Well, this is one of those weeks where they shouldn’t lose.

But my fear is they’ll take the bye week too lightly.

Mark my words. If they look past this Sunday to the Panthers game next week an undermanned but plucky bye week will burn them.

Well, I saw some things in Hard Knocks that concerned me a bit.

If they blew this pick the franchise will suffer for years. When you go all-in on a player like they did for Goff–you’d better be damn sure about him. Either they can’t evaluate properly and just rolled the dice, or they were just that desperate.

Either way–sooner or later, you gotta take the cloak off and show what’s there.

Maybe it won’t be this year.

The only thing about Goff that bothered me from Hard Knocks was that he didn’t seem very bright and I’m not talking only about sunrisegate. But what may appear as a lack of intelligence might actually be a lack of maturity.

Besides, he doesn’t have to be smart to excel at QB. See Bradshaw, Marino, Montana, etc….

    October

No, I agree. I’d take Ellard over anyone but Bruce.

I loved Snow but he’s not on the level of Bruce, Ellard and Holt.

Jackson was great but he was with the Eagles for most of his career wasn’t he?

He sounds a little bitter but maybe for good reason. He is 14th on the all-time receiving list. And there are guys from his era who have fewer yards than him but are in the HOF like Art Monk and Michael Irvin.

If Art Monk should be in the Hall then so should Henry Ellard.

By the way Emma Stoltzfus was fantastic as Reno–the saucy dame in the play.

Emma Stoltzfus is a no-talent hack who wouldn’t know her arsch from eine hohlen in der boden.

    It’s bullshit.

Would you do that? If you were owner?

    Why would Stan?

And even if Stan did…how would Fred Roggin know? Stan confide in him, ya think?

Or maybe Stan made an ultimatum. And Fisher leaked it.

    It’s bullshit.

It may be BS. And if it was true Stan certainly wouldn’t confide in Joe Roggin. But he would have confided in somebody. Probably multiple people. And info like this tends to leak.

    But yeah, I’m skeptical.

to play in a 3-4 defensive scheme? I know we may have to build with some new LBs and all. Could Robert Quinn, and Eugene Simms play as 3-4 OLBers? How about the DLine? Just some thought. If Ken Norton Jr became the new HC, he may install that type of D.

This teams strength is on the d-line. Seems to me it’s more suited to be a base 4-3 team. All defenses, including the Rams give offenses a 3-4 look every now and then though.

Maybe they should play both Keenum and Goff. Platoon them like Waterfield and Van Brocklin.

Maybe they both can wear black high top cleats and run the Wing-T offense too.

Brilliant! Does anyone alive today even know how to defend the Wing-T?

I’m going to be very blunt here, and I don’t mean to offend anyone. It’s just my 2 cents.

Along with thinking that firing Fisher would be a mistake…

…I know this is just me and I won’t fight about it and campaign and so on, but I have found over the years that “which coach to hire” discussions among fans on the net are pretty much useless. No one knows enough to offer anything more than superficial and/or quirky ideas. The ones who insist they know more are invariably no better than people who just wing it for the sake of conversation.

In fact if we all put up our old “who to hire” posts from years past again, it would make for good comic relief. With no exceptions. The same goes with the talking heads and sports writers we get our info on this from. I doubt there is a single journalist out there with a credible “hit” record when it comes to guessing who would make a consistent winning head coach.

Don’t take that personally. It’s just that no one is in a position to know enough, and even those who are in the league and in a position to know enough get it wrong far more often than not.

Well of course they are useless. None of us has any say over who the next coach will be if there even is to be a new coach. It’s just interesting to hear what people’s thoughts on the matter are – in the same vein as “who do you think the Rams should draft with their first pick?” or “which film should win the Oscar for best picture?”

He contrasts “the passionate pursuit of knowledge by proletarian autodidacts” with the “pervasive philistinism of the British aristocracy.” Pretty much the same was true in the new working-class towns in the United States, like eastern Massachusetts, where an Irish blacksmith might hire a young boy to read the classics to him while he was working. Factory girls were reading the best contemporary literature of the day, what we study as classics. They condemned the industrial system for depriving them of their freedom and culture. This went on for a long time.

I don’t think many people read for enjoyment anymore. Too many other flashier entertainment options available that don’t require thought and reflection.

I think that is a big reason Americans are ignorant about the world relative to folks in other countries.

“””””Darrell Bevell OC Seattle Seahawks, and Ken Norton Jr. DC Oakland Raiders. “””””””””

Norton’s defense is dead last in team defense…

    Seattle’s offense is ranked 27,

    No thanks….

Yeah, that was my thought as well.

Stunned. I thought you were going to go with George Allen, or Ray Malavasi.

Allen and Malavasi have been dead for years. Plus I doubt they even want to coach again.

