The #Browns are signing OT Greg Robinson to a 1-year deal to be their left tackle, source said. The former No. 2 overall pick has a new life.

i wish him all the luck.

always loved him as a prospect. loads of potential.

    The Meat of the Draft
    .
Rounds two and three. It’s a good year to have six picks between 32 and 101

rams should trade back and get an extra pick if this is true.

they need a nose tackle, linebackers, a safety.

assuming they get the oline back.

I don’t trust Suh. I don’t trust Peters. But, whatever.

i wonder though how you replace a nose tackle, a cornerback, and a safety in one off-season.

i hope whit and saffold come back.

whattya think about fowler? i’d let him go somewhere else. rather sign a guy like anthony barr.

And Zac Robinson immediately becomes the top head coaching candidate available in 2020.

haha! seriously though. i’m putting my faith in mcvay that this will be good for goff.

i don’t know much about henderson or robinson. but on the surface. young up and coming. a reputation for teaching. i’m liking these hires.

    we’ll see.

Davis is excellent. But he’s not the best player in the league.

oh i think he absolutely is worth it.

he along with giannis is the prototype for the next generational player.

he can score, rebound, pass, handle, defend. his three point shooting has improved to the point that defenders have to respect the shot. he and lebron would present too many problems for other teams. i can just imagine the two of them running pick and rolls.

The Patz D always had 2 calls–one to show pre-snap, and then the actual D they played at the snap.

well my point remains. a 27 year old goff should react much better than the current 24 year old goff. he should get better.

The Rams defense kept them in it to the end. But McVay coaches the offense, and it struggled the entire game.

well as head coach i put it all on him. so while the offense struggled the defense kept them in it. yes wade is the dc, but i credit mcvay for the entire team’s performance.

But the universal take on that game from analysts who know how to do film (guys like Simms and Polian etc) is that McVay had trouble adjusting to what BB was doing.

i agree. mcvay got outcoached. but i wonder if at least part of the problem was goff failing to recognize what the defense was doing. i remember during the broadcast romo saying that the rams would let the clock wind down until the headset was cut out. romo speculated it was cuz he didn’t want the pats d to key in on the rams’ formations. but maybe it also put more of an onus on goff to make presnap adjustments. this is not a slam on goff. but maybe he needs to get better at recognizing it on his own. and he’s been in the offense now for only 2 years. he’s also still learning to adjust how defenses are playing him. he’ll learn as will sean.

an aside note. in addition to playing more 12 personnel, i also wonder if mcvay should have run more no huddle. just a thought.

also. i read that gurley runs more effectively out of 11 personnel while anderson runs better out of 12 personnel. look i don’t think gurley was fully healthy. at that point why not go more out of 12 personnel and run the heck out of anderson? get tight ends more involved in the passing game.

i’m a little troubled at how badly beaten this oline would get at times.

not sure if it was the oline or perhaps goff was getting confused and not making proper adjustments.

but i do hope whit and saffold are back next year.

What did his team produce? A boring, low-scoring, mistake-filled game, matched by a slightly worse game by the opposition.

i would disagree that it was poorly played.

boring perhaps. but i thought both defenses played very well.

I think it’s pretty clear McV was completely outcoached.

i don’t know that he was “completely” outcoached.

i definitely think he was outcoached, but it depends on what you mean by “completely”.

it was 3-3 in the fourth quarter. they even had a chance to tie it in the end before a pats fg made it 13-3.

the rams were definitely in it until the end.

i just think mcvay has to have an answer when the 3 wr formations aren’t working. shoulda gone with more 2 tight end sets.

he’d add a whole new dimension to the offense.

i know nothing of this mack wilson.

