Quick is a bit of a surprise.
Thought he was good to go.

PA RamParticipantThey will have to win a shootout in that Pittsburgh game.
That offense is fantastic and they’ll have Bell back.
I believe that is the best offense they will face this year–even better than Green Bay and Detroit.
Palmer has not looked good in pre-season. They can beat the Cards at least once and maybe twice.
I just have to see them come out, cut out errors, not beat themselves and play tough and together. Until I see it, I’ll remain a bit pessimistic toward the season. But the Rams certainly have the talent to compete in all their games–especially if the O-line improves.

PA RamParticipantI would prefer to answer this question Sunday evening when I’ll have more information available to make a prediction.
But….since some of you might call that CHEATING. I’ll take a guess.
I’ll say that I do not think the Rams will win this game.
I know, the Pats started three rookies on the offensive line against the Steelers and somehow they won the game. But the Steeler defense sort of sucks.
This will be a tough test for the Rams young line. Throw in the fact that you have an ailing Tre Mason and it doesn’t look great for finding points. I’m also not sure what to expect from new OC Cignetti—he’s also a rookie at this. If the Rams are going to score, I think they’ll need two or three explosive plays and some semi-sustainable drives that lead to field goals. So Tavon or Givens or Quick will have to bust something. I don’t see the explosive plays coming from the backfield. But they need a couple.
The defense will play tough but I am also skeptical that they will play at their best for at least a few more weeks.
There is no doubt that they will be focused on stopping Lynch. But Graham is going to cause problems. And the rush will have to chase Wilson so the secondary needs to keep their heads in the game to give the rush a chance.
I don’t think there will be any ST miracles this time.
I hope I’m wrong–dead wrong. I WANT to be dead wrong.
But since you asked.
Seahags: 20 Rams: 13

PA RamParticipantGurley playing the role of Lynch in practice:
Welcome to “Six Points” for Week 1, a quick trip around the league with Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen.
When to expect Todd Gurley
It’s difficult to find a better moniker for an NFL player than “Beast Mode,” aka Marshawn Lynch, who takes the field when the Seattle Seahawks open the season on the road against the St. Louis Rams.
And when Lynch gets his first handoff this season, it no doubt will draw some sarcasm in the social media world given that most think Lynch should have gotten the last carry of last season — what most assume would have been a short Super Bowl-clinching plunge.
What we won’t see is the first official rushing attempt by Todd Gurley, the former Georgia running back who was the Rams’ No. 10 pick in the 2015 NFL draft despite having surgery to repair an ACL last November.
Gurley won’t play Sunday, but he is playing “Beast Mode” for the Rams’ scout team this week while he experiences the most physical contact he has had since joining the Rams. There will be no tackling Gurley to the ground, but he will be “bumped” and “thudded” by Rams defenders. The Rams will measure Gurley’s readiness for the next phase before they suit him up for real, which is expected to happen sometime in the next month if he has no setbacks.
What are the expectations for a healthy Gurley?
Rams coach Jeff Fisher talks about the “size, power and acceleration” that the rookie brings to the team. The Rams, along with other teams in the NFL, believe Gurley is the best running back prospect to enter the NFL since Adrian Peterson, who was the No. 7 pick in the 2007 draft, while Lynch went 12th to the Buffalo Bills.
The Seahawks will be content not having to deal with Gurley, whom they rated as the best player in the draft, until they meet again Dec. 27 in Seattle.

PA RamParticipantYes–those games will be a struggle. But it isn’t JUST about the offensive line either. The Rams do have a pretty good defense.
And if all else fails–tape their walk-thrus and steal their playbooks.
Deflate some balls.
Hey–works for some teams.

PA RamParticipantHi PA.
That ESPN story dredging up spygate just before opening weekend is a gift to us all – up there with novel dissociates and unexpected sex in terms of things that make me smile.
The Pats are getting killed in the media right now and those asterisks next to their Lombardi Trophies are becoming more and more cemented into the mainstream consciousness with every news article, TV spot and ESPN ticker tape mention.
The news isn’t really new – “Spygate – The Untold Story” by Brian O’Leary came out in 2012, but probably was not widely digested by the sheeple on your block. Now, ESPN is milking the story for clicks and views – rock on tabloid sports network!
If we had to lose that stupid game in New Orleans, having the one two years earlier, the NY Giants taking it to them twice (once nullifying their bid for the perfect season), deflategate and now this brutal ESPN report somewhat dulls that pain.
There is probably a saying about how you shouldn’t take pleasure in another’s misfortune, but those bean masticating deviants deserve to choke in a cloud of their own rancid flatulence while being dry humped in the court of public perception.
How’s it going, Lyser?
I will always have a sick feeling in my gut about that Super Bowl. I felt it at the time when the Patriots were allowed to blatantly mug Faulk. Take out Faulk and you take the wheels off the GSOT. Belichick didn’t have to be a genius to know that and the refs allowed them to do it. And what a HUGE advantage it would be for your defense if you know the plays that are coming and can adjust to the right defense. This bothered the players and Martz and now it’s pretty clear that this coach made a living off of cheating. This was a close game. Those advantages–taking out Faulk, knowing how players are used or what’s coming could have made all the difference.
I will never give the Pats credit for that game.
I don’t know what could convince me to look at it any other way.
And the NFL which allowed this to happen undermines their sport. If people ever believe this is the WWE on any level they will walk away. I LOVE the NFL. I LOVE the Rams. I may put blinders on to feel that way because I don’t want to walk away from it. But it makes me sick.

