If some weird rule I’ve never heard of is the reason I wish they’d be specific and explain it.
Yeah, where’s the live feed to Mike Pereira at times like this, for an explanation ??? What the guy OUT of bounds is doing should have no bearing on what the guy IN bounds is doing. Weird call.
NERamParticipantMy guess is Goff was trying to get knocked out.
Like the rest of us, he just wants the nightmare to end.
OMG, that made me laugh.
Awesome helmets though, huh? I hope the new unis are blue and white.
Beautiful helmets. Brought me all the way back to to the late 60’s, when I first started watching these guys. I’m a purist, though. It’s gotta be just blue and white; I dont wanna see any funky splashes of color thrown in there.

NERamParticipantDidn’t see the whole game, only watched the 2nd half.
Loved the Blue & Whites, the gold stripe on the jerseys messed it up. Gotta be all Blue & White…
Score was close when I started watching, then SOSAR took over.
I’m not even sure why they even hand off to Gurley anymore. Waste of a freakin down.
At first, I wanted revenge after Sherman’s hit on Goff, but it was a legal hit. Goff needs to develop better awareness of where he is, at all times. He easily could had stepped out of bounds, and not taken that hit. Not sure what he was thinking, slowing up like that, no slide, no effort to get out of bounds. You gotta learn to protect yourself. There’s a good reason the good ones play many years without a lot of injuries.NERamParticipantYeah, but Fisher was stoopid to base his whole offense around the Punting game.

vUltimate ball control…
NERamParticipantFisher’s failure to recognize and overcome the “Black Hole” created by Massey’s departure let the team continue in its death spiral, and eventually cost him his job.

December 12, 2016 at 10:52 pm in reply to: Eric Dickerson says he'll return to Rams games now #60873NERamParticipantOne of the ALL-TIME jerks.
would it be worth it?
Harbaugh is a jerk to EVERYONE
I want to win. In the worst way. Its been way too long. Not sure how I feel about winning with a douchebag at the helm, though.
I didn’t really like this current teams stupid chippiness. Not when it went as far as the Rams being referred to as dirty. I love hard hitting teams, don’t really like it when they play past the whistle, and get called for penalties which further hurt them. Especially when they were playing bad football. I didn’t like it when they were being jerks. I want them to win, and want to like how they do it.
Yeah, Harbaugh’s a Flamin A. Didn’t mean to imply that I think he coaches cheap shot players, that’s not what I meant. Just not sure of the inner warm and fuzzies with him.
Now, having said all that, there’s just no telling how forgetful I might get if Harbaugh were to become the new HC, and lead the team to a 14-2 regular season record. Shoot, I might even spring for a new pair of Khakis and a dark sweatshirt, in his honor.
It’s been a long, long, time…NERamParticipantDickerson not only has an opinion on what kind of coach the Rams need; he has someone in mind.
“Not about who’s carrying biggest stick; it’s about who’s winning. Jim Harbaugh is that guy,” Dickerson said on 570 LA Radio.
I seem to recall watching a video of Harbaugh yelling on the sideline “I want caaaake. I want it nooowww.”
If Hairballs is the next coach, hes gonna love this board…