To me, the game of football at the NFL level is far more about brute force, speed, agility and just flat out physical superiority — on the field — than anything else.

i would agree with that when it comes to college football.

in the pros, especially now, there’s so much parity. all athletes are fast and strong at this level. in a sport like basketball i would agree that athleticism trumps everything else. individuals are much more likely to take over a game. but in football every part had to be in sync with each other. coaching can’t help but play a part. although i agree execution of the players has to happen or the best scheme in the world won’t matter.

so maybe genius is too strong a word, but he’s the best in the business right now. quite possibly the best ever.

you do however make great points. it can’t ever be just one thing or the other. i guess our disagreement lies in how much of a difference coaching makes.

i do think a healthy todd gurley or even a healthy kupp could have been the difference. so this is also not a knock on mcvay. he’s a helluva coach. the difference between mcvay and belichick might largely just be experience. then again i think the rams struck oil with mcvay. he’s potentially special.

and i do place some blame on goff. he’s only 24. he’ll get better. someone put some numbers up of some very good qbs and their first playoff game against belichick. so goff ain’t the first qb to struggle against him.

    gonna be a long off-season.

To me, Belichek is good, not “great.” And he’s no “genius.” Far too many close games that could have gone either way. Personally, I reserve the “genius” level for someone who dominates, obliterates, wipes out his opponents.

    who would that be then?

i’m sorry. i hate belichick as much as anybody. but 9 superbowl appearances and 6 victories?

and this last one with brady playing like crap?

he’s proven his greatness. i mean he’s a bastard, but he’s gotten his teams to play at a high level for years.

probably the greatest dynasty in the modern era of sports i’d say.

i’d be happy if mcvay could achieve even half of his success.

i still think mcvay got outcoached. the more i read the more i’m convinced. he’s like a boxer with a great right hand but once you figure it out you can negate the right. and he’s got nothing to counter with. he’s gotta figure it out. i think he will.

belichick is the opposite. his teams are able to adapt. but the guy’s been coaching forever. his resume is older than mcvay.

mcvay has to come up with a counter to the 11 personnel. teams will be studying tape of the superbowl, the chi game. the det game. the phi game. he’s gotta come up with an answer or the rams will regress. i think he will.

I don’t, I honestly think he learns from this.

    i’m… not exactly doubt… but i’m anxious.

    gonna be a long season.

but every time they knock this kid down, he gets back up and comes harder.

so no. not exactly doubt. but i wanna get next season started already.

one thing mcvay has to do is come up with a counterpunch.

all the rams had was the 3 wr sets. i keep reading how belichick sold out to defend against this set, and the rams had no answer.

they gotta be able to mix it up more next year. if higbee and everett aren’t the answer, they gotta find it in the off-season.

i know part of the success was due to the rams having no running game, but they still gotta switch it up.

and another thing. no one really talks about how crappy brady played in that game. and he had a running game which goff did not.

One other thing…and I haven’t seen anybody reference this yet, and I thought it was a big momoment – I would have taken one of those penalties with 2:25 left in the game to push NE out of FG range. I don’t get it.

if i’m remembering the same one, romo explained it. if the rams had taken either of the penalities, the clock would continue to roll. by not taking the penalty. they in effect gave themselves another timeout. otherwise, pats take it down to 2 minutes. milk even more time off the clock.

romo i believe asked the guest ref for confirmation of this and he confirmed that romo was right in his logic.

it was more a matter of preserving time. a better chance of scoring and then getting a quick onside and scoring again.

either way the chances were miniscule.

They need to have Kupp healthy next year. They need to have Gurley healthy next year. And they need to get some depth on the OLine. Thats about it.

well if whit retires, i might crap my pants. i hope noteboom is ready if so.

i also think they need to upgrade tight end, but that’s low on the list of priorities.

i’d say a new safety, outside pass rush, oline depth, and defensive end first.

The late throw from Goff to Cooks in the back of the endzone. Literally 1 second earlier and thats 7.

yeah. goff was late on that throw. at the time i was thinking he’s gotta get that out a half second earlier.

Goff played like the youngest QB to ever play in the super bowl. Still could see the talent.

i gotta believe that goff will use this and get better.

proud of him. look forward to seeing him play for years to come.

So many expected Super Bowl LIII to be an offensive shootout, but instead it was a schematic fight between two of the game’s best coaches

it was a good game. just wish it had gone the other way.

but belichick’s been coaching longer than mcvay’s been alive.

    sigh.
