JackPMillerParticipant
Welcome back, Jack.
I was afraid Zooey enticed you over to the Raiders board.
How about that Arizona game, huh?
Happy we beat them. I feel we should be undefeated though. It felt like we did not show up for the Washington Racists game. Pittsburgh, I still feel Britt caught the ball. Don’t care what most people say, the refs stole that game from us. I believe we have no shot in He// to beat the Packers in Green Bay.
JackPMillerParticipantSan Francisco Warriors used to play at the Cow Palace near SF, then moved to Oakland in the early 70’s and changed the name to represent California, not only Oakland…..e.g., when they moved to Oakland, they changed the name to Golden State, not Oakland…
Golden State represents the state of California not the Golden Gate bridge… the Golden Gate Bridge doesn’t even touch Oakland. The bridge that you see on their jersey’s is not the Golden Gate bride, it’s the Bay Bridge that connects Oakland to SF.
Thanks. I did not know that. I feel stupid for not knowing that either. Then again,I have never been to the west coast.
JackPMillerParticipantGo Warriors!!!! It’s been 40 years since the Warriors won a championship, it’s been a remarkable season for the Golden State….
BTW…..I was talking to my boss from France who lived in Houston and is pulling for the Rockets…. he thought that Golden State was based in New Jersey…….. they’re moving to San Francisco soon, I hope they keep Golden State as their name.
Before changing to Golden State, they called were known as the San Fransisco Warriors. Hopefully your boss now knows, Golden State was based on the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Warriors would not of sounded right, so it got changed to Golden State.
May 25, 2015 at 12:27 am in reply to: Daniel Rodriguez was the only player at Rams Park with a Purple Heart #25234JackPMillerParticipantRams WR, Army vet Daniel Rodriguez one to root for
By Conor Orr
Around The NFL WriterThis Memorial Day is the perfect time to recognize the ultimate sacrifice made by our veterans.
It’s also a time to marvel at the accomplishments of people like Army vet Daniel Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was signed after a rookie tryout with the Rams. As a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient, he has absolutely nothing left to prove and yet, he’s trying to prove he can make the Rams’ 53-man roster.
“When they invited me, I was like, ‘Heck yeah, I would love to try out,'” Rodriguez told the team’s website. “I’ve got nothing to lose. They flew me out here and I thought I was only going to be here for a two-day trial. And they said I had a pretty good workout, made some plays, and they offered to have me stay. It was one of those things that I couldn’t really believe happened, and it was all a whirlwind. I didn’t know what was going to happen. I had invitations to other minicamps down the road, and I was just trying to take advantage of every one. And this one was the first one and it stuck. Honestly, it was a blessing in disguise.”
The long read on Rodriguez is well worth your time. He made an emotional promise to a fellow soldier that he’d play college football, only to see that friend lost in combat. He fought in the Battle of Kamdesh, one of the ugliest conflicts in Afghanistan.
On top of spending time around your grill today, be sure to give it a read and remember why we have this holiday in the first place.
JackPMillerParticipantI give it a grade of a C+. Of course that depends on Gurley’s health, which could be moved to a B-, or even a B. Gurley is a risk because of the ACL.
JackPMillerParticipantWhere is Greg Bell, Robert Delpino, Cullen Bryant, Tank Younger, “Deacon” Dan Towler, Ollie Matson, Barry Redden, and Mike Guman?
JackPMillerParticipantThese are just my opinions
1. Todd Gurley RB Georgia – Will be on the roster, but may sit out for awhile until his knee is 100%
2. Rob Havenstein OT Wisconsin – expect him to make the roster, and suit up
3a. Jamon Brown OT/OG Louisville – expect him to make the roster, and suit up
3b.Sean Mannion QB Oregon State – expect him to make the roster, and suit up, will take over number 3, as Davis and Keenum will compete to make roster.
4. Andrew Donnal OT Iowa – expect him to make roster, but may not suit up unless there are injuries.
6a. Bud Sasser WR Missouri – may make roster, but will have to show he can play special teams. More likely he will be on the practice squad
6b. Cody Wichmann OG Fresno State – probably see him practice squad
7a. Bryce Hager ILB Baylor – probably see him on the practice squad
7b. Martin Ifedi DE Memphis – probably see him on the practice squad
JackPMillerParticipantI would have taken Brett Hundley, but I am going to trust the Rams brass. For me, I feel that Mannion could have made it to us in the next round
JackPMillerParticipantSo we passed on Cam Erving? A potential long term answer at OC?
My lord, this is dumb.
Erving can play Guard and Tackle as well. He was a very good LT for FSU, that moved to Center, because FSU felt they had no one on the roster of playing it. I can see Erving playing OG.
JackPMillerParticipant2015 NFL Draft: Rams gets C+ for picking RB Todd Gurley at No. 10

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer
April 30, 2015 9:21 pm ETGeorgia running back Todd Gurley was drafted by the Rams with the 10th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Gurley is an explosive, game-breaking playmaker, but CBSSports.com’s Pete Prisco doesn’t like the pick, giving it a C+ as a luxury pick of sorts.
“I don’t think the Rams are in a spot to be able to take a back this high,” Prisco said. “But then again it’s Jeff Fisher. He loves to run it.”

@PriscoCBSGurley is good, but are the Rams at the point they can afford that luxury?

Gurley is the first running back taken in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2012 and the highest taken since Trent Richardson went third overall to the Browns that year.
Don’t wanna say I called it, but I actually called it, predicting Jeff Fisher would double down and take Gurley with the 10th pick this year in my mock. It’s my one saving grace, really.
I’d wholeheartedly disagree. The Rams have a setup with no real No. 1 wideout, Nick Foles at quarterback and need to be dominant in the run game. They have Zac Stacy and Tre Mason, but the reality is that Gurley, who is coming off an ACL injury he suffered in November while playing for the Bulldogs, is a much more dominant overall running back.
That’s doesn’t mean Stacy is happy about it.

