ModeratorWhich game is more important to you to win? Giants or Seahawks?
That’s a hard question to answer; I am not even sure it’s a fair question.
I want them to win both.
A loss to the Giants would mean bad things. So you want a win there.
A win in Seattle would mean great things. So you want a win there.
Yeah I agree. Impossible for me to decide which loss would be more palatable. Trying to makes my head hurt. I feel like my memory banks are overloading like those alien computers on Star Trek that Kirk tricks into destroying themselves by presenting them with a paradox they can’t solve.
The correct answer is they have to win *every* game. Obviously that won’t happen but for me choosing between them is like trying to decide which of your children you would rather sell into slavery.December 15, 2014 at 11:02 am in reply to: What's your "bet"? (feeling) (analysis)–Rams beat Giants? #13913nittany ram
ModeratorWin this week against the Giants then go into Centurylink Stadium and destroy the Seahawks on the eve of yet another Superbowl run.
That would sorta kinda salvage something of the season.
Sorta.

ModeratorThat list tells you all you need to know about the priority the Rams place on QBs. And by extension on winning.
Hopefully the priorities have changed under SK.

ModeratorThat’s kinda cool. Had it come to fruition I know that I’d be feasting on Whatchamacallit chocolate bars and staying home to watch football on the the last Thursday of every November. Two things that make me jealous of every citizen of the U.S.
Don’t be so sure. US invasions of Canada never worked out so well for the US. See the American Revolution and the War of 1812.
Maybe I’d have single payer healthcare and a Tim Horton’s down the street, two things I’m jealous of Canadians for.

ModeratorI highlight particularly tough (as it looks now) away games:
Home: Arizona, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay
Away: Arizona, San Francisco, Seattle, Green Bay, Minnesota, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Washington
I think I would highlight all those away games except Washington. All those teams would be favored at home against the Rams anyway.

ModeratorPackers. Only team in the NFC that could keep Billichek from another title other than the Seahawks, and there’s no way I want the Seahawks in the Superbowl, so “go Pack go!”

ModeratorWelcome to the board, bnw. That’s interesting. I wasn’t aware that the Rams were responsible for all those QB changes.
Unfortunately, with the possible exception of San Fran, the Rams made all of those teams much better by injuring their starting QB’s.
And only a team as cursed as the Rams could manage to knock out their divisional opponents’ starting QB’s and make it harder for themselves to win the division.
They are their own worst enemy in more ways than one.
nittany ram
ModeratorIt’s pretty evident from some of the post game quotes that Arians does not like Fisher.
These comments should make this divisional rivalry even more interesting going forward.

ModeratorI wonder if those points given up numbers are adjusted for only scores allowed by the defense?
In other words, are all the points the offense gave up(pick six’s, fumbles returned for TD’s) taken out?
Because I saw a stat at several sites that said if you counted only those points given up by the defense, then the Rams are second only to Seattle in points allowed.

Everybody wanted to talk all that stuff about how great their defense is. I think they saw a good defense tonight, it was in red and white,” Arians said before talking about his 143 rushing yards. “We blocked them. I think they had been reading their press clippings way too much.”Why is Arians so hostile? Makes me root against them going forward.
Arians was fuming all game long. Maybe this is carry over from that. Plus he lost yet another QB. Perhaps he’s pissed because he knows he’s one n’ done in the playoffs. I mean, they were gonna be in trouble with Stanton at QB let alone the third stringer.
<span class=”d4pbbc-font-color” style=”color: blue”>I read/heard something where he said they lost out on the playoffs last year cause the Rams beat them on a FG. His comment/s reminded me of something Fisher might say.

Lol and now he’s lost two QBs against the Rams thus greatly reducing any chance he had in the playoffs.
He must HATE the Rams by now.nittany ram

ModeratorI don’t think the Rams were outcoached, although the Cardinals do have an excellent coaching staff. I think this loss was simply a matter of execution. The offense couldn’t execute mainly because the o-line couldn’t get it done. Wells and Joseph are simply horrible. Robinson is learning on the job and making mistakes. Sims said it himself, “doesn’t matter what play you’ve called if the o-line doesn’t block”. That was the story of that game. The Rams o-line was overmatched by Cards front 7.

Moderatornittany ram
ModeratorBiggest concern about tonight’s game?
How well can the Rams o-line hold up against a really good front seven? They’ll have to play much better than they did in Washington last week where they gave up 4 sacks and didn’t open up a lot of holes for the running game.
I don’t think some of the gimmicky plays that the Rams use like that jet sweep they run with Tavon will work against a disciplined defense like the Cardinals. To create running lanes they’ll have to do it the old fashioned way. Put a hat on a hat and move them out of the hole in coachspeak.
On the other hand I don’t think the Cards (or anybody except maybe the Seahawks) can afford to stack the LOS against the Rams anymore. With the emergence of Brit and Bailey the passing game is something defenses have to contend with.
The Rams o-line is the only worry I have right now. There’s really no other weaknesses on this team. Perhaps there are some areas that could be improved but I wouldn’t consider any of those areas a weakness….ummm except maybe place kicking. The jury’s out on that.
nittany ram
ModeratorTavon and Cook and Hill,
need to hold onto the ball.
I dont think the Cards can win
without turnovers.w
vSee I disagree with that. To win, I think the Rams will have to turn the ball over at least once, maybe twice.
Think about it. They have gone two weeks without a turnover. That’s not like them. That’s not like them at all. In fact, I propose that the concept of going a third week without a turnover is so ‘alien’ to them, that they will begin to question their deepest held beliefs and suffer the associated aungst that accompanies the feeling of not knowing your place in the greater order of things. You can’t concentrate on football after being cast adrift in a cold and unknowable universe.
To prevent this the Rams will have to commit a turnover and the sooner the better. Prolly best if they had two before halftime. On the other hand, if the Cards can hold the Rams to less than two turnovers, I think they have an excellent shot to win this game.

I think the Cards are in for a world of hurt.

The question remains, is this too political a subject to be on the football forum?
As you know, this community has gone back and forth on that.
Well, even though it’s imcredibly controverial it is a football topic. So in that sense it should be fair game here. But I also know what has happened on past boards when things got political so…
I dunno. I’ll be fine with it if you move it to the public forum.nittany ram

ModeratorYou show the Rams going sack less against the Cardinals but they recorded three sacks that game. I think all of them were on Palmer. Remember it was
Barron’s sack that ended Palmer’s season.nittany ram
ModeratorIt seems like you see more and more great one-handed catches now than in years past. I bet it has to do with the gloves – better gripping technology.
