Okay–maybe I’ve lost my mind but watch these two interviews with Dani Klupenger–one with Goff–one with Wentz when they visited the Rams.
She’s very happy and bright eyed and almost ecstatic with Wentz. Scenes are shown of Wentz walking around with Fisher–meeting people–shaking Tru’s hand.
Then on Goff’s interview she seems to be going through the motion. The smile is forced. No scenes with Fisher. Looks like Goff got the B tour.
So…judge for yourself. Maybe I’ve just had too much time to think about this but here ya go:
…Dani Klupenger knows. SHE KNOWS!!!!!!
But, if you play both interviews backwards,
at the same time, you can clearly hear
her say, “Its Paxton Lynch.”w
vGreat catch! I thought the words didn’t quite match their lips. I still believe the answer lies somewhere in my Lindy’s Draft Guide. Right now I’m circling every third word in the Rams preview section.

PA RamParticipantI’m going with the theory of following what OTHER teams do–how they react.
The word for awhile was that the Browns wanted Goff. The Rams moved up–they moved out.
There is no doubt who the Eagles wanted–Wentz.
They gave up a LOT to get their second choice. I believe they know.
So maybe the Rams are messing with all of them–who knows.
But I think these teams and an insider like Silver probably have a good idea. And of course the team reserves the right to change its mind so–there’s that.
I just think it’s Goff.

April 20, 2016 at 11:52 pm in reply to: Teams believe Jared Goff to Rams is a 'done deal,' sources say #42337PA RamParticipantI am merely hoping for the best–and the Eagles certainly believe it’s Goff to the Rams, and they hinted that they know that–so Goff it is.
He will be our Joe Montana.
Of course if the Rams pick Wentz and thumb their nose at everyone I’ll be very pleased.
I’ve been watching more Goff film. I do love the way he keeps his eyes focused downfield–even when scrambling. I like how he looks off receivers. Some QBs really struggle with that. I don’t think Bradford ever was able to do that well.

April 19, 2016 at 9:30 am in reply to: Wagoner: Rams have reasons for keeping top pick secret #42260PA RamParticipant, if something like that occurred, the Rams would be forgiven for having a change of heart if they had announced their pick. But the extra time allows them to turn over any possible stone that might still exist just to be absolutely certain they have the right guy.
Plus, this is supposed to be a 12-15 year marriage.
So they don’t want to pick a guy who knows he wasn’t the favorite until the “unforseen event.”
Maybe. But the guy they do pick will always wonder if he was REALLY the guy–or just the back-up plan. And we’ll never know.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantI just hope it works out–whoever the pick is. It HAS to. They can’t screw this up–and maybe both are legitimate future stars in which case it’s just a question of flavor. I think most Rams fans will be excited with either guy.
If they shock the world and announce Hackenberg I’ll put my foot through the television.
I’m going to be glad to stop hearing the “Rams have no quarterback” comments.

I watched some of the other videos on there. Did anyone catch the one where Wentz was in the Hot Seat with Steve Marriucci? Wow. He drew a complicated play–made Carson sit down and answer questions and then had him draw and explain the play. The kid nailed it.
I’ll be glad when we know which one they take because I’ll be able to get excited about either one. This is a rough two weeks.

April 17, 2016 at 3:12 pm in reply to: Goff or Wentz? Wentz or Goff? Der Wentz oder Goff entscheidung #42183PA RamParticipantHere’s a LaCanfora article which briefly talks about Goff/Wentz and the Browns at #2:
The Browns want Jared Goff, and, I have yet to talk to an executive who does not believe that is who the Rams are taking. While the talk prior to the Rams making that huge move was that they preferred Carson Wentz, no one is buying that they jumped up half a draft round to select a quarterback who played low-level college football and may need to sit for a few years while the Rams try to make a dent in the Los Angeles market.
Maybe there is actually some ruse going on, but just as other teams were never buying that the Rams were going to go with Case Keenum as their quarterback, they aren’t buying for one minute that Jeff Fisher doesn’t already know who he is picking; and they believe strongly it is the California kid who played in the Pac-12 who is more pro ready from Day One than Wentz.
Browns coaches, for their part, believe the gulf between Goff and Wentz is fairly wide, and thus taking Wentz at No. 2 is a tough sell. And while Joey Bosa and DeForrest Buckner would be under consideration for the selection, the opportunity to drop down, land more picks, and not have to pass on a passer appeals to the Browns as well. And for an alleged forward-thinking, analytics-driven front office that prizes the cheap commodity that draft picks are, trading down would make plenty of sense and would take them off the hook of picking at 2 and would give them something they could sell to the fans if their quarterback is indeed going to be gone.
It’s funny when it comes to the opinion on these QBs, how differently they are viewed. Unless-of course, it’s all theater. Maybe the Browns really want Wentz.
Note: While I was reading this there was a video on the side with a guy screaming for the Rams to take Wentz. He basically said they were nuts if they took Goff #1.
So the pick will be the right pick and the wrong pick. They can’t win–and they can’t lose. And time will tell.

