ParticipantI believe arm length and functional strength (as well as smarts and nimble feet) are more important than height and weight, particularly at center.
The rams are taking risk at their oline imo, more than any other position group. I’m sure they have a plan to promote from within, draft and pickup folks late in free agency.
Hram
ParticipantOnly 1 million for quarterback of the Bortles caliber is an absolute steal Imo.
Hram
ParticipantI think Mathews played both inside and outside last year.
Hram
ParticipantIf Mathews and Weddle have anything left, this could be a fun defense.
I think the Rams got to be out of money after this one.
Need probably one more cheap dline and one more cheap backup oline. I think. That’s about it. Plus draft some backups/groom for future years guys in the draft.
Hram
ParticipantGiven the probable price tag, I’d say it would be a great deal. I believe he would be a significant upgrade from Mannion and when he departs in a year (likely imo), Rams could earn a comp pick.
Hram
ParticipantMight actually be the opposite. Plus they could flip roles to disguise coverages.
Hram
ParticipantHe would be a pretty large gap filler on fourth and one!
Hram
ParticipantI figured they would keep him regardless but for sure if Whit had retired.
Very resilient fellow. Glad he got to go to the Super Bowl with us.
They had to a figured that Fowler had more positional value. Plus, they obviously know what they have on their practice squad. Plus I think they draft to offense of lineman one early ( first three rounds ) and one late
Hram
Participant$14 million, I consider that a bit high, but it is just one year.
I’m looking at Michael Brockers to be traded or cut. Me thinks the reason Brockers has not been cut, is the Rams may have some trades to evaluate. Just a thought.
Could happen, but we only have 5 defensive linemen. I am probably more for keeping Brockers than most.
I agree with you as he can play nose.
Hram
ParticipantRams are a FA destination!
Good move on their part
Hram
ParticipantThe next one we are waiting on is Michael Brockers to be cut.
I think they will keep Brockers. He can play nose or DE.
Hram
ParticipantSign fowler if the price is competitive .
Let Suh walk and sign brockers and put them in those tackle.
Sign Fowler or some other edge rusher .
Keep peters this year and let him walk after.
Extend talib with the intent he moves to safety when it becomes appropriate.
Sign shields with the believe that his second and third your back will be even better than this first. Probably sign hill as the third or fourth quarter back depending on price.

ParticipantI think it takes all three main WRs to make the offense hum. With all three, who are somewhat but not completely interchangeable, they can do enough to maximize the gifts and diminish the shortcomings of each.
Johnson, in this offense with the current players, is a decent #4 and okay(ish) #3. Better than I feared he might be at the beginning of the year, but if he was going to be “good”, I think we would have seen more by now. Paired with a true #1 WR or in a different offense he might be better.
Cooks, woods and Kupp are a great threesome imo, they just all three need to stay healthy. If one goes down they need two TEs who can play and then go heavy to maximize their chance to win.

ParticipantNope
Hram
ParticipantWe should have run more.
We should have run Gurley more.
A few toss sweeps or a couple more jet sweeps might have helped.
Kupp, if healthy, changes this game.
Defense played phenomenal.
Cooks missed catches were tough catches. Would have been good if he’d been able to come down with one of them.
Oline was enh.
Goff played like the youngest QB to ever play in the super bowl. Still could see the talent.
I’m glad they played in this game. I hope they get the chance to play it again next year or in the next couple.

Participantofficiating wasn’t better in the past…….. it was less scrutinized and reviewed with technology that is outdated…….. today’s video HD technology and camera angles gives us views we never had in the past… it doesn’t mean that officiating is worse today than it was in the past… it’s most like better….
BTW, the Saints were not flagged for a penalty until there was 5:39 remaining in the 3rd qtr…. New Orleans ended up being penalized only 3 times in a game that had more than 4 qtrs of football…..
The perception among most fans has always been that the refs aren’t very good. I never agreed with that assessment but I would like to see replay applied to penalties. The important thing is getting the call right, no matter how that happens.
I’m not sure about that. I think the flow of the game is moreimportant than getting more calls right.
I personally believe human error is part of the game and that’s okay.
January 21, 2019 at 12:13 pm in reply to: Refs also missed several calls that really hurt Rams #97027Hram
ParticipantIt would be very poetic for a Rams ~10 year dynasty to begin with defeating NE in Brady’s last super bowl.

ParticipantI hope he plays like a maniac in 2 weeks!
Hram
ParticipantThanks for asking for such a great present!
Hram
ParticipantReynolds impressed me too.
yes. absolutely. and everett also made at least one big catch that i can remember.
Anyway for me the biggest thing was Goff with Gurley struggling early and a lot of drops that should’ve be catches he brought his team back and won it on the road in on of the most difficult places to do that.
yeah. this is a milestone game for goff.
now one game left to see exactly how we look back at this game by goff. but still a game where he grew up a little bit.
Agree 100% that this was a growth game for Goff. He didn’t get rattled, played well with a limited running game and had clutch drives at the end of the half, end of the game and in overtime.
Well played tough game by both teams.
So happy the Rams won!!!

ParticipantYes, there were some missed calls earlier in the game, but I don’t think there were many blatant missed calls.
The pass interference by NRC was blatant.
Doesn’t take away from the win at all imo. Great game by both teams. Don’t think anyone got hurt which is huge.
Hram
ParticipantI think he wants to be a featured back so I am going to guess some team will give him that and he’s not going to come back,
Hram
ParticipantI have some hope that Talib will keep him in check.
I will be very surprised if they bring Peters back next year unless suddenly a switch turns on for him and he stops making stupid coverage decisions.
Hram
ParticipantWe need to cause one more turnover than they do.
And, limit the amount of cute calls in the red zone.
Hram
ParticipantI think, particularly with the run game working, they were intentionally working ball control and time of possession.
It seemed to me that the bad plays (dropped passes/bad throws, etc) and bad calls ended up pretty even by the end of the game.
Hram
ParticipantI loved the two headed rushing monster.
The rams didn’t get as much pressure on the QB as I expected them to get. I expect some of that was scheme to contain Dak, and the cowboys running game, but I still thought they pass rush better.
Hram
ParticipantHappy Rams are going to the super bowl year.
Hram
ParticipantI’d say brown or Anderson. Should be able to get one of them at a decent price.
I’d add shields to your list figuring he will be even better his second year back.
Anybody else would only be if the price is right.
Hram
ParticipantThey got a portion of their mojo back. Online played well.
More jet sweeps was good to see. So was the downhill running. New RB was unbelievable. Just about a perfect game with the exception of the one blitz pickup early.
Mixing in two tight ends was great to see.
Hram
ParticipantI think the team has lacked a sense of urgency the past few games and their issues (oline, etc) have more to do with being in the right emotive state mentally than anywhere else.
Essentially, they need to get their mojo back.
