July 23, 2014 at 12:34 am in reply to: Bradford, Bradford, Bradford, Bradford (audio + article) #2257InvaderRamModeratorit’s so easy for guys to question the rams’ confidence in bradford. what’s harder is to give an actual answer to what a better solution would be?
and i haven’t heard too many critics give a good answer to that.
this running game i think is going to be better than it’s been. maybe since the rams moved here. i said running game. not running back. but as a whole. i think it has the potential to be the best since the rams moved to st. louis. given the offensive line and the type of linemen they’ve brought in and the group of running backs they have. that’s going to help sam a lot.
InvaderRamModeratoryeah the secondary is the biggest question for me on defense. i’d try to pick out one player as being critical, but i think they all need to step up. jenkins, johnson, mcdonald, and joyner are the four most important i think. but i figure williams should be the right coach to bring this secondary together.
InvaderRamModeratoryeah the nfc west is gonna be brutal. it’s odd saying that, but it’s been that way for awhile now.
InvaderRamModeratorthat’s gonna be hard. i think robinson has a slight advantage because he’ll be playing left guard. even though it’ll be a position change, i think he’ll have less responsibilities than if he was at left tackle. the running game also has the makings of something special.
watkins, on the other hand, is playing a position with a big learning curve. on a team that will be expecting him to make plays.
i’d have to give the advantage to robinson although i’d also be cutting a lot of slack for watkins given the circumstances.
InvaderRamModeratori don’t fault him for saying that.
shoot if he didn’t want to deal with it, it’s better that sam go to another team. and not anybody would be able to handle it. just being a head coach is tough enough.
InvaderRamModeratorin some ways bradford is the perfect qb for fisher.
i’m not even sure fisher would know what to do with a great qb. if the rams are to go to the playoffs under fisher it will be lead by the defense and the running game.
so let’s hope that is in order. and bradford should be good enough to help this team win.
InvaderRamModeratori think another big question is the secondary and can williams bring that group together. and if so how long will it take?
InvaderRamModeratoryeah. long and laurinaitis for sure. i think joyner will eventually be one. for sure. how could he not?
on offense? no clue. i don’t think bradford will ever be a leader. i think he’ll be an effective qb. but not a leader.
zac stacy? i could see it. not sure yet. but i could see it. i could see greg robinson becoming a leader. not a vocal leader. but he just comes across as a guy of such high character and work ethic and ability that i think he could eventually be a leader.
InvaderRamModeratorwell i think eli looked soft at the beginning of his career. his own teammate barber criticized him early on.
hopefully bradford answers his critics this year.
InvaderRamModeratorwell what i think happens is that a bunch of young talented players start to figure it out at about the same time. stacy, austin, bailey, robinson, donald, brockers, ogletree, mcdonald, jenkins, and johnson are all young guys who could have very memorable seasons this year.
they haven’t done anything yet. but it could all happen at the same time. that’s pretty awesome when you think about it. kind of like what happened to the niners before.
hopefully this is the year.
InvaderRamModeratori’m excited. almost a week away. i’m largely uninformed about the rest of the nfl so take this statement for what it’s worth. i don’t believe there’s another set of lines with as much potential as the lines on this team. just dominant physical specimens on both sides.
unfortunately they don’t ever touch the ball or score touchdowns.
but i also don’t think many teams can claim to have a better set of running backs than the rams.
InvaderRamModeratori can’t wait to see this defense. especially the defensive line. the only thing keeping this defensive line from being special is dominant defensive tackle play. so far it’s been solid. but i think this season brockers steps up. and then aaron donald should be the final piece. i can’t wait.
InvaderRamModeratormy biggest question is can bradford stay healthy for an entire season? if he can, i think the rams give the niners and seahawks some major problems.
InvaderRamModeratori don’t necessarily see it as a running back by committee. i see it as two backs who are perfectly capable of carrying a running game on their own. and that should make the rams running game very dangerous. dare i say they have the potential to be the best running back duo in the nfl?
InvaderRamModeratorBradford was completing around 60 percent of his passes and the only quarterback to throw fewer interceptions than Bradford was Peyton Manning. But those were bloated numbers that came during the last quarter or few minutes of the game. Since being drafted by St. Louis in 2010, the verdict is still out on Bradford, which is a pretty generous ruling.
is this actually true?
looking at his splits from espn.com
his qb rating when they won by 0-7 points was 93.1.
his qb rating when they won by 8-14 points was 105.3.
his qb rating when they won by more than 15 points actually went down to 85.9.his qb rating in the 4th quarter +/- 7 points was 136.0.
unless i’m reading this wrong he performed well during close games when they needed him to…
InvaderRamModeratoryeah. i don’t think throwing the ball has ever been a problem for bradford.
InvaderRamModeratori think jimitroutboy was a big fan of gaines. secondary could use all the help it can get. i like a lot of what the rams have done there drafting guys like gaines and joyner. tough guys who just constantly battle.
InvaderRamModeratori think the running backs step up. i actually think the running game has the potential to be dominant. as a whole. i think austin and bailey make signficant progress. not superstars like rfl says. but solid significant contributors. kendricks and harkey will be doing a lot of dirty work.
InvaderRamModeratormy pick is zac stacy. i think with this revamped oline he could put up some sick numbers.
InvaderRamModeratorSo I personally don’t predict Bradford will break out…I think he will continue to be good. Maybe the national perception of him will change as a result, but I just think he was already pretty good and will stay good.
i agree with this.
InvaderRamModeratormy pick is michael brockers. he came to the nfl with very limited experience at his position. as it is, he’s made some progress. but this is his third year in the pros. right about the time that defensive tackles come into their own. he’s physically maturing and now the mental aspect is coming around. he is surrounded by great talent. and he’s got a defensive coordinator and dline coach who are going to get the best out of him. it’s all going to come together for him this year.
next year it’ll be greg robinson.

July 8, 2014 at 8:51 pm in reply to: Rams attend workout for defensive lineman entering supplemental draft #1229InvaderRamModeratorwell. definitely curious to see how he performs as i’m sure a lot of teams are.
but 40+ reps and a 4.5 40 at 360 pounds???
InvaderRamModeratori agree with wv. the offensive and defensive lines will be the bread and butter for this team. much like the secondary is for seattle. i think that alone is enough to get them to 8 wins.
how much of an impact can gregg williams make? especially on the secondary.
how much of an improvement can the wide receivers make?
can bradford stay healthy the whole season?
answers to those three questions will determine how much better than 0.500 the rams can get.
July 8, 2014 at 8:38 pm in reply to: Rams attend workout for defensive lineman entering supplemental draft #1224InvaderRamModeratorwell that sounds like a load of bs. not buying it.
InvaderRamModeratori just want to add that the interior of this oline is the best i’ve ever witnessed on a rams team. personally witnessed. i’m sure other “wiser” fans on this board will remember other ones. hehe!
and this is without robinson having played a down of professional football yet. but i am that convinced. this running game is gonna be powerful.
InvaderRamModeratori can see bailey forming that relationship with bradford. like bradford did with clayton and amendola and lloyd before him. bailey’s gonna be the glue that brings this passing game together. i can just see it. as soon as he serves his suspension that is…
sigh.
July 7, 2014 at 10:10 pm in reply to: How St. Louis Rams Quietly Built NFL's Most Dangerous Defensive Line #1085InvaderRamModeratorit’s true that they hit the lottery with quinn. i hope the same happens with brockers and donald. then we could really have something special here. rams could use some luck right about now.
