sanbaggerParticipant
I seeing reports that Anthony Lynn just may take the HC job with the Chargers…he might not be in the fold just yet.
sanbaggerParticipantLes Snead will retain his position
I’m fine with that.
Except for all the draft picks I’m okay with the what Snead has done.
Kidding. I like Snead and I think overall the drafts have been pretty good.
I agree. The talent level of this team, from when he arrived to where they are now, is exponentially better.
I took a look at the drafts pre and during Snead / Fisher and I came away convinced they have done a better job drafting during their tenure.
It will be interesting to watch this draft and with who has last say.
sanbaggerParticipantDo me a favor. Make that it’s own thread.
different thread.
“Rams hire McVay.”
You don’t bury that in a long thread about many candidates. It’s news!
Well ag already started it.
Sorry man, I’m not a big thread starter and didn’t want to put something out there that fits in another thread.
I get what your sayin about “news” and I agree.
sanbaggerParticipantOff the net from Philly5
Just announced
We got the hottest guy on the market
sanbaggerParticipantAlden Gonzales @Alden_Gonzales
Source: Rams probably will not be interviewing Kyle Shanahan. They’re zeroing in on Sean McVay, though nothing is finalized yet.
Wow…that is surprising.
All reports are McVay has been outstanding in his interviews, enough so they don’t even want to talk with Shanahan huh?
January 11, 2017 at 7:11 pm in reply to: speculation conversation…what if they switched to a 3/4 #63163sanbaggerParticipantI would be OK with the switch and I realize the 1st year would be a patchwork version while Phillips gathers his guys.
I believe they would address the lack of LBers in FA for the short term.
Barron could possibly be moved back to safety.
How many teams in the playoffs run a 3-4? I know Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Houston, and Packers..did I miss any? Seems to me it can be a good D and Phillips has a nice track record.
sanbaggerParticipantthinking about it i want shanahan. he’s just got the better resume. more qbs he’s worked with and helped develop. shoot. he helped develop cousins too!
but it isn’t just that. he’s developed running backs. at all stops. he’d be great for gurley.
but it’s not just that. he’s made a positive impact on offenses. at all stops. his system is proven with several different personnel. with different quarterbacks.
but i go back to the running game. it’s not just about goff for me. i think the fit needs to be good for gurley too.
i just don’t see that breadth with mcvay. that makes a difference to me. and i don’t care that gruden says mcvay is gonna be really good. i could care less about that guy’s opinion. i just see what shanny has done, and i believe it’s the perfect fit for both goff and gurley. as well as the oline. and the receivers for that matter. i remember what shanny did with those no name receivers when they went up against the rams without julio.
All great points, and I see things the same way.
For me, and I’ve said it here a few times so…broken record time….it’s about the coordinators. I don’t have a clue who Shanahan is proposing and not even sure if McVey really has Phillips in the bag….but if he does, it sure got my spirits up.

It’s official.Excited to announce Vance Joseph as head coach of the Denver Broncos!
Good. That means Shanahan is still in play.
Agreed…and McVay is being talked about as paired with Phillips…I would like McV/Phillips duo #1 at this point.
If they land one of the 2…and it appears there’s a good chance…I want Phillps with them, even if he wants to run a 3-4 D.

sanbaggerParticipantI have the Shanahans as 1…McVay is has probably risen to #2 on my board…then probably Lynn, not sure about my #3 guy yet.
As stated, I reserve the right to change my mind.
sanbaggerParticipantI wonder if the package deal rumors have swayed Elways thinkin?
For the record…I’m fine with the package deal…just not thrilled with daddy as a GM.
If Vance Joseph gets the job that could put Phillips on the street. VJ is a defensive guy and would MTL want his system and guys in place.
If it plays out like that, I would hope Shanahan gives Phillips a call from LA and has him fly out for a steak.
sanbaggerParticipantThe Rams didn’t need any more ammo to let Fisher go…they had more than enough.
It makes sense to me Fisher leaked it in an attempt to buy him some more time…in a sense the Rams would look foolish to give him an extension then turn around and fire him before the season ended.
sanbaggerParticipantcuz i’m not exactly sure how it would have benefitted fisher to leak that. it was only going to make fans angrier.
Fisher said in a radio interview after being fired that one thing that disappointed him in the organization was them leaking the extension news.
So according to him, it wasn’t him.
.
I’m not buyin it…why would that disappoint him? I would think he would be upset they didn’t release the info.
I once had a boss tell me he was giving me a promotion but wasn’t giving me the title and we couldn’t tell anyone…I quit a week later.
sanbaggerParticipantya know i think demoff actually leaked it. kind of dangle fisher out there like bait and see what happened. and then axed him when they got their answer
I don’t see how that can benefit the organization at all. Dangle him as bait? They should have known his popularity was very low…all he had to do was check out the talk forums (which Demoff has done) or turn on the radio.
To me, the timing of releasing the extension then a week later firing him only made them look like they have no idea what they’re doing. Those of us that follow them closely were already clued in that it had been done, they just didn’t release it.
sanbaggerParticipantwe are in good shape to get the Shanahans
Let’s hope not.
I don’t want the Shanahans plural.
Dad Shanahan was a mess when it came to the personnel/GM stuff. I have no idea why anyone would want him.
And in terms of giving Kyle advice, there’s always the phone. Just phone Dad. No need to have him on the payroll.
…
I like the Shanahans..plural.
I’m not suggesting him for GM…possibly VP of player development. I’m not big on Coaches as GM’s because when in the middle of working on the game planning and such you aren’t working on watching college guys…now that he’s not a coach he will have a different eye for what he’s looking at. The guy knows football and he knows the O Kyle is gonna run…I feel confident in his ability to identify talent along with Snead.
It seems as though our line was built for zone blocking and the Shanahans are a zone blocking O…perfect fit for TG IMO.
sanbaggerParticipantThey aren’t going to leave Los Angeles for Cleveland just because they like GW
I don’t think they would turn down more money to stay in LA, but if they feel comfortable with GW and the scheme he’s gonna run…I absolutely think he could be looking to poach some guys and they would be interested.
That said…Cleveland has a couple of good corners in Haden and Taylor. Thing is, Cleveland ran a 3-4 last year…wonder if GW switches that up?
sanbaggerParticipantI really enjoyed that article and thought the guy was spot on….just ask him.