December 2, 2016 at 8:56 pm in reply to: Scouting QB Jared Goff After 2 Games; LA Rams vs NE Patriots #60057NERamParticipantAnd yes I think this year’s Patz can be beaten. Their defense isn’t better than the Rams defense this year. And Brady’s notorious weakness is a team capable of rushing him down after down.
As disappointing as this season has been, a win over the Pats would indeed bring a brief respite to my tormented existence.
December 2, 2016 at 8:05 pm in reply to: Scouting QB Jared Goff After 2 Games; LA Rams vs NE Patriots #60052NERamParticipantI assume if he’s gonna have a really bad game,
it might be against Belichex on the Road, in the cold.Early weather prediction is expecting around 40 degrees with no precipitation for Sunday’s game. I know this ain’t sunny LA, but 40 should not present any major problems. I watched the tail end of the Pats – Jets game last week, and they looked awful. Dropped passes and bad routes; a little like our horned wonders in times past… I found myself actually thinking that the Rams could beat these pukes. Will they? I don’t know. But watching how poorly the Pats played, I got the sense that they could. GW should commit to putting a collar on Edelman, taking away one of Bradys favorite targets. Gronk is already out due to injury, so, you limit Bradys options and then let the D-line have their way with him.
NERamParticipantWarner??? Bulger??? Not sure.
NERamParticipantSo what Arians should have said, IMO, is “ha ha we have better luck keeping a starting qb than you do.” Cause anything else he might have said just simply follows from that.
Absolutely agree with you on this, here. The injuries (and Foles meltdown) at the QB position, and other injuries at key positions have all played a huge part in contributing to the losing records. No question about that.
My original point wasn’t trying to dismiss any of that. Rather, it was directed at a particular comment, at a particular point in time; specifically, after a loss to a #3 QB. And for me, it brought back memories of losses to San Fran with Pro Bowler Jim Druckenmiller at QB, and to Seattle with Hall of Famer Charlie Freaking Whitehurst at QB. Games where the Rams could have and probably should have taken advantage of a probable chink in their opponents armor.
And its these “L’s” that should be “W’s” that are the frustrating points, IMO. I can handle a loss to a better team – I don’t like it, but at least I can look at it and think well, with a tweak here or there, or a play made here or there, they might have pulled it off. But shooting yourself in the foot with dumb penalties, and mediocre play when the team is pretty healthy, is depressing.
I honestly have no idea what happened this year. Last year closed out with a fairly optimistic expectation that the D was hopefully going to remain decent, and that CK could safely navigate the O, with Gurley, until such time that Goff was ready to step in. It all made sense, until it didn’t .
I think that X posted something about putting players on the field who are physically gifted, but perhaps do not possess good football minds. They show flashes of brilliance, but not continual excellence. Maybe there’s something to that. I don’t know.NERamParticipantI do NOT want to be heaving my walker at the television set.
LOL, the last time I think I threw something at the TV was the Superbowl. I was convinced that the Titans were going to score, and so a bag of Doritos was thrown in utter disgust at the scene unfolding before my eyes. And then the tackle happened, and I happily and gratefully vacuumed up the mess.
Now, I just shake my head, and quietly shut the game off, upset with myself for investing yet another 3 hours of my time.
NERamParticipantWell if you approach it that way, what are the Cardinals historically in terms of winning percentage?
Right now they’re 4-5-1 and lost to the Rams.
(Actually I looked it up, historically their winning percentage is 0.415).
That statement from Arians came after AZ beat STL on a Thurs night game, for their 11th win of 2014. They did so without Carson Palmer, and were able to finish out the game without #2, Drew Stanton, courtesy of an Aaron Donald hit, I believe. So, the Cards #3 got the job done, while the Rams went on to a 6 win season that year.
In the grander scheme of things, I suppose, nobody really looks at the overall history of a team when discussing them, you look at the here and now. And, yes, I see the Cards suck this year. Slight vindication there, but still bummed about 2016 Rams…
The post that WV put up just caught my eye, and made me think of the closeness to .500, or, 8-8. And, the quote. That’s all.
On another note, you mentioned that today was your day of celebrating Thanksgiving. Hope it’s a great one, and may the deli platter you assemble be the Mother of all Deli Platters…- This reply was modified 8 years ago by NERam.
