    PFF LA Rams@PFF_Rams
Guard David Edwards stepped up big this week, earning his highest pass-blocking grade of his career!

Edwards’ pass-block grade so far this season ranks 3rd among all OL, trailing only Ali Marpet and Ronnie Stanley

i keep saying this, but i really like edwards. i think edwards deserves to be starting over noteboom.

it’s unfortunate that they lost barkley for the season. i mean. i can’t even tell you who else plays on that offense.

    J.B. Long@JB_Long
Highest-graded @RamsNFL in Week 3 loss at BUF (PFF):

    AD99 – 87.7
    Goff – 85.3
    Edwards – 83.2
    Kupp – 81.6
    Fox – 81.1
    Havenstein – 80.6
    Henderson – 80.5

edwards. i really like this guy. i don’t know about at left tackle. but at least at guard.

henderson looks like a starting rb. i think the henderson/akers combo (when akers gets healthy) will be something else.

On defense it’s Donald and Ramsey in the top 10 and everyone else is worse than 30th. Some guys are ranked no better than bartenders. Ebukam is 106, the worst OLB in the league.

yeah. ebukam looks terrible. just terrible.

lewis is eligible to come back. can’t be worse than ebukam???

maybe some jonah williams in the second half???

i do think the defense in the second half will be better than the first half version.

I’m pissed. We were robbed. That pass interference call was bogus. Darrius Williams had a right to the position.

but also the refs blew the call on the josh allen interception. it all evens out.

Yeah, it’s early, but we can see what’s there to see. It’s not just one thing. The OL is far more solid than it was after 3 games last year, AND the running game is clicking the way it wasn’t by this time last year, AND JG is far more confident and (like you said) in control.

Compare Goff’s first 3 games last year and this year.

    2019: 66 of 105, 62.8%, 246 ypg, 7.0 ypa, 4 TDs, 3 Ints, 3 fumbles w/ 2 lost, 2 games w/ qb rating below 80.
    2020: 63 of 90, 70%, 287.7 ypg, 9.6 ypa, 5 TDs, 2 Ints, 0 fumbles, 1 game w/ qb rating below 80.

i’m actually comparing him to 2017 and 2018.

2017 and 2018 goff started out hotter than 2020 goff. but i think he looks better this year.

it’s early. but what would cement it for me is more consistency from goff this year. in 2017 and 2018, he’d go on stretches where he’d be in a funk. for whatever reason. what i want to see this year is less dips over the 16 game season.

he looks different. statistically he’s actually started better out the gate than he has this season. but he somehow looks more in control this season. i don’t know. it’s still too early. it’s only been 3 games. need more data.

what i want to see from him is consistency. in previous years it seemed like goff would go through some funks after looking like a world beater before. i want to see less dips.

There’s maybe one area of genuine concern for me as it pertains to the Rams – the pass rush. Outside of Aaron Donald, they’re just bad. They made some big plays down the line today (mostly #99) but they have barely gotten any pressure over 3 games now.

    Very concerning.

yeah. again. i hope lewis comes back healthy and stays healthy. he could be the key to truly unlocking this defense… into becoming a lockdown defense???

    rams need a pass rush.

    that missed fg really hurts.

defense has to get better. donald is the best, but he can’t do it all himself. my hope is that lewis can make an impact. he’s got the physical ability but can he stay healthy? i hope to see jonah williams at some point too.

ebukam stinks. he’s not good enough.

And I don’t know what “escape hatches” Goff lost.

i don’t watch other football teams, so i can’t comment on them. but i will comment on the rams.

goff has 4 legitimate targets in woods, kupp, higbee, and now jefferson.

and despite having 4 legitimate targets, the rams are third in the league in rushing attempts (actually second if you exclude the dolphins third game on thursday. and they’re third in the league in rushing yards.

so as dangerous as their passing offense is, mcvay believes in the rams’ running game that much.

they are 30th in passing attempts but third in ypa. so it’s not like mcvay is afraid of passing it cuz when they do they do some serious damage.

that’s a lot for any defense to handle.

and while they did lose noteboom, i’m actually a lot higher on edwards than i was on joseph. i think he’ll be better in the run game, and he should be good enough in the passing game. it’s too bad akers can’t play.

should be interesting to see how this offense holds up over 16 games.

No QB is more dangerous from a clean pocket than Aaron Rodgers

Through two weeks of play, Goff is now third in the NFL in passing grade (86.1) and second in the rate of uncatchable passes thrown (10%).

wow. just wow. i don’t watch other football games too much, so it’s nice to see some comparisons.

just behind rodgers and ahead of brady with a clean pocket??? third in overall passing grade? he’s also fourth in ypa.

still too early in the season, but i hope it continues.

another big test for the defense.

i’m not as high on this defense as others are. although they have the potential to get better.

    it’s gonna be close.

