Good piece. Somehow I expected a more dire ending. Glad he’s doing well.

Edit: I’m not totally sold on the medical benefits of cannabis outside of softening the effects of chemo. My wife did brownies a few times during her second round (which really knocked her down). It helped and she stopped taking it after her last infusion. I think it’s too much that it’s being hailed as a cure all; more than likely it’s just a placebo.

I don’t think Chicago has a chance..unless Deiter Brock comes back”””

That’s a canny reference to the 85 playoff game of course.

They should have started Jeff Kemp in that game, which I still lose sleep over…Ha!

Usually in November we are killing time waiting for FA and the draft.

Now we are killing time waiting for the playoffs.

    This way is better.

Agree. And my F-bomb drops are down 95.2% this year.

I returned from Hawaii Sunday night more interested in my fantasy teams than Rams-Chiefs. See, in one league I started out 1-6. I’ve won four in a row and am now in the thick of the playoff race. It really sucks being stuck in a steel tube five miles up while the afternoon-Sunday night games are going on.

On Monday afternoon my girlfriend and I prepared an early Thanksgiving dinner, I quaffed a couple of adult beverages and then we sat down to watch Chiefs-Rams.

    Ho-Ly-Shit. What a tilt.

This team is unbelievable. I’ve never seen a squad take body blows week after week against the best offenses the league has to offer. Minnesota, Seattle x2, Green Bay. San Diego. Kansas City. And they almost pulled off the upset in New Orleans. The 2018 Rams have surpassed the GSOT in entertainment value.

10-1. Best record this late since I was 9 years old. Now just get Talib back…

Right now, the Rams D mirrors the 00 Squad. But there’s one big difference…this team has legitimate young talent on the defensive side of the ball, whereas the OO defense fielded a bunch of guys on their last legs, the end of more than a few careers.

The return of Talib will be huge. And I still think WP has a few tricks up his sleeve.

I didn’t see the “Saffold shove.”

    What was the Saffold shove?

After an enraged Saffold drew the personal foul penalty, Goff tried to calm him down and Saffold sorta shoved him a little. It caught my eye at the time but Aikman didn’t mention it, but he did say Goff was doing the right thing in trying to calm him down.

I saw shove, too. It was more like a hand-slap, really. What I liked was Goff didn’t back down, he stayed in Saffold’s ear.

The game- liked that they made a comeback down 21. Defense made a couple of nice stops, too. But:

-Tough place to play, good team, HOF QB. Like the Packer game, it looked like the Saints viewed this as a playoff game.
-Rams still seem surprised when a team comes at them now. Welcome to the top of the mountain. Get used to it. I think the team is somewhat immature in this area.
-Like everyone else, I was exasperated by the poor tackling and coverage of the secondary. It was also surprising WP didn’t dial up more blitzes. I mean, zone or man, they were getting carved up by Brees. Die standing up (Quote from Red Dawn).

Okay, Seattle at home. I’ll be watching from a bar in Lahaina, Maui…Aloha.

Or the idea that the Rams played only 2 contenders so far. Depends I suppose on what you mean. So far they have played 2 4-3 teams (Minn, Seattle) and a 5-2 team (Chargers). GB is struggling for them but you can’t count them out.

The only good teams the Saints have beaten are the Reds****, Ravens, and Vikings. I’m not sure how that somehow makes them more ‘battle tested’ than the Rams.

The Rams have played eight football games and are still undefeated. That makes them “battle tested.” In my book.

I’m really looking forward to this tilt.

    Hi, Billy-

My brother (Niner fan) had a “back end” bet (second half) on the Packers with a +6 spread. Gurley got it for him.

With two weeks to prepare, I think the Packers studied the Rams well. At times, it seemed they knew what was coming at them. They overloaded the line on the left quite a bit in the first half. I think for that reason alone Gurley was running into the center. Then on the non-TD, they ran to the Packers right. On passing downs, Sullivan was getting schooled and Goff couldn’t step up. Gotta hand it to Green Bay…they prepared well and took it to LA at the start. It was like their Super Bowl.

But they still lost. This was a great test for the Rams. Once again, they adjusted well in the second half.

