Seattle offensive guard D.J. Fluker didn’t seem too impressed with the Rams’ defense: “They haven’t seen a team that’s played physical. They want to be pass rushers. They haven’t seen a team go out there and actually take it to them every single play.”

There might be some truth to what Fluker is saying but some of it might just be frustration. I think Suh got into his head. Those two seemed to be in each other’s grill after every play.

Another solid 4th quarter from the Rams defense. I’d like to see them pull that off for four quarters against a good offense, but I’m very happy about the win in what I expected to be a close game. Wilson had too much time for three quarters, and the way he moves around it is difficult for a DB to stay with his man for that long. That said Peters was disappointing for sure. I totally expected Goff to regress this year, super happy to be incorrect so far. That was an unfortunate bounce on his first INT. Perhaps it’s a slightly different game if the Rams score there? Anyway, I’m still not distanced enough from 2005 – 2016 to be anything but overjoyed with the Rams being 5-0.

Seattle’s o-line was much improved over the clowns that the Mob Squad feasted on the past few years. They did a decent job pass protecting and opened up some nice holes in the run game although Inthink most of the issues with run defense involved defenders being out of position/getting fooled by the read option.

Kupp was just a head-hitting-the-turf thing.

Cooks hit was marginal, but Cooks lowered his head right before impact, so I’m not sure it was a penalty. Close…but not flagrant, imo.

but more than that. the run defense was worse. i don’t know how they fix it. but they gotta fix it. 190 yards on almost 6 ypc. not acceptable. i’m officially worried.

Well, they were 5th in the league against the run coming into that game, so hopefully that was an aberration and Phillips and Co can fix it. They seemed to really struggle against the Read Option. I mean, who gets fooled by that anymore? But the problem seemed to be more about guys not filling gaps like they’re supposed to rather than just getting physically beat. At least that’s how I saw it.

Though at this point anyway Peters is not living up to expectations.

Well, he’s living up to the Chiefs’ expectations, which is why they let him go.

I thought it was interesting that Rhonde Barber was not surprised by how badly Peters played. He said that Peters often gets caught looking into the backfield, and get’s burned as often as he big plays. Barber was not a fan.

He needs a game of nothing but drops or people are going to get weirded out .

When he drops a perfectly thrown TD pass and then shoves his QB on the sideline as the QB tries to console him, then we’ll know Jared is back.

Anything beneficial that science creates can be corrupted. You sorta have to keep that ‘potential for corruption’ in mind when developing new technologies. It’s a ‘risk vs reward’ situation.

    =============

Well, my question would be what are the ‘odds’ science will be corrupted when the science is sitting in a corporate-capitalist context.

    w
    v

Well, the odds are pretty good.

Companies have been caught manipulating data and study results before.

Fortunately there are regulatory bodies monitoring these studies and independent labs verifying the results.

All that takes time and it isn’t foolproof but in most cases it would be hard to get away with the fraud for long.

The bigger issue might be with the lack of government funds going to research, more and more companies are stepping in to fill the void. Companies want a return on their investment. Not saying this is leading to widespread fraud but it’s not an ideal situation.

I don’t know why spraying would be ‘impractical’ as the DARPA rep claimed. On the contrary, it seems like the most practical way to deliver the virus.

When things are going poorly, hope is all that you have, so I love it when opposing fans still have hope prior to the game.

Because as the game unfolds I know that hope is draining away.

    Then they have nothing.

    And I laugh.

I’m afraid of the very real possibility that eventually the NFL, having grown weary of serving as the Rams’ chew toy for so long, will disband, then reform in a different country under a different name so the Rams can’t find them.

And CBS didn’t move them up the rankings, either. They still have the Rams only one notch above the 2nd ranked team which is ridiculous.

It occurs to me that I haven’t seen one of these ranking sites even hint at the fact that the Rams are the greatest team of all time.

It’s like they go out of their way to avoid acknowledging it.

Damn liberal media and their east coast bias.

    Highlights from Bears/Bucs.

Look at how wide open the Bears receivers are on these plays.

Yeah, Tribiski played well but that was more about the Bucs defense being really bad than anything else.

    Trubisky, 6 TDs.

So Goff does 5 and now EVERYONE has to do it.

Wow, that really cheapens Goff’s accomplishment, doesn’t it?

    Today’s NFL. <shakes head>

I mean, if he can do it then everyone can.

Might as well trade Goff for draft picks and resign Keith Null.

    of pleasing appearance; handsome.

Thanks wv I feel like I know myself now.

    Bragging is unseemly.

Calling someone unseemly is neither seemly nor unseemly. It’s aseemly.

To be fair, btw, so is calling someone aseemly.

You are displaying classic symptoms of dyseemlia…the inability to identify and use the correct derivation of ‘seemly’ in a sentence.

It’s one of our most prevelant tick-borne illnesses, second only to Lyme disease.

And btw, i said the same thing in 1999 after four games. I urged caution. And decorum. I warned people not to get too excited, its probly just a mirage, smoke and mirrors.
So, ya know, i have a track record, here.

    w

    I couldn’t agree more.

    Maintaining decorum will be vital.

    And seemliness.

Pray that we do not ignore seemliness in our eagerness to maintain decorum.

    rules were different back then.

that offense in this era with all the protection qbs enjoy?

not as impressed. i think that san diego game was more impressive.

Well, yeah that was a really impressive performance against SD.

But what impressed me about the performance last night is that Minn is purported to have perhaps the best defense in the league, although perhaps it’s not as good as advertised. My memory may be off but I thought San Diego didn’t have a good defense when they faced the GSOT.

Rest of the league was busy shortly after the game changing their shorts . If the Vikes can’t stop you who can? Something about the short week messes with the Defense and the Offense goes nuts . What a fun night ! And the D notched 4 sacks including Donalds first two and JFM with the strip sack to ice the game wow. Goff is playing better than any QB out there right now I watched Mahones and got the feeling this guy has been lucky so far. Goff is a surgeon.

That was the greatest performance by a Rams offense I’ve ever witnessed. I don’t think that even the GSOT ever looked that good – not against a top flight defense anyway.

I’ve changed my mind. Rams win a close one.

Kind of like Swedish meatballs in an oil derrick fire.

The Vikings look good cooked that way. I think I would serve them over egg noodles. Deelish.

    Rams 27, Vikings 19.

Vikings’ o-line is subpar, and in 12 years of Thursday night games no team has ever won or covered the spread when they’ve had to travel two time zones west.

The bad news for the Vikings is that if the past is any indication, they’re a lock to lose this week, and here’s why: No team flying from the Central time zone to the Pacific time zone for a Thursday game has ever won or covered a game over the past 12 years.

This win was very costly. Rams defense became pedestrian without those great corners. Their loss really magnified the lack of pass rush.

Goff and the offense were outstanding though. Which is good because they may have to carry this team for awhile.

Let’s hope Peters and Talib’s injuries are not serious. I don’t expect to see them Thursday against the Vikings, I don’t expect to see Peters, not sure about Talib, but the rest of our Defense needs to step up though, if we want to pull of a win on Thursday.

Then again, it felt our guys on D had their minds elsewhere. Are tackling most of the day was like crap, and that is being kind. Maybe the guys minds were thinking about Thursday night or something.

Maybe even more serious is the lack of a consistent pass rush. They are getting nothing from their edge rushers and Donald and Suh aren’t wrecking the havoc I thought they would. Donald was completely invisible against the pass this game.
