most likely smoke i would think. what linebackers would be worth taking early anyway?
February 22, 2015 at 12:15 pm in reply to: Grayson, Hundley, Petty, Carden etc. … the qbs this year #18867InvaderRamModeratorbrett hundley blew this combine out of the water. i really really really want him on the rams.
by the way. not that it matters but hundley ran a sub 4.00 ss. wow.
also did well in the throwing drills.
InvaderRamModeratorhey. has anybody checked out kevin white’s measurables???
6’3″ 215 lbs 32 5/8″ arms 9 1/4″ hands 4.35 40 4.14 20 ss 36.5″ vertical 10’3″ broad.
holy moly! that’s explosion. ok if i had to nitpick, i’d like the arms to be a little longer and the hands to be a little bigger.
but rams are gonna have some options at the 10 spot.
amari cooper is also impressive. but he’ll be gone by the time the rams pick.
InvaderRamModeratorto top it off here’s a student film made by chris conley. star wars retribution.
InvaderRamModeratorthere’s this kid chris conley from georgia. 4.35 40 45″ vert and a 11’7″ broad. 33 3/4″ arms and 9 7/8″ hands.

February 21, 2015 at 10:51 am in reply to: Grayson, Hundley, Petty, Carden etc. … the qbs this year #18820InvaderRamModeratorfor what it’s worth.
carden measured in at 6’2″ 218 33 1/4 9 3/4. not bad at all. the quarterbacks are throwing right now.
InvaderRamModeratorwell again. i would say flowers’ time is very impressive given his size. right below greg robinson. joe thomas ran a 1.75 and he was over 15 pounds lighter than flowers.
InvaderRamModeratorhey! happy birthday!
InvaderRamModeratorhttp://walterfootball.com/combine2015workoutOL.php
After leading all of the offensive linemen in the bench press, Miami’s Ereck Flowers had a good workout in the field drills. Flowers (6-6, 329) had an unofficial 40 time of 5.29 and a 10-yard split of 1.78. That is a fast time considering Flowers is heavier than most of the top offensive linemen. In the field work, Flowers slid well while showing real power and shock in his hands in the pads drills. He did well in the mirror drill, but needs a little work to stay compact and not get his arms wide. Flowers is only 20 years old and is full of potential.
InvaderRamModeratori like cameron erving too. maybe the one guy who can play all five ol positions. that’s big. need guys like him and saffold.
February 20, 2015 at 9:21 pm in reply to: Chargers, Raiders propose shared NFL stadium in Carson #18799InvaderRamModeratorinteresting. at this point it’s a race to see who can build a stadium first. if the chargers and raiders can get there first, i gotta believe the rams stay in st. louis. unless he decides to go rogue.
the only thing is it seems the raiders and chargers are still willing to work with their cities to work out a deal whereas kroenke seems to be going full steam ahead with his plans.
InvaderRamModeratorwow. flowers 37 reps with 34 1/2″ arms. that’s impressive. right tackle candidate. i seem to remember there was some buzz on this guy early on.

amari cooper – 6’1 211 31 1/2 10
InvaderRamModeratorscherff. i was impressed. if the rams could trade down and pick him i wouldn’t be disappointed. big hands. decent arm length.
and more importantly he can play. i think he could be a great guard. like zack martin was.
InvaderRamModeratortight ends

February 18, 2015 at 10:04 pm in reply to: Grayson, Hundley, Petty, Carden etc. … the qbs this year #18680InvaderRamModeratori for one would like the rams to take a real long hard look at hundley. he’s the only qb in this draft who seems to have real potential and who would actually be available to the rams.
he’s raw for sure. but i’ve heard good things about him from those who’ve seen him play.
February 16, 2015 at 1:02 pm in reply to: NFc West teams's sack percentage against the Rams, 2012-14 #18520InvaderRamModeratorand this is in a division not known for their high volume passing attacks.
February 13, 2015 at 6:05 pm in reply to: Cignetti/Fisher press conference vid and tweets and stuff #18434InvaderRamModeratorJT: “Another interesting thing: Rams plan to simplify offense reduce volume of playbook from Schottenheimer tenure.”
Interesting. I wonder if this is a “way of getting Tavon more involved”
w
vI listened to the press conference. They stressed that basically they wanted to get Tavon involved. They want to be sure they can execute the basics right. I think Bradford wanted Cignette. I don’t think they will trade up or reach for a QB in the draft. If a QB drops to them in the first round, who knows? I don’t think that will happen.
ok. maybe i’m wrong. still if it gets tavon more involved, i’m all for it. if he had problems digesting the playbook, then i’m a little disappointed that schotty didn’t do more to correct this.