Sean McVay says they will probably place LG Joe Noteboom on injured reserve.

i thought edwards played better when he was in…

i would prefer edwards going forward anyway.

maybe the rams and the nfl know something the rest don’t.

they wouldn’t just hand out money without knowing how much money they will have at their disposal.

I kind of like Cowherd as far as talking heads goes. He has been one of the few national people who seems to actually know what he is actually talking about rather than just spending his energy getting Edgy with conventional wisdom. That thing that just happened in this thread is an example of how the media gets the Rams wrong all the time. Really, last year, everybody just thought Goff isn’t that good, and teams figured McVay out. That was just what everybody said. Cowherd seems better informed, at least about the Rams. I don’t know about other teams. Maybe he’s a Rams fan and actually watches their games, I dunno.

i’d also guess that he’s got a pretty good research team.

The Rams’ offensive turnaround through the first two weeks of the season is pretty remarkable, given the extent to which the rest of the league appeared to figure Sean McVay out and turn Jared Goff into a pumpkin as a result.

Another way to put that is this: “The Rams’ offensive production is back to normal now that they have a healthy OL.”

    I know, I know…to-MAY-to, to-MAH-to.

    i agree. that’s well put.

    4. Buffalo Bills (2-0)
Last week: Win at Miami 31-28
This week: vs. Los Angeles Rams

Raise your hand if you expected Josh Allen to be leading the NFL in passing through Week 2. On one hand, I’m tempted to say: please show me how they perform against teams that aren’t the Jets or a banged-up Dolphins. On the other, this is exactly what you try and do with developing QBs—you create a runway and build confidence.

i’m curious to see how the rams defense deals with allen.

Gurley had the after burners. I rate Faulk, Jackson, Dickerson better than Gurley. Gurley had the extraordinary speed, he did not have the running ability those guys had. imo

he needed four more great seasons to be mentioned in the same sentence as faulk.

two more great seasons, and he’s in eric dickerson territory.

four more above average seasons, and he’s comparable to jackson.

as it is he only had two great seasons and two decent seasons.

i loved watching gurley when he was on. almost as much as faulk.

i remember a couple years ago there was that controversy of mcvay talking to goff on the headset right up until communication got cut off.

too much was being made of it at the time, but i do wonder if mcvay still does that. or is goff pretty much on his own now. does it even matter?

I know, I know — the NFL instructed stadiums to make their piped-in crowd noise as realistic as possible. Still, what a hilariously brutal scene to have the home stadium piping in booing as the Rams went up 21-3 in the second quarter. I suppose that’s what Eagles fans would be doing.

so… during the rams cowboys game were they piping in cowboys fans’ cheers?

    ….

    ok i’m done.

i know they’re longshots, but i’d like to see williams and hoecht at some point as well.

It might be a trite term but that was a total team win in my eyes. Great to get a comfortable road win. The offense seems to have a wide range of options. On defense I would like to see more of the pressures turn into sacks. I hope Sloman can get it together, he looks shaky. The new uniforms and helmets still aren’t to growing on me. Winning in Buffalo will be tough. Consecutive long road trips have to be exhausting.

the offense. well. these guys have played together for some time now. it was wonderful to see.

the defense needs reps. also i hope lewis comes back in week 4 and can provide a little extra oomph in the pass rush.

the run game the last two games is better than i have seen over any two games last year. This was after having a good run game against Dallas. Eagles defense after the game said they knew what was coming but just couldn’t stop it. Now thats a run game.

for all the talk about mcvay’s offensive genius he’s at his best when he’s pounding the rock.

they’re second in rushing attempts right now.

also goff is currently second in ypa. love watching this offense.

That was a 7-point fumble by Kupp – a punt he should’ve let go in the first place.

this guy wants the rams to fail…

    𝕋𝕠𝕞 – 𝕃𝔸 ℝ𝕒𝕞𝕤@TL_LARams
But no other QB gets the credit taken away from him like Goff does on a regular basis.

i do think the media underestimated the rams this year specifically because of how they rate goff. i hope he proves them wrong.

Love this – as Jared Goff was on his 13/13 streak, players were joking with him on the sideline like “oh we can’t talk to you!” as when a pitcher is throwing a perfect game.

well. apparently they were talking to him. and they did jinx him…

goff looked real good today. i hope he takes the next step this season. he’s been good. but i hope he gets better.

running game is going to be good this year.

the offense in general looks strong. i think it could be even better than the 2018 offense if that’s possible. sure gurley is gone. but mcvay should be better. goff should be better. the receiving game should be better. and the 3 running backs look good so far.

the defense needs more reps. but they have stepped it up in the second half when it matters. hopefully, that holds true from the first half of the season to the second half of the season. again. hopefully, lewis comes back healthy and can improve the pass rush.

    and lastly. kiser. tackling machine!
