it). I will say this, from a special teams coach’s perspective, Cory Harkey is one of the greatest guys I’ve ever coached, just a leader, a player. Just a little shout out to ‘Hark,’ a great man.”

That sounds real bad…as in, possible career ending bad.

Just speculation on my part…and a little Jedi mind reading.

grob got a 79. or a C+. slightly above average. decent. he also happened to score higher than anybody else on offense. which is slightly depressing.

    I look at a grade of 70 as a decent game, or to put a letter grade a C, 80 = B, 90=A.

I’m not too impressed with his score yet. I said before the game he was gonna score high because of the matchup. I thought the benching at NO was a strategic benching, because after that game his next 2 opponents were not that good. He has a tougher matchup Thursday against Bennet who burned him for a sack in their last meeting.

He needs to continue to post 70+ grades for the rest of the year IMO.

Word out there was that FISHER invited Shaw AND the entire coaching staff. They watched a practice

I do know that it was public relations that got him sacked.

That’s true to a degree. But if he had a better record….

    But that’s me–a Recordite.

I look at years of Jeff Fisher mediocrity broken up by a few good seasons. I just believe he was a mediocre coach.

But yes–I got what I wanted.

Now I want a Superbowl win.

David Shaw (I mean funny he was at Rams headquarters a few weeks ago)Hmmmmm

I can’t get that out of my head. What was that all about? If they were talking about a possible HC gig while Fish was still in the building…man that’s pretty bad IMO.

Then a couple weeks later…goodbye Fish.

I’m gonna double down on that Hmmmmmmmm.

And yes if we put even part of Keenum’s awareness and knowledge in Goff’s head, IMO, people would say the OL was playing better

    I will agree with that.

I’ll add that they still would be among the worst O-lines in the NFL…so, they still need an upgrade.