NERamParticipantRecord (W-L-T): 544-548-21
I’m not real good at math, but that looks pretty close to the same % as 8-8.
I bristled when Arians first said that the Rams were just another 8-8 team; maybe he’s right…
NERamParticipantI thought the momentum started to swing when Robinson got called for that stupid block in the back. Goff had just scrambled for a drive continuing first down, teammates were pumped on the sideline and there was a lot of positive confidence for the rookie to build on. But nope, Robinson decides to hit someone in the back that was no where near the play, and who had no chance at all of making a play. No first down, no more time off the clock, then the crap started happening. Missed FG, then the 4th quarter penalty fest.
Bad way to lose, hand the other team the game cause you lack discipline.NERamParticipantNovember 18, 2016 at 9:11 am in reply to: qb coach Chris Weinke: Goff's skill set is 'off the charts' #58806NERamParticipant“He’s got a heck of a cadence,” Saffold said. “You almost jump listening to him. NERamParticipantHere’s why now was the time for Jared Goff to become Rams’ No. 1 QB
Charles Robinson
That’s the best article on this topic yet.
IMO.
.
Yeah, that was a really good article. Thanks for posting it.
NERamParticipantGoff will rain fiery footballs of death upon the blow holes of our enemies.
Blind Faith. Love it.
NERamParticipant“Jared, go out there–look good–not TOO good. Just okay. Do that and we can get to 7-9 and look to next year.”
LOL.
NERamParticipantThe worst that could happen is that he makes brutal mistakes that lead to headlines all over the place calling him a bust, and talking heads arrogantly piling on, and killing him and Fisher.
Well…he could throw 4 INT’s and have a couple of fumbles while holding on to it too long.
CK didn’t set the world on fire his last game but he did manage the game and kept away from the turnovers.
Hopefully he looks a lot different than he did in the pre-season.
As long as he achieves 3 FG’s with no TD’s, why should we care how he gets it done??? 😊😊😊
Just kidding, of course. I went into this season completely on board with Fishers plan to use CK as the starter, and slowly bring Goff along, as opposed to just tossing him to the wolves. I had seen enough of CK at the end of last year to at least have a good feeling going into this year that we would be good offensively. Not great, but at least good. I still havent seen or heard a good reason why this years O has been what it has been, but anything to light enough of a spark to keep fanbase excitement and also morale of the D intact has to be a good thing. I hate seeing quality players like this team has, having to put up with such minimal results. Not meant as a slam on CK, just a hope that Goff gets it going a bit better.
NERamParticipantWell, yay.
Something had to give. I mean, whats the worst thing that could happen, the Rams dont score any touchdowns, and only manage a few field goals for 60 minutes??? God forbid we sink to a despairingly low level like that.
- This reply was modified 8 years ago by NERam.
NERamParticipant————-
I guess thats two games where Ogletree sealed the win
with a late Turnover.Still not many sacks for this D or turnovers.
w
vThe Rams are 2-0 when scoring no TDs and Ogletree gets a late game turnover.
Theres the argument for leaving Goff on the bench until he fully develops, huh? Quite a success formula.
NERamParticipantI’ll be interested in where the Defense ranks
after that game.I’ll also be interested to see where they rank
after the Saint and Patriot gamesw
vThe offense will be rank, you can be sure of that.
NERamParticipantAnother nailbiter. Who woulda thunk it???
NERamParticipant————-
Agreed.
I just think a LOT of long-suffering-totally-frustrated ram-fans
are desperate to see some sort of ‘light’ for the future.
So they want to see the 21year-old Goff NOW.I will agree with your agreement, and toss in the early success for Wentz and Prescott, which doubles the pain for Rams fans.
—
And Bradford, for that matter.w
vAh, yes. The reincarnation of Samuel Jacob Bradford. One more sadistic twist of the proctologists scope for Rams nation.
Although, not a straight rookie to rookie comparison like the other two, but certainly a painful reminder of what might have been.
I think with Sam, Fisher was damned if he did, and damned if he didn’t. No way could he risk keeping Sam, and watch ANOTHER injury maybe take him out. He had to make the move. Its just the Rams draw that Sam comes back as strong as he did.

NERamParticipantI agree with all of that. I was pretty much playing devil’s advocate for the sake of discussion, and considered starting that post with an announcement that I was playing devil’s advocate.
In light of the fact that Zack is handing out free pie to anybody who disagrees nicely, I’d say that was a pretty slick move on your part. Nicely played, Zooey.
