I’ve said it enough times that I won’t belabor the point, but I will say it again: Michael Sam won’t JUST make this roster, he will contribute.

Personally, I hope he not only contributes, but has a William Hayes like season with 5+ sacks and some big hits in the run game where OCs realize that he’s not “just a sub they think they can take advantage of”. I REALLY, REALLY want him to play well.

    Listen here, you Seahawk fan.

Don’t come spitting all that negativity ’round here.

Quick’s finally coming into his own, see. He’s finally gonna play how he’s practiced…

Now, don’t you have an umbrella to fold?

If Britt and Quick and Austin all play as well as they look like they are ready to play and they all stay healthy and Bailey and just one more receiver steps up, this offense will be top 10. The combo of Zac Stacy and Tre Mason will be really something and create tons of opportunities in the passing game.

I like that we have guys in the pipeline like Jones this year and Christian Bryant next year who have the potential to be difference makers in this league.

It seems we aren’t just building for now, but building a sustainable program of winning. That’s very encouraging.

Well, we already know that the Rose Bowl could be used for a year… potentially. The city leaders would love it and residents would hate it, but it would bring in tons of revenue to Pasadena and the NFL already has approved the Rose Bowl for Super Bowls in the past and it’s an “approved” venue in that respect.

Inglewood is a MUCH better site than Irwindale where the Raiders were considering building or the City of Industry where one of the big stadiums was looking at being built.

If you’re going to build in SoCal, you have to build near the money and that’s westside…Beverly Hills, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica….etc. Plus, it’s not THAT far from the valley money, be it San Marino in the San Gabriel valley or Studio City in the San Fernando Valley.

I can see the Rams moving to LA, but probably not before 2017 or 2018. Takes time for these things to happen. That said, I can see the Rams, if it were to happen, moving there and playing in Pasadena in 2016.

Stadiums take time to build, especially the billion dollar, state of the art, “return to LA”, Premiere NFL showcase type stadium venues like what would likely be built.

So I expect IF…IF things go the way of LA, it will happen very deliberately.

I dunno why, but I have this very strong feeling that TJ Moe shouldn’t be counted out of the mix. Like… I think the Rams will keep six and Moe will make the six… and the first four weeks will be an audition for that 6th spot for a few guys.

I think Britt, Austin and Bailey will be safe come week Five. The rest will have to show why they should stay on the team.

TJ Moe really intrigues me and strikes me as a guy who if he doesn’t have another freak injury will force the coaches to keep him by just making play after play. Whether that means losing Pettis or Quick or Givens, I dunno, but I think if any one of the WRs has a chance to be disruptive and crack the top 6, it’s TJ Moe.

And I actually think he will. Just have this spidey-sense about him…

I think our defense defense should be called WORLD WAR D… after World War Z, the movie. Our D will attack ball carriers like the zombies attacked humans in that movie… In swarms… With blinding speed… In such overwhelming fashion that we shock the mind and stun the senses.

    WORLD WAR D.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I dunno, wv. The league’s actually been doing at least a BETTER job of calling the playoffs closer to the regular season officiating than they used to. Part of it is that with so many pregame hours, the networks and various sports media outlets have to keep churning out “content” and thus officiating will always be part of the story. As such, the old way of “let them play” which severely affected the outcome of games and was very controversial has become less tolerated by fans and pundits alike and the league simply wants to put out a non-controversial product that sells.

So, I would expect that while we may still see a teensy bit of “let them play”, I would be surprised if we see the Legion of Boom style allowed to be repeated in the 2014 playoffs.

    Very surprised, actually.

I think Bailey comes back right as the schedule gets tough… which means that teams that think they know the Rams offense…won’t… because Bailey is really that good. And combined with Britt who I think is going to have a standout year, I think Bailey will really stress those defenses in that really tough 8 game mid-season stretch.

Right, TD. They can learn and train. They can’t practice. Mental reps and rehab while they see and acclimate to the speed of the pro game. And they have a year to attend meetings so that they can learn the defense, which is huge because usually the brain is behind the body… So, for both physical specimens, their bodies will be able to quickly catch up to their brains…

I’m especially excited about Christian Bryant. I think he’s a STEAL and will be a big deal for the Rams.

    Bout damn time.

Sherman’s very smart. He (and I’m sure his coaches) recognized that the league values the “TV contract” more than the rules of the game…otherwise offensive holding by OL would be called on nearly every play. It’s not, for several reasons. Same with cut/chop blocks that injure both OL and DL and used to make defenses HATE any offense that used “zone blocking” techniques like Denver used to because it meant going after guy’s knees.

Same shit New England did in SB36.

I really hope they enforce this rule.

    A lot.

depends on how we get to 7-9.

if we’re healthy and go 7-9, then I totally agree with you.

If we have injuries like in 2011, then going 7-9 versus 2-14 would be huge.

The key will be our health and how our depth responds. I think Shaun Hill will be huge if Bradford misses any time.

I think the first four games will tell us all we need to know, ESPECIALLY the Philly game.

