Rams odds to win Superbowl: 100-1
So there IS a chance!
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantI think this means less than it used to.
If you look at the avg. years of experience on the 2 starting units, O and D, the Rams STARTERS are not young.
Both average 4 years of experience (with different decimals after the 4).
That’s not young, that’s prime.
Whoa, whoa, whoa there Mr. Scientist.
I refuse to discuss prime numbers.

September 5, 2016 at 11:11 am in reply to: informal poll: Goff not starting, being #3 – disaster? not concerned? #52283PA RamParticipantIf nothing else the Rams can trade a #1 in 2018 to the Vikes for Bradford and start over.
Hey,hey, hey!!!! Stop throwing stuff!!!

PA RamParticipantOne thing you gotta say about Cam Thomas: he’s a big body in the middle.

PA RamParticipantI’m surprised that Seau didn’t make the practice squad. I thought he was a lock.

PA RamParticipantLook at my roster. The drafted rookies are Blue, the undrafted rookies are Purple.
Thanks for making up the roster, Ag. Much appreciated.

PA RamParticipantSheesh.
Mike Quick must have photos of Jeff Fisher cheating on his wife or dismembering a body or something. Photos that will automatically be forwarded to the authorities should any harm befall him.
How else does he continue to make this roster when potentially good players get cut? Roberson, Kush, Fox, Bryant…
Kush really surprised me. I thought for sure he’d make the team. He seemed like he’d be a solid back-up at center. But he may not have had the versatility they wanted for a back-up. I was surprised Roberson and Bryant were gone. But I do like Troy Hill. They may have found a gem there.

PA RamParticipantStill a very young team. Three rookie linebackers. I really don’t see how the defense doesn’t take a step back this year. Yes–they’ll be good. But there are a lot of new people on that side of the ball. If the offense improves that will help. And the offense HAS to improve. It HAS to. The bar was very low.

PA RamParticipantIt seems that Ayers had a particularly crappy pre-season.
I would have thought he was safe at the beginning of camp. Not so much.
This 7 wide receivers thing is temporary until Cooper and Spruce are healthy. After that Marquez is probably gone and maybe one other one.

September 3, 2016 at 1:40 pm in reply to: informal poll: Goff not starting, being #3 – disaster? not concerned? #52146PA RamParticipantI’m not worried–yet.
This kid has a great arm. He needs to be developed. If they do it right—he’ll be fine.
If not—ugh.
But what is THE right way?
I’m in favor of him sitting for now. Let’s see how things go once the season begins. There’s no harm in him sitting the season out, IMO. That will be more a media thing. Keep the focus on getting him ready and play him WHEN he’s ready.

PA RamParticipantEvidently, the HERD board doesn’t allow intelligent discussion about this morning’s trade.
Biggest news in the NFL today.
Anyway, I believe most everyone here is intelligent and manages civil discussion well. So, I have a question:
I know the Eagles picked up about $11M of SB’s contract this year, leaving the Vikes with $8M. On the Overthecap website, they indicate that SB carries a $22M cap hit next year. What will happen if Bridgewater is able to return next year? Will the Vikes have to eat $22 M just to keep SB, or to cut him? How can the Vikes expect any other team to be willing to trade for an oft-injured QB for a $22M hit?
I’ll be honest with you. I don’t believe the Vikes make this move if they think Bridgewater comes back next year. I even have doubts that the kid will ever play another snap.

September 3, 2016 at 12:11 pm in reply to: informal poll: Rams record…predicti-guesses (barring injuries) #52133PA RamParticipantI’m going with 8-8.
The secondary scares me a little. They still haven’t really settled the receiver’s position. No real O-line depth. Still not confident with GZ kicking a game winner.
On the plus side–front seven should be solid on defense. Gurley. I think Case will do well–better than Foles. A play here or there will put them over the 7-9 hump.
But I’m not sure they are playoff caliber.

PA RamParticipantWow.

PA RamParticipantNo way they could let Spruce go. Guy has the best hands on the team.

PA RamParticipantAnd finally, the whole Austin Hill saga NEEDS to end. I truly have had enough of his side story, can’t wait to see his selfish ass get cut… Sorry I just can’t root for the kid.
Please Lord no injuries!!!

I don’t get the hatred toward Austin Hill. He seems like a genuinely nice kid trying to make an NFL team. What is “selfish” about him? Maybe I missed something.

PA RamParticipantI don’t care if he plays Frisbee during the national anthem. It’s a free country. That’s what the flag means to me at least. So do what you want. The strength of the symbol is supposed to be as a sign for liberty. So do whatever you please. It isn’t an ISIS flag.
I think that having a robotic obedience to a symbol is dangerous anyway.
A country changes. Sometimes for good things and sometimes not.
I don’t look at it as being disrespectful. I look at it as living in a country that gives you the right to make that protest.
Do I think this gesture accomplishes anything? No. Not even a little bit. He said he wanted to bring awareness. Did I dream the attention given to this issue by the media over the past year with the shooting of blacks and of officers and of the BLM movement and of the racism in Trump’s campaign? The issue as been out there and covered over and over again. What “awareness” could he possibly bring to it? If anything it’s distracting–brings attention to himself more than the issue because all I see is Kaepernik. I don’t see much talk about the issue in regard to his stance.
He hasn’t helped anything.
Personally, I don’t know why it ever had to become a big thing with him not standing. Americans have a need to prove they are more “American” than the next guy. They want to claim ownership of the flag, the country and what it means and stands for and so they post Facebook videos of them burning a Kaepernik jersey.
“America!”
But that is not what it means to me. And at the very least we should be able to agree to disagree or that my view of America doesn’t make me less American than the next guy.
But CK didn’t really accomplish anything. He brought attention to CK. And part of me wonders if that wasn’t the whole point of it. That’s not really fair–I don’t know him at all. I’m working off of his image. So who knows?
Look, you can stand for the flag, sing the anthem and STILL be for fair and equal treatment of all. Standing for it does not mean you accept the bad things. You can be standing for the things you love about the country–and yes–for all the bad–there is also some good.
I feel fortunate to be born here instead of say, Bangladesh.
We have problems to solve and we should solve them. But not every solution has a national cure either. What can a President do to erase the prejudice of a cop in Florida? This will take changes on many many levels. And it won’t happen overnight. That’s just the reality.
Next week he will sit during the national anthem and after the game people may be talking about CK again and his lack of respect. It won’t change anything.
But if it makes him FEEL as if he’s doing something–that’s his choice.
That’s America.