My concerns…the secondary, Hill and Peters in particular. Despite last week’s scrimmage, those two haven’t had a good game in weeks. I can’t wait till Talib returns.

Next to Donald, Cory Littleton is the defensive MVP. Dude is everywhere.

Next week, the Saints will be the biggest test of the season. I cannot wait.

but as it is the Rams only win by 14.

I expect Phillips to add a few wrinkles to get the pass rush going. He has to.

The Rams offense looks unstoppable if they avoid turnovers. I think Cooks breaks out big.

I agree. Open it up, be all transparent and let them both say their piece. Like you said, there needs to be *solid* evidence of the assault.

I just don’t get all the maneuvering by both sides.

As always, I won’t be comfortable until the Rams are up by four scores. And I need a huge night from the D and Cooks. Like a War of the Worlds miracle.

I will then, and only then, enjoy my baked chicken.

Edit: Kinda sucks for you lads on the EC.

My kids are vegan. My son in law is a vegan chef. Granddaughters have never tasted meat or dairy, not to mention processed sugar. They’re very healthy. That said, taking on this diet requires a good deal of knowledge about nutrition. There’s the very real possibility of vitamin deficiencies that can cause serious health issues, most notably iron and B12. My wife suffered from iron deficiencies in the last years of her life and “upgraded” to pescetarian from vegan.

My problem has always been cholesterol- I have had high levels of the good and bad. I also have a very high metabolism. So instead of cutting out meat, I’ve cut down on same along with processed food (I’m becoming quite the chef!). I rarely do fast food. I eat a lot of pasta and soups. Seems to work for me. And I just can’t cut out the two steaks I do per month.

I have a friend from Bosnia. Yes, Muslim (secular) but the men in her family drink like fishes and seem to all be 10 feet tall.

Anyway, she told me the horrific story of how her father was murdered (along with several dozen other men and boys) by a group led by his former business partner. Yes, business partner. Them men were tortured, then placed in tanker, machine gunned, then it was set on fire.

Evidently, those folks over in the Balkans have long memories and the hate just burned its way up to the surface. Civil wars are nasty affairs.

Well, that sucks. A rental for a premium draft pick. I was looking forward to watching him grow in this offense. And I don’t see this saving Austin with that big contract.

Still, the Rams have needs at LB first and foremost.

I know he was suffering from some health issues and posted a cryptic message on his FB page last week. According to his daughter, he was brought to ER yesterday, coded five times and they couldn’t bring him back. He was mountain of a man, huge, so perhaps that had something to do with his issues.

I remember going to the Stick with him once. It was well known that Rams fans would gather near the old security tower- it was like a home game in that part of the lot. He meandered around and found a group of guys that were Herd regulars…he knew EVERYONE.

While known as an extremely passionate Rams and Dodger fan (he never failed to let me have it when the Dodgers beat the Giants), he was equally passionate as a paranormal investigator- ghost hunter. This was something that he kept close to the vest until just a few years ago.

    Great guy…what a sad day.

First off, let’s set the record straight on the “18 school shooting ins 2018” meme that’s going around. It’s false.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2018/02/16/parkland-school-shooting-no-there-have-not-been-18-school-shootings-already-year-column/343100002/

That said, every time this happens I can’t help but think that this just was unheard of (save for the Texas Tower shooter) when we were growing up. And the country was awash in guns back then, too.

So where did we take this wrong turn? And why are we so paralyzed we can’t make common sense laws to regulate the sale of weapons like the AR? I just don’t get it. I think part of it is the NRA types are terrified of incrementalism. Enact law after law until the 2A is gutted and all guns are illegal to own. Which is of course, ridiculous. Never gonna happen. But that’s how they think. I’ve talked to more than a few and some of these guys I walk away thinking they are the ones that shouldn’t own guns. Really scary types. Normal on the outside, but the colors come out when you mention any kind of gun control.

I’ve fired guns and I’ll admit it’s great fun. That said, I have no inclination to purchase one. Maybe if I lived in a real rural area. Sure. But I’d own a hand gun and shot gun. Not an AR.

Anyway, we’re in a perfect storm here. A society that glorifies (and then is desensitized by) violence and allows the sale of just about any type of weapon. The way we raise our kids. This shit ain’t gonna stop until we all get real about common sense gun laws.