PA RamParticipantThere will always be questions attached to their dynasty.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantIn fact, many former New England coaches and employees insist that the taping of signals wasn’t even the most effective cheating method the Patriots deployed in that era. Several of them acknowledge that during pregame warm-ups, a low-level Patriots employee would sneak into the visiting locker room and steal the play sheet, listing the first 20 or so scripted calls for the opposing team’s offense. (The practice became so notorious that some coaches put out fake play sheets for the Patriots to swipe.) Numerous former employees say the Patriots would have someone rummage through the visiting team hotel for playbooks or scouting reports.

PA RamParticipantOf all the opening games there is only one team a bigger home dog than the Rams…and that’s the Bears at 7-7.5 to the Pack.
Rams are 4 to 4.5 home dogs.
Rams over/under for season is 8.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantI like it.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantThe offensive line is what it is and they are just going to have to improve together and in the meantime they’ll just have to get help here and there to protect Foles. I think it’s a problem right now and no rose colored glasses can change that for me. But I HOPE they do improve as the team goes along.
The defense? Not really concerned. I believe they’ll be fine. yes–the secondary needs to get its act together in terms of where they should be going–less confusion…but I also think they’ll make plays–cause fumbles and interceptions and be disruptive. They’ll be good enough.
But here’s what I like on offense:
Todd Gurley. What a weapon he should be.
Tavon Austin. He looks more sure of himself this year. Seems to want to do less dancing and is looking to break loose.
Chris Givens. He’s a deep threat pure and simple.
This team has some BIG PLAY potential this year.
That’s exciting to me.
So yes–I have some problems and concerns. But I am really excited about what COULD be.
We’ll see.

Fisher said other moves were afoot. Maybe they trade one of the receivers.
Hmmmmm. But which one? I’d have to think Givens.

Rams hold press conference one hour after cuts go to league and then don’t announce cuts for alleged “competitive reasons.” Really?Huh?
I don’t know, PA Ram…maybe they’re trying to hide some players.
(Sorry for referring to myself in replying to myself but I thought I’d make it a “Fight Club” twist kinda post. I’m guessing no one saw that coming.)
Still-a brilliant observation.

Go with Barnes with Rhaney as back-up and Rhaney has the flexibility to play guard. It makes sense.
Well, ok. But I will be really pissed if they keep McGee.
It’s also possible they have their eye on someone who has been cut.

PA RamParticipantI think the defense will be ready for Seattle.
I don’t see any way the offensive line is ready. They will need some Givens or Tavon big plays and a great defensive effort.

Rams release WR Emory Blake. Have been told that WR Bradley Marquez has made 53-man roster. Nothing’s official till 3 p.m., so we’ll see.If they kept Marquez I can only assume they’re keeping 6 receivers.

Isn’t it a bit odd that the two chief defenders
were able to catch up to tavon?
Didnt look like they had the angle,
but they caught him.w
vWhy do you hate Tavon Austin?
In any case–I think he just ran out of field. If he had more room he woulda took off. The field slowed him down.

I am curious whether they keep Lynch or Hager or both. IMO Hager has to make this team. Lynch is a good young LB as well.

I plan to watch it over the next couple days. Not sure this game mattered for anything beyond settling some final roster spots.
Looks like Hager and Lynch had good games, eh?
One will probably make it and one to the PS.

PA RamParticipantI like what I’ve seen of Case Keenum.
I feel very comfortable with him as the #2 guy and am excited to watch Mannion develop.
I have nothing against Davis personally–I know he tried. But I think he’s hit his limit. I just don’t want to spend any more time waiting for him to develop. I think it’s just time to move on.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantOkay–I’m going to be one of THOSE fans.
I believe the Rams HAVE been treated unfairly by the refs. No idea what it is. Maybe they hate Fisher. Don’t know. But the discrepancy is real. While Seattle may have led the league with the Patriots in the #2 spot–not all penalties are equal. Some penalties are called when the game is already decided–useless “make-up” calls.
And there are the obvious calls NOT made–the holding on Quinn for example.
So—it’s not something I can prove but Bernie would have a hard time convincing me otherwise.