If we beat Philly, that’s a really good sign.

If we tank against Philly, it’s a really bad sign.

I think beating Philly AND going at least 3-1 will be HUGE for how we start the year. If we can do that, we’ll be on our way to a really good season. If we go 2-2 and lose to Philly, then we’ll struggle to get 7 wins with that beast of a mid-season stretch of 8 games…

    WOW.

I called the Christian Bryant deal. It’s essentially a medical red-shirt. I didn’t realize that Westbrooks had any issues, but it’s smart, if he’s got even the slightest ding, better to pay him (they’ve already paid him $50k) and keep him in the building learning and training and then he’ll be that much farther along next year.

For both players, this has the potential to be a VERY smart move, a move that requires INVESTMENT, so something that Kroenke does to win that previous ownership would never do, and has the potential to maintain the dominance of our DL as Chris Long ages and continues to stockpile talent with the goal of improving our secondary with a potential game changer in Bryant.

I think based on the remaining players and their talent, it makes it Michael Sam’s job to lose. Not that the Rams will put it that way or that he’ll think of it that way, but I think if everyone plays to their talent, Sam will win the job. Doesn’t always happen which is why they’ll have to earn the job at camp and during preseason games…

A solid tier 2 QB, meaning he’s a guy who flirts with the Pro Bowl, but isn’t one of the Top 5 QBs in the game and plays well enough to lead his offense into the playoffs is plenty good enough for me.

Brockers and Ogletree are my Vets who should break out.

Aaron Donald and Lamarcus Joyner are the rookies that I truly expect to breakout as rookies. I think Aaron Donald will vie for rookie DPOY and I think Lamarcus will be such a veteran presence as a rookie that he’ll become a regular player if not our starting nickel by mid-season if not by game 1.

I think Gregg Williams will have the Safeties playing much better and more accountably such that the corners will be able to do their jobs aggressively. Even if all the DBs do is create a slight doubt in the QBs mind, they’ve done their job. That doubt creates hesitation or flight path alteration and that leads to incompletions and interceptions.

Plus, with Williams being WILLING to blitz whenever, we’ll see linemen biting on blitzes that don’t happen and our already dominant DL getting some easy shots.

It’ll be open season on opposing QBs…

So… I don’t get Tony Dungy. Michael Vick wasn’t “too much of a distraction” coming out of prison with all of the boycotts and people picketing and giving up their season tickets because they’d NEVER pay to see him play on principle? That whole situation wasn’t too much…, but Michael Sam…is?

I’m sorry, but that completely pegged my Bullshit-o-meter.

Anyone know where I can get one serviced? It’s an Acme model BS-182a

I know it’s an older, analog model, but I like that the needle sweeps. Plus, it picks up all kinds of older BS that the newer, digital models don’t pick up. It’s not as sensitive to some of the newer BS obviously, but I don’t generally need it for online stuff, anyway, so it suits my needs.

Christian Bryant is a difference maker. If he’s not healed, I bet they IR him for the season so that they retain his rights rather than try to get him on the PS.

If he gets healthy, I think Bryant somehow makes the team… Probably displacing Matt Daniels.

Also wouldn’t surprise me if Rhaney made the PS. Depends if he gets enough reps…

So much for Kluwe being a liar, and so many in the NFL circling the wagons around Priefer.

As for Kluwe’s latest statements, “The NFL is a league where you can get redemption for killing someone, for beating your wife in an elevator, for driving drunk, for a whole variety of things but when you speak out for civil rights, that’s the one thing you cannot get redeemed for,” Kluwe added.

And Kluwe isn’t the only one. Ask Brandon Ayenbadejo how the employment outlook has been. And Kerry Rhodes WAS one of the top Free Safeties in the NFL. Then someone “outed” him in 2012 and all of a sudden, he simply cannot find work in the NFL while it is the most passing oriented it’s ever been.

Michael Sam, SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year was FINALLY drafted in the SEVENTH round by a very secure coach with deep league ties in a largely symbolic move.

NOT in the last decade has the SEC Defensive player of the year been drafted outside of the FIRST round. Not all of them were certain at the next level. However, based on their level of competition and the volume of production that warrants such an honor, teams understand that the SEC DPOY is someone worthy of a 1st round pick. Unless he’s gay.

What the NFL is STILL saying at the corporate and management level is that the NFL isn’t safe for gays or those who advocate for them.

I think the players and fans may change that…eventually.

But seriously… as long as the NFL operates under the paradigm of forgetting about those fired, blacklisted or ostracized and then give minor penalties to those who cause the problems, then I dunno who long it will take to see real progress

I agree with all of that except I have Sam first and Westbrooks second. There were times Westbrooks dominated lesser competition and times he looked lost to me. Sam, while not having combine numbers, always seemed like a football player with a high motor and high football IQ to me. I’d love to see Sam make the squad and Westbrooks survive on the PS, but this league won’t let a Waufle coached rook sit for free on some PS…

Then again, it’s Coach Williams, so it may be neither of them if someone else totally steps up and makes the decision for them.