sanbaggerParticipantI really couldn’t tell if they quit…but I do believe Fisher was feelin the pressure and that kinda resulted in him and GW gettin in to a ballyhoo on the sideline. I think that was felt by the players and carried over.
The team was never really the same after the ballyhoo IMO…I also think Fishers camp let the cat outa the bag about his extension…maybe an attempt at to get some time, not sure but I find that curious and if I did then I’m sure the team did.
sanbaggerParticipantI agree with Clemson at 24 only Bama only gets 20
24-20 Clemson and the ACC win the Championship.
Plus the coach has the greatest name, even better than Jimbo

January 9, 2017 at 12:15 pm in reply to: Bonsignore: Rams scour the nation in search of next coach #62924sanbaggerParticipantMy comment was aimed at VB and his contradictions
Oh, OK…then I guess we agree.
Glad you see it my way.
January 9, 2017 at 10:01 am in reply to: Bonsignore: Rams scour the nation in search of next coach #62887sanbaggerParticipantSo they’re clearly targetting a focused specific thing, but then they cast such a wide net, meaning it;s not clear what they’re after?
Not sure I take it the same way…in fact, I certainly don’t want them narrowing their search to exclusively one type of HC.
As stated in previous threads, I’m squarely in the “The coordinators are very important” category…In fact, if I were interviewing that would be one of my first questions.
So…Even though I would like a promising offensive minded guy (Shanahan, McVey) I wouldn’t like it if the Rams only wanted to talk with those types of guys.
Also, in one of the Demoff articles posted here, he stated some of the interviews are informational only…getting info from that years opponents seeking info on other teams perceptions of Rams strengths and weaknesses.
sanbaggerParticipantI really liked the addition of Singletary and would love to see him around when the new regime takes over.
I haven’t heard his name mentioned, with regards to GW and Cleveland, so if he’s still looking for employment, I would hope TNG (the new guy) gives him an interview.
sanbaggerParticipantGiants only down by 18.
They should be able to catch up and pull ahead by the sixth quarter.
..
Gonna be tough now….gettin 25 points in only 2 mins is a little tough
sanbaggerParticipantI hope the Rams go after Cruz this offseason
Looks to me like Cruz is signed through the 2018 season and doesn’t become a UFA until 2019.
He’s also had a lot of injuries…not sure I would break the bank on him.
sanbaggerParticipantOh, well then it’s a good thing you posted it then.
Yeah I tend not to read/listen/watch until after I post things.
Luckily I didn’t approach marriage the same way.
..
Are you saying you actually listen to your wife?…hmmm, interesting.
sanbaggerParticipantWe can only hope we get a staff that tight.
sanbaggerParticipantNo reason to get on a ledge if the Rams don’t hire Shanahan…Plenty of good candidates out there..McVay is quickly rising on my wish list….Patricia has risen also…and I always remind myself it’s not only about the HC it’s about his staff.
sanbaggerParticipantMoore doesn’t look terrible, it’s just they can’t block the Steelers and they have been doing a decent job on Ajayii.
sanbaggerParticipantRaiders offense looking more and more like the Rams offense as the game progresses
Yep complete with dropped passes and penalties at critical points to negate positive plays.
sanbaggerParticipantHey, maybe my bet is safe!
I’m liking this Cook kid.
Sorry man but Cook had an 8.8 rating in the 1st half…I’ll be surprised if he isn’t benched for the 2nd half.
Looks like he has some skills that translate, but he’s a rookie and as we know those types of things happen to rooks