JackPMillerParticipantWho is blocking for Gurley? Is Tre Mason on the trade block? Once Scherff was gone, I thought trade down made sense, and then draft an Olineman.

JackPMillerParticipantBased on my mock I have us getting
1. Brandon Sherff OT/OG Iowa
2. Laken Tomlinson OG Duke
3. Brett Hundley QB UCLA
4. Derron Smith FS Fresno State
6. Lynden Trail DE Norfolk State
7. Jordan Taylor WR RiceApril 22, 2015 at 10:55 pm in reply to: So the great debate continues to divide Ramdom — how good is Barksdale? #23025JackPMillerParticipantBarksdale struggled last season in pass protection, allowing seven sacks and more pressures than any other player on the Rams, according to Pro Football Focus. Some quietly positive run blocking on an offensive line that didn’t generate much push in the ground game didn’t save him, as it’s hard to ignore the fact that just three offensive tackles (Ja’Wuan James, Matt Kalil, and fellow free agent Byron Bell…not exactly good company) allowed more pressure than him last season.
Truthfully, I feel that Barksdale’s struggles lastyear was due to the problems we had a RG and C, Davin Joseph and Scott Wells per say. Barksdale tried to do more, but those guys really made it bad for him. If we get Barksdale back, and get the Right Guard and Center positions cleaned up, he will then be fine again.

JackPMillerParticipantI took notice is our game against Green Bay is on CBS, not Fox. That looks weird to me.
JackPMillerParticipantWe should start out 3-0. Then again, we are known to start out slow. If this team plays like we should coming out, 3-0 should be easy. Playing Arizona and Green Bay on the road, OK, those probably ill be losses. Based on the scheduling this team should be 7-2 after week 9. We come back to which we should win 4 games after the bye. Of course, that is my opinion.
JackPMillerParticipantSteven baker is our third tackle? I think i’m gonna be sick.
I am less concerned about Barksdale than most, i think.
I really dont care if they resign him — I think he’s pretty ordinary.
I actually wouldnt mind three stud-rookies starting. Or scrounging
for another vet-Olineman and going with two rookies and some other vet.I know a lot of folks dont want three rookies but I
am more concerned about ‘quality’ than experience
at this point.w
vI want to feel secure nextyear. Like rfl stated, we would have tee rookies, add on top, that Robinson is going into his second year, and Robinson is technically a rookie since he did not start, if correct, until week 8? This team is a playoff caliber team, is a playoff caliber team, and I do not want to feel scared of not being able to protect the QB. Barksdale looked bad, because he had Davin Joseph and Scott Wells at RG and C. I’d rather draft a LG, and and have Saffold move back to RG, and run between the RT and RG positions.
JackPMillerParticipantwe have a magical year and win the Super Bowl, would it still be considered a lame duck season? Just wondering.
I have thot about that.
It would not shock me if the Rams won the Super Bowl next season.
If the Oline came together and the secondary came together…Its not out
of the realm of whats reasonable to consider. If the Oline dont get fixed, another 7 or 8 win season is staring
Fisher in the face. Which is why i think he’ll draft two Olinemen early.w
vI am believing he will draft an Olineman in round 1, and round 3. I feel a QB may be drafted in round 2.
JackPMillerParticipantFisher could be the first coach fired after winning a
soupersuper bowl?If Fisher does get fired, I believe he would be the 2nd Head Coach to be fired after winning the Super Bowl. If correct Jimmie Johnson was the first. After winning a Super Bowl in Dallas.
JackPMillerParticipantSo that means just one free agent o-lineman.
Joe Barksdale? Just hoping.
JackPMillerParticipantOne of the most underrated rappers, Big Pun. His music still lives on
JackPMillerParticipantPirates, Padres, Angels, Royals? I don’t see it boss.
Why not?
March 28, 2015 at 11:54 pm in reply to: McShay, others speculate Rams might be interested in Mariota #21707JackPMillerParticipantMariota does not fit. He is a spread QB like Sam Bradford. How about Brett Hundley in round 2? UCLA/LA connection? It looks like the Rams may be moving back to LA. Just a thought.
JackPMillerParticipantWhat about trading down? Maybe there are a few guys listed closely and they feel it may better to trade down, and believe one the BPA’s will still be there. Or vice versa
JackPMillerParticipantGetting Barksdale back would be big for us. Praying he is back in the fold.
JackPMillerParticipantI’m sorry.
But its true.
Frodo was goofy looking
and Folsy is goofier still.Thats my analysis
from my flu-bed
this morning.Also. Did you know —
that if you mix Nyquil
WITH Dayquil, it turns
purple. Yes.Alrighty then.
w
vNot sure if Steve McNair was goofy looking. He was a winner.
JackPMillerParticipantSecond, either way, next year’s qb draft class is far better than this one. If they want another guy, this is the way to do it, IMO.
Outside of Conner Cook and possibly Cardale Jones, I don’t see it.
JackPMillerParticipantThe guy I really want is Cook in 2016 and we have an extra second now to help make that happen. 2016 will have some decent QBs.
Cook could end up as the first pick in the NFL nextyear.
JackPMillerParticipantI think Barksdale is overestimating his value. I think he wants 6 million. He isn’t going to get that.
To me, I am alright with him at $6 million. With all the crazy contracts that are normally signed, $6 million is not a killer. I am one that does not like to way overpay for players. To me, that is not as bad.
JackPMillerParticipantApparently this Eagle fan is not too happy. Lots of cursing in the video.