PA RamParticipantApparently he tweeted the Los Angeles area code.
From that, I guess people assumed he signed.
I don’t know.

PA RamParticipantThanks, zn.
I watched this and some of his 2015 game against Texas.
First of all, the kid can throw the football. He’s accurate and does have that quick release. He has pretty good pocket awareness and he played behind an awful offensive line. He is not a statue back there. He can move enough to get a first down here and there. He’s probably more accurate than Wentz and certainly has a faster release.
But…and I know I’ve been poking fun at his hands–he had 23 fumbles at Cal. That concerns me. He isn’t used to being under center and Wentz looks very smooth with that. Also Wentz brings more intangibles in the way he can run with the football–not that he HAS to run–he just is more of a complete package in that way–defenses will have to respect that.
I’m not saying Goff would be a flop. He may be a superstar.
I just think–looking at the Rams–and what they do–and which puzzle piece I feel fits better with them, right now–I believe it’s Wentz.
I believe he can have the biggest impact–the soonest.
On the other hand I can see Goff becoming a star in the NFL as well.
If they do pick Goff, I’ll embrace him and hope for the best.
But that pick will excite me more if the card comes up and Goodell says: “With the first pick in the 2016 NFL draft–the Rams select Carson Wentz, QB Noth Dakota State University.”
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantHe gives the defense something else to think about.
It really looks like he’s running the Rams offense. NDSU seems to have a similar philosophy. I don’t know who will be the better QB over the course of their pro careers. But considering what the Rams do right now–Wentz just seems like a very good fit for them.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantI’m almost through the 3rd qtr.
It’s not just his throws that are impressive–and keep in mind this was his first game back from the wrist injury–the guy can MOVE! I don’t know if the Rams have had a QB with that sort of skill since—well–I don’t know.

April 16, 2016 at 3:32 pm in reply to: Goff or Wentz? Wentz or Goff? Der Wentz oder Goff entscheidung #42112PA RamParticipantI don’t want Jared “Little Hands” Goff anywhere near this team.
Well the thing is, they have been measuring hands for a while now,
and apparently, from what little i’ve read, there just aint many
(if any) examples of great QBs, with hands the size of Goffs.Am i right about that?
So, its not exactly a nonissue. Weirdly, its a real issue.
Can he be relied on to hold on to the damn ball?w

PA RamParticipantGood–I was worried we might get a guy who hits clutch shots in these “Fisherball” games.
With GZ the uncertainty remains. You just don’t know what will happen. Now THAT’S excitement.
And I’m not letting our bum go for someone else’s bum. And we don’t have the draft ammunition to trade up to the third round for a sure thing at kicker.
Just let GZ do his thing. Whatever it may be.

April 16, 2016 at 12:59 am in reply to: Clayton says the move by the Rams was out of desperation #42059PA RamParticipantYou could be right, zn.
But I just think that giving your draft away in St. Louis for a rookie QB and asking for patience would have been a tougher sell. Fans were already losing patience with Fisher. And there wasn’t as much incentive for a “flash” player on billboards. They had Donald and Gurley but they didn’t have wins.
L.A. is a different situation. Fans will have patience. Fans will embrace the rookie QB and allow him to develop. So I know we can never know for sure–but I do think that L.A. had something to do with their willingness to give up the big haul. In a way it allowed them to be more desperate–if that makes any sense.
But–as you say–maybe it didn’t matter at all.
Either way–it is what it is now–and I’m on the DRAFT WENTZ bandwagon.
Goff is a small handed bum. He stinks. No more “spread” offense types either. Good riddance, sir–off to Cleveland you go.
Or–if they take him, having the next Aaron Rodgers isn’t the worst thing.
So either way–as long as it’s Wentz.