February 13, 2015 at 6:00 pm in reply to: Cignetti/Fisher press conference vid and tweets and stuff #18433InvaderRamModeratorthese are all good things. i like that they said they will simplify the offense. i don’t think it’s just for tavon. i think it’ll benefit the whole offense.
InvaderRamModeratoris it me or was that interview useless?
just a bunch of non-answers. although i guess i shouldn’t have expected anything concrete. doesn’t matter as long as there are real results on the field.

February 10, 2015 at 6:07 pm in reply to: Dirt is turning in Inglewood; Stadium up next? … and other relocation stuff #18297InvaderRamModeratori think st. louis gets an mls team in the near future. especially if they have that stadium project going. and i’m almost 100% sure that they end up with an nfl team. i think the nfl does want a team in st. louis. it’s a great sports town. i don’t think they want one in jacksonville. and that’s why i think that the jaguars end up going to st. louis.
InvaderRamModeratorhe makes plays in special teams and in the running game, but the main reason the rams got him was as a receiver.
and he’s been thoroughly unimpressive there. i still hold out hope that he can get better. brian quick made huge leap in his third year. i’m hoping tavon can do the same. part of it is just him improving as a receiver, but i’m also hoping that cignetti can figure out some other ways to get him the ball as a receiver.
and as others have pointed out, hopefully better quarterback play and an improved offensive line can also help him.
hopefully all three come together next year and tavon can have a breakout season.
InvaderRamModeratori only watch the rams. didn’t even watch the superbowl this year. if the rams disappeared from the nfl i might stop watching football or watch whatever local team came to town. i don’t think it’d be the same though.
InvaderRamModeratoralso. in no way does the nfl want a team in los angeles with davis running things. if that trade happened, rams would be staying in st. louis and kroenke would be moving the raiders to los angeles. i’m not sure why he would want to do that unless the nfl made it a condition for moving a team to los angeles. i guess it’s possible.
InvaderRamModeratora trade with the raiders is the only way i see that happening.
just a guess but having a team with los angeles ties would be ideal for the nfl. that would be the rams, raiders, and chargers.
wow that would suck.
i’m not sure the davis family would want to give up the raider name though. not sure if kroenke would do it unless it somehow involved getting the denver broncos.
i just see it as being very unlikely.
InvaderRamModeratorGeneral agreement on the thread. I think the OL personnel and the QB issue will determine what we can do.
My point about Tavon.
As I have said before, Tavon needs to play underneath a downfield passing attack that drives the DBs off the ball.
The absence of that condition has not, in my mind, been primarily a matter of the OC. It has been the absence of WRs until last year, at which point we lost our QB.
A healthy, starting-quality QB plus a solid OL will ALLOW an OC to use Tavon successfully. I don’t think it has previously been a genuine option.
‘Course, I do think Schotty used too many jet-style gimmicks with Tavon. But, again, at least some of that was because he had a lousy QB and OL.
yes. oline and qb. i don’t care who is the coordinator. if they can’t sort those two situations out, the offense is in trouble.
InvaderRamModeratorMy thing with Tavon is, if he is used in new or different ways, it will be because he has advanced in his technique and knowledge and can DO more things.
It’s an unwinnable debate, as a debate–if Tavon is given more to do, I believe it will be because in his 3rd year he can do more things. But then, it would be hard to prove that…we don’t see practices and meetings, so we don’t know what they think he can and cannot do at this point.
it is an unwinnable debate. if tavon does improve and do more things next year, is it because cignetti is offensive coordinator or simply because he just has another year of pro football under his belt?
regardless. i expect cignetti to introduce the offense to some new things. perhaps his experience as an offensive coordinator in college will bring some other concepts we weren’t used to seeing before? i just don’t know that much about him. i know he has traditionally been a run first type coordinator, but i don’t know much about the offenses he ran before.
February 8, 2015 at 11:32 am in reply to: Dirt is turning in Inglewood; Stadium up next? … and other relocation stuff #18165InvaderRamModeratorit’ll be interesting to see what happens to the city of inglewood.
the whole area is changing there. not just inglewood but leimert park and baldwin hills to the north.
InvaderRamModeratornot just the playbook though but knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each player as well. every coordinator is gonna bring his own ideas in. the added advantage he’s got is that he’s worked with these players whereas a new coordinator from the outside won’t exactly have the knowledge that cig has.
i wonder how much input he had when schotty was oc or if he’s got some fresh ideas that he can implement. in particular i wonder if he’s got any other ideas about how to use tavon. i also wonder what kind of qb he likes and if that’s different from what schotty preferred.
InvaderRamModeratorwho knows. cignetti could surprise us. and i still like the fact that the coordinator and players will have real familiarity with each other. that can’t be discounted working with these guys every day. knowing their strengths and weaknesses. and maybe he even brings a fresh perspective that schotty was missing.
who knows. but i’m actually happy about this announcement.