Well i was for Goff starting until i heard Fisher say some stuff about the WRs
being the reason for the INTs. I mean Tavon caused one. Looks like Quick may have caused one. I dunno about the other two.

But it may be the Keenum and the Rams win that game, if the WRs do their jobs.

So, I dunno. Just depends on what Fisher is seeing in practice. We dunno what Goff is doing in practice.

I’m ok either way. Start him or dont.

I DO know things will be more FUN for me as a fan, when Goff plays.

    w
    v

I didn’t see today’s game but the play of the wide receivers is one of the reasons i thought the switch might work. Quick is finally playing like the guy Fisher and Snead raved about at the combine and Brit is among the league leaders on receiving. I thought their high level of play could smooth the transition to Goff.

After three straight losses Rams fans need cheering up.

Lessee’, the Rams will undoubtedly be announcing Fisher’s five year extension pretty soon…maybe they can add that Goff will start the first week after the bye?

There, two things for Rams fans to look forward to.

Fisher signing an extension is a bad thing. How are you going to excite the LA fan base, giving an extension to a losing head coach? The fans in LA, scratching their heads, knowing signing Fisher to an extension means you don’t care. Below mediocre is fine. That is what Fisher gives you. LA fans are smart and know as longbas hebis here, the Rams will never see the playoffs. I will probably hit powerball jackpot before the Rams make the playoffs with Jeff Fisher as Head Coach

    Yeah I was joking, Jack.

Although John Clayton and others think the extension has already been signed or at least agreed upon…

By the way–just heard on NFL network that Fisher said Case will continue to start.

Fisher isn’t going to throw Keenum under the bus and he shouldn’t. He’s also not going to make a decision about who starts the next game immediately after another tough loss. He will take some time, look at the film, consult with his coaches and then decide to start Goff.

At this point not starting Goff only makes sense if he isn’t as ready to play as Fisher has been saying he is.

As much as I like Keenum’s moxie, he always finds a way to make a critical mistake.

I agree…time to start the Goff era.

The Rams can lose with Goff just as well as they can with Keenum and at least the kid would be getting his feet wet.

Thing is, yes Hillary and Trump are bad, but what other democratic or republican candidate would have put a stop to build-up to war that Pilger describes? Every mainstream politician you can think of would stay the course. Bernie might have tried to stop it, but he would meet so much resistance he would be ineffectual.

I do not care about immigration. That issue is so far down the list of things that concern me that I’m not even sure it’s on the list. The vast majority of people are decent people who want to work and feel at the end of the day like they’ve done something worthwhile. There are freeloaders on this planet, but I’m pretty sure you will find they are spread out evenly amongst all the races and religions and so on, and if anything, the people who leave behind their families and everything they’ve known all their lives to go start anew in country, risking their lives in the process, well…they are probably – as a demographic – a little LESS likely to be freeloaders. You don’t go through all that just for an inadequate amount of food stamps.

I think the idea of spending $14 billion – or whatever the number is, I don’t even care – on a wall that won’t stop them from coming in anyway is just preposterous. But I don’t even take it the least bit seriously since nobody in government takes it seriously either. It isn’t happening, now or ever.

Besides, net immigration from Mexico has been zero to below zero for several years. Immigration isn’t a real issue. It’s a deflection.

He was good. And he was getting better. He had issues with discipline his first two years, but he was a good player who was getting more disciplined and improving.

    Losing him was damaging.

E.J. Gaines is very good, and TruJo is good. So it was a question of priorities. Essentially they let depth walk. And that’s a salary cap decision more than a talent decision. Do you keep three CBs that are very good so you have one in case another gets injured? Or do you keep two good CBs with cheaper depth and allot your resources to somewhere else? The Rams chose the latter. I wish they had kept Jenkins, but I do not follow the CPA stuff, and so I don’t criticize this particular move.

Yeah they knew they would lose JJenks. They were prepared for it. They couldn’t keep JJenks and TruJo and they valued TruJo more. It sucks to lose JJenks but that became inevitable when they franchised TruJo.

McLeod was the one that took them by surprise. They didn’t see that coming.

Interesting – they have the Rams offense ranked 21st and the defense ranked 8th. In both cases that’s better than what their stats (yards gained, points scored, etc) says they should be. They must use some nontraditional metric to rank them.

Disputing facts (“is GMO stuff good or not”) is not the same as disputing SCIENCE.

It’s great to question everything. Everything should be examined critically.

But claims about something shouldn’t be made without compelling evidence to support that claim. I can dispute the fact that the earth is round, but I shouldn’t go around preaching the earth is not round until I have overwhelming evidence to support that claim. I also should not ignore evidence that contradicts my claim.

But that happens all the time. People are often more likely to believe claims that have no supporting evidence over the counter claim that is supported by evidence because it fits their particular world view. So the science is ignored. That may not be a war on science but it certainly is an outright dismissal of it.