April 16, 2016 at 12:07 am in reply to: Clayton says the move by the Rams was out of desperation #42054PA RamParticipantI don’t know why they did it. I do think that moving to L.A. had something to do with it. They will never admit that but I don’t think if they had stayed in St. Louis they would have done it. I didn’t want them to do it, as I’ve mentioned before. I wanted to find a receiver and add some depth to what they lost. I was fine with Keenum–the young guy in Mannion and maybe another young guy–a Cook or someone else if you had to go QB.
And I think that they were probably ready to do just that.
But this all started around the combine apparently. Either they decided that they HAD to finally draft a franchise QB no matter the cost–or they had to make a splash in L.A. and Keenum wasn’t that.
But I said before—and still believe–they could have won with the right game manager type of QB. That’s because of how the team was built. Run game. Defense.
Heck that sure seemed like Fisher’s philosophy.
But on the other hand they were a bit desperate for a franchise QB. They hoped–HOPED that Foles was that guy. Wouldn’t that have been great? Easy solution.
But when Foles fell apart that must have got their attention.
So if it was a football decision and not a marketing decision–Foles probably led to that.
They weren’t big on getting some other team’s castoff at that point. And they were stuck in 7-9 draft territory. So what can you do?
I still don’t like it. But maybe it’s what is needed. I’m warming to it.
Now they just have to get the right guy.
I say Wentz. So they’ll probably go with Goff.

April 14, 2016 at 11:38 pm in reply to: Goff or Wentz? Wentz or Goff? Der Wentz oder Goff entscheidung #41934PA RamParticipantI believe it’s Wentz. Someone asked Fisher a question at the press conference about developing small school QBs–like Mcnair and the way he answered it sounded like he had a plan in place for Wentz. I can’t remember exactly what he said but when I heard it I thought–he sounds like a guy who has made up his mind on Wentz. I think the Goff stuff is just a tease for Cleveland, in case they want to throw in something to jump up. They won’t. But it’s draft games stuff.
If this is wrong in a couple of weeks just delete this post and we’ll all agree I never made it.

PA RamParticipantEd Werder said that Snead and Fisher were split over the QB–one liked Wentz–the other Goff. He felt they were leaning Goff.
I’d probably rather they go Wentz.
Ike Reese on WIP Philly hates Goff. Says he has small hands–fumbling problems.
Also–he comes from one of those spread offenses. Wentz already plays in a pro style offense. He has mobility. I’d rather they go with him–at least as of today. I have more reading to do.

April 10, 2016 at 10:00 am in reply to: NFL Draft Rumors: Rams opting for WR Josh Doctson instead of QB? #41709PA RamParticipantHe has great hands but comes from a spread offense. Not a lot of route running experience.
Lindy’s compares him to Jordan Matthews.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantJared Goff: Matt Ryan.
Carson Wentz: Alex Smith(physically enhanced version)
Paxton Lynch: Brock Osweiler (scrambles like Kaepernik but passes like Osweiler)
Connor Cook: Ryan Tannehill(but less athletic with “puzzling decision making”)
I’m just not sure about these QBs in the draft being better than anything on the roster.
Every comparison you list indicates the 2016 qb in question is better than what’s on the roster.
The roster does not have Tannenhill, an enhanced A.Smith, or Ryan.
AND next year’s draft is awful at qb.
Well, I’m not giving away the draft for any of those guys. Ryan would be the best of the bunch but we don’t know for sure that any of these rookies will even be that good. If they stay at #15 and Lynch falls to them and they decide to grab him–eh..okay. Whatever. But it doesn’t excite me. The Rams lost more than they gained in free agency and I’d rather they either draft a solid wide receiver–perhaps a true #1 to give Case or Mannion another weapon, or fill in the depth they lost.
Your hatred for Case Keenum,by the way, is very thick. It flows from the computer monitor like hot molasses and burns my fingers. I like Case. I just want more talent around him. A better line and a couple of better receivers and I think we have an offense.
But this constant attack on Case Keenum as the devil’s spawn and so forth–well–I just can’t buy into that.

PA RamParticipantOkay–this is who my Lindy’s Guide(also known as “The Draft Bible”–by the guy who works at the drug store where I bought it—-he calls Sudafed cough syrup “God’s Wine”–so…)compares the Qbs to:
Jared Goff: Matt Ryan.
I will not be shocked if they pass on the Qbs this year.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantI can see the Rams wanting more picks in this deep but light at the top draft. They need to keep drafting players to replace the players they lose in free agency. But, still, I think the draft shapes up for the Rams to take the best available QB at 15. Even though I like Mannion a lot, I think you have to let the landscape of the draft determine your choices. Just like last year was a good year to get OLine, this year is a good year to take a QB.
Well–if they DO take a QB (not my first choice) I hope it’s one that falls to them. Don’t give anything away to go get one.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantHe’s the #1 rated cornerback in my Lindy’s guide.
But it’s interesting to note that he has never had an interception at Clemson. They do say that teams just did not throw at him very much. In 2015 he had 571 snaps but only five defensed passes. It’s hard to intercept the ball when it isn’t thrown your way.
