They were exactly what i think of
when i think of a 10=6 Wildcard team.

but if donald, kupp, and goff are healthy i can’t help but wonder how far this team could have gotten.

Joseph-Day has impressed me. I think they hit on that late pick. I know he hates his new nickname, but it kinda fits. Seabass has game. I like Brockers, too.

It shouldn’t be that tough to transition, really. But they’re still going to need to bring in some youngins, cuz Brockers will turn 31 in season, and Donald will be 30. Got some yute if they keep Williams, who fits the hogmolly mode, kinda. Don’t really know what they have in Gaines yet.

You can never have too much talent at D-line.

That’s what initially drew me to the Rams in the first place, back in the 1960s. The Fearsome Foursome. I want them to get that all back, updated for 2021!

they need a defensive end. i think they have some pieces at linebacker. but they need some more talent there. one question. will it be easier or harder on the linebackers we do have? being in a 4-3. i’m guessing it’s easier. man i wish they could get micah parsons. haha!

the secondary should be fine. i think burgess was starting to come on until the injury. the cornerbacks were out of this world. fuller should get better.

onto a new season. i’m done with last season. really interested to see what morris does with this defense. more than anything i’d like to see him stick around for at least 3 seasons.

McVay strikes me as the kind of person that if you jettison him, he comes back stronger with his next team a few years down the road.

Or the organization can be patient with him while he matures.

Goffs contract is going to look a lot better in a couple/three years when the cap goes up.

i agree with all of that. i just don’t like this pitting goff and mcvay against each other.

i have faith they’ll sort this out. until i see more that is.

Or IF he should be frustrated. Maybe he should just be a hard-working, head-down, steady coach.

and he usually is. i’m not too worried at this point. for one comment.

and he definitely inherited a lot of talent. for sure. but he did not inherit a good team.

Being frustrated that we don’t have Mahomes or Rodgers leading our offense seems foolish to me.

i would agree with that. but we don’t know what mcvay is frustrated by. we’re all just guessing really at this point.

i think losing mcvay would be disastrous for the rams. i really do. to a certain extent i believe that about goff as well. as you said, finding a qb of his caliber is hard.

but mcvay has a chance to be special. i see nothing remotely close to martz in mcvay. i really don’t.

But sooner or later, McVay will return to his pass-heavy approach.

the rams ranked 25th in passing play percentage though. and outside of 2019, the rams have consistently been a balanced offense.

i do think there is room for improvement. there has to be. he’s only 35 years old.

all i’m saying is i don’t completely dismiss mcvay’s criticism of goff. at the same time, i don’t think he is without blame himself. they gotta sort it out. the alternative could be much more worse for both of them as well as the entire organization.

And he did all of this while lining up in the secondary at cornerback and the “star” hybrid defensive back position in former defensive coordinator Brandon Staley’s scheme.

one of the things i worry about with the change in defensive coordinator and likely scheme is how does morris deploy ramsey?

i hope he’ll be looking at film trying to incorporate some of how staley used ramsey into his defense.

i actually gotta think he will. he seems like the type of guy who is adaptable and who has an open dialogue with his players and assistant coaches.

But I think it would be a mistake to move on from Goff, unless we can get Watson.

    and that’s never gonna happen.

The defense made this a fun season for me. Special Teams was broke. imo The offense was ok, if slightly broken. Goff is ok. I am not here to kick him off the bus, but I want a better QB. I know some like him and some hate him. I am in the middle looking for an upgrade.

    defense. amazing. so much fun.

on goff. he’s average to above average. the green bay game did nothing to dissuade me from that. i listened to the podcasts and analysis of goff’s game, and i pretty much agree. he’s not going to offer the rams anything beyond what he’s already shown. he needs everything around him to be in order. but when it is. he can be real good.

mcvay is probably wondering to himself if that is something he can live with. but finding an upgrade will be hard. it would be a career defining move for sean if attempts to pull it off. but it won’t be this offseason.

also. lastly. i liked watching cam akers. i hope he can stay healthy next year. love his running style. patient but explosive. and he’s tough. i hope he sticks around for awhile.

Honestly, the Rams coach should take a long, hard look in the mirror to determine whether the person with the joystick also deserves some criticism.

i only have issue with this. mcvay does not seem like the type of person to deflect blame. i mean his history is accepting responsibility. maybe it was just lip service? maybe.

they got shit to sort out. i hope they sort it out.

i’m starting to like the hiring. but i also fear that he could be poached for a hc spot in 2022. although beside being the interim hc last year he hasn’t been offered a hc gig in awhile. so maybe he sticks around.

interested to see what he does with this defense.

i’m not sure how i feel about this. he’s got a good reputation. he’s young.

but i would have preferred promotion from within for some kind of continuity. although i’m not sure how much continuity there could have been considering staley was only here for a year.

but overall i gotta say i’m leaning positive on this. i just don’t know how positive. i just know that whenever his name is mentioned it’s usually associated with positive things.

“The people I’ve spoken to said basically at this moment the relationship with Goff and McVay: not great. They need marriage counseling is what one person said to me. I think this is something that they’re going to be able to work through, but there’s got to be some healing and that’s not just with Jared Goff’s injured thumb.”

they can work through this. i don’t sense anything irreparable. and i don’t think blaming one or the other is productive.

neither guy seems like the type where ego will get in the way. so i remain positive. at least for now.

my suspicion? mcvay wants to go conservative. goff wants to air it out a little bit. that’s just a suspicion. no evidence to prove it. hopefully, in the offseason they can iron it out and get this offense back in order.

gotta get that oline better though.

It was a #1 defense, a great defense but not elite.

that’s what’s so disappointing though. only one year in the system. how good could they have been with two… three years in the system.

coulda created something special. maybe not.

hopefully someone from within gets promoted, and we can see what more this defense can do.

I don’t think Goff really was healthy enough to play against the Seahawks except in an emergency. He threw a lot of wobbly wounded ducks.

a healthy goff behind a stronger oline would be good.

and i don’t think a complete overhaul is even necessary. plus they have some developmental prospects. i really like anchrum. i wonder if he could take over as center.

I just don’t think that a divorce from Goff is possible. I read he stands to make $67 million over the next two years.

I would build the line a little bit.

Get healthy. There are still many pieces in place. Akers and Jefferson are bright spots.

yeah. me personally. i would concentrate on making that oline right.

i have no idea what the rams organization has in mind. if i had to choose, i’d say that’s what their plan is.

we’ll just have to see. relationships will always have their ups and downs. i’m sure goff and mcvay are both disappointed.

    we’ll just have to see.

they need to take a hard look at this offensive line. it’s not good enough.

defense played bad yesterday. but donald was hurt. for most of the season they’ve played well.

but goff and the running backs need a strong offensive line to be consistent.

    The extra picks sounds good.

    yes.

although the rams also lose a good talent evaluator so hopefully it doesn’t hurt the rams too much in terms of making those picks count. in particular, i hope the rams don’t lose the magic touch when picking defensive backs.

so the packers left tackle is out? their all-pro left tackle?

if donald can come back healthy. if the rams can run the hell out of the ball. akers and mal better be getting ready for smash mouth football. if the rams don’t turn the ball over. they got a chance.

    goff is one tough dude.

also. media going wild saying goff was benched. i don’t buy it. guy had thumb surgery. mcvay didn’t want to risk it unless he absolutely had to. and it was obvious goff wasn’t at full strength.

    gutsy performance from the quarterback.

i remember thinking 20 years ago that the legacy of that offense would be in large part established by who made the hall of fame.

faulk, warner, pace, bruce, and now hopefully holt. this would be the finishing touch on a historic offense.