The market will decide things, thank you very much.
And if that goes kablooey we will simply bail them out or let them pollute our water.
As long as rich corporations get richer we will all prosper.
It will trickle down. You’ll see.

PA RamParticipanttied with deandre hopkins for most tds by a receiver from the 2013 class.
They were talking about this on L.A. sports radio this morning that I was streaming. The hosts couldn’t quite grasp why Tavon was getting paid so much while comparing him to other receivers. You can’t do that with Tavon. He’s unique and yes–he scores touchdowns. That’s worth something. And if he became a free agent teams would be scrambling to get him.

August 29, 2016 at 10:08 am in reply to: reports: Cooper & maybe Gaines out a couple of weeks #51834PA RamParticipantThat will save one of the receivers from getting cut–for now.
I doubt it, PA…if they want Cooper they can’t risk cutting him. He has to be on the roster for a couple of weeks, then, if they want him. He will just be an inactive. That probably knocks a receiver off. MAYBE it means they keep 6 if originally they meant to keep 5. But PC has to be on the roster if they want him.
Oh I know they aren’t cutting Cooper. But if he’s on an injury list doesn’t that free up a spot? Once he’s better he takes the other spot and the receiver who survives would be cut. Or maybe I’m thinking about it wrong. I’m not sure how the whole injury lists work with regard to that.
Chances are, if they keep him he won’t be on an injury list. He will be on the roster. He has a minor issue and would be out at most 2-4 weeks.
So they still could keep a receiver they might have otherwise cut–but they will have to take the hit by giving up another position.

August 29, 2016 at 8:44 am in reply to: Since CK will start game 1 at least here are his 2015 highlights #51822PA RamParticipantYou know what’s weird–when I read your title and saw that CK would start game one–I never even thought “Case Keenum”. I thought you were talking about Colin Kaepernik. I was wondering how he would start when he may be cut and secondly–why you’d post his highlights.
Obviously when I see CK, my first thought goes to Kaepernik.
“JG” does make me think of Goff, however.
And of course who else could “SM” be but “Steve Martin”–but he’s a little old to be playing football. And he’s too wild and crazy anyway.

PA RamParticipantJust saw bits and pieces. Plan to watch it later.
But I will say that the potent Jeff Fisher Field Goal offense is sharp. GZ got a nice workout tonight.
Lots of dropped passes, I hear.
I don’t know. Britt, Tavon, Quick, Cooper and who else do they keep?
I assume they’ll have at least five or six.
There is still room for a couple more. But the pickings seem pretty slim.
If Spruce had stayed healthy maybe… but he’ll have a tough time if he can’t get on the field.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantHe just can’t stay healthy.
They can be glad Prescott has looked pretty good. They will score points.
But their defense? They may have to score points.

PA RamParticipantI don’t get it.
Is Ogletree slow with the calls? Confused?
Why the problem?
Did Ayers have the problem when JL made the calls? Or is this new? And why?
Is the problem Ogletree or the rest of the defense? Why the confusion?
Who is really to blame here? I want names, people–names!
The secondary is clearly confused.
I know, I know–they lost Mcleod, and Jenkins so we’ll give them some time to adjust. Yes, Ogeltree is playing a different position. But the line guys have no excuse. For now I will blame Hard Knocks and Eric Kush. But I want real answers soon.
Can Ogeltree even play the middle? Do we know that for sure?
I’m freaking out now–gotta eat a couple of donuts and wash it down with some coke. I’ll be better after that. I have concerns here.
The offense will be better–the defense worse = 7-9. It’s math.

PA RamParticipantI wonder how many of his misses are long field goals. I just wonder if this fascination with him kicking the long ones has resulted in inconsistency. If he kicked consistently from 50 and under I’d take it over the long ones.

PA RamParticipant– Naz is getting deeper and deeper into prison life and possible drug addition…..while his defense lawyer seems to be falling for him…..conjugal visit in the near future?
– Tuturro seems to have found a cure for his feet, but needs to work on his bench press lifts a little more….. was it the step dad that was pressing the weights on Tuturro’s chest.
No one wants that poor damn cat…
I’m not so sure it’s the limo driver anymore, even though his character is beginning to get relevant. ……. “She’s the cat, and the men in her life are the ball of yarn….
The DA questioning the pathologist (Dr. Katz) on the witness stand was the best scene of the show so far…. Dr. Katz is cool. “””””honestly, I was thinking of desert”””” lol…..
Great show….
Yeah–that was the stepdad.
I LOVED that courtroom scene. That dude was one cool customer–and pretty smart.
Ends next week. I’m still not sure who did it–but ultimately I think that has become the lesser plot of the show compared to the whole system of justice itself. Just great characters on this show. Even if Naz is innocent–I’m not so sure he’s innocent anymore. Could someone come back from that. Has he always been a monster or has he just become one now? Who is he now?
Innocent or guilty? Either way–the system can grind you up.
