Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantThe role of newly added receiver Robert Woods, a steady possession guy, figures to be unchanged, but it will be interesting to see how Austin, a talented speedsters who has underachieved, will be impacted by the arrival of Reynolds.
With receivers such as Pharoh Cooper, Nelson Spruce, Bradley Marquez and Mike Thomas also in the fold, there figures to be plenty of training-camp competition
Woods is faster than Britt or Quick he ran a perfectly respectable 4.51 and is most certainly a capable , credible deep threat. Austin needs to learn how to catch and how to defeat press coverage at the line before his speed is much of a threat deep.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI give it an A. I didn’t know they even had picks this year but we’ve go three WRs that can catch and one burner and I like that.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI never even watched Kupp play but damn those highlights look awesome! He might not run fast but his mind is very fast. I don’t see him as an Bruce type wr with Kupp having a couple inches in height and 25 lbs. on Bruce. Bruce had a very good top gear that won’t show in 40. Kupp is topped out at 40 yds. Bruce was still accelerating at 60 yards with those gigantic gazelle like strides. What I like the best about Kupp and Reynolds along with Woods is the hands. They all have exceptional hands.

ParticipantWhen else is he going to do it ? He’s pretty much known for bad conduct in the off season. His physical abilities should have him all pro consistently,it’s the effort and general lack of character that holds him back.

ParticipantI voted for Stein, can’t stand the Clintons, the DLC, the Dems in general, etc. My own political philosophy is well to the left of even Stein’s. But, to me, there’s just no getting around the fact that the Russians decided, with the help of Wikileaks, to ONLY expose Democrats. This couldn’t help but sway the election results to some degree, because the ONLY party that was exposed was the Democratic party. If Wikileaks and the Russians had published emails from the GOP and the Trump campaign too, there’s no doubt in my mind that Americans would have learned unsavory things about them as well. At least as bad as the Dems. At least.
I know you’re a Leftist Billy_T. I’ve read your stuff for decades now and enjoy it . I was very happy you returned. I just don’t think hackers would find anything in GOP emails that would make people leave the GOP and vote for Hillary. What could they possibly say?
“Hey after your interview on Fox tonight let’s volunteer downtown at the shelter and help some poor folks” or maybe “hey lets pencil in next week to work on a bill to ban all firearms “. These are people that believe Obama is Muslim and they hate Muslims .They’re generally stupid enough to murder Sikhs because the ” believe ” that Sikhs are murderous Muslims. My theory is they(Hackers) wanted Sanders and tried to get HRC to pull out for the good of the country but that’s just not who she is.Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantThe whole Russia hacked the election is just so silly to me. Bots didn’t do and say all those
terrible things from the hacked emails. That was the Clinton machine/DNC. HRC’s campaign chair was freaking John Podesta who along with Brother Tony were Putin’s right hand money men. Palast found very little hacking at all in the General mostly low tech stuff specifically the 2000 style voter purge of Interstate Crosscheck. The Democratic primary on the other hand was hacked to bytes on a massive scale and the media pushing this Russian nonsense was complicit actually holding a secret meeting/election among themselves and proclaiming HRC the winner before CA.the largest state in the union had even voted. There is mountains of evidence that proves this but because HRC is one badass lawyer there is no legal recourse. Now I’m not opposed to removing Trump through legal means iow without deep state fuckery but I have confirmed Russian’s are laughing their heads off at this influencing elections business.March 27, 2017 at 3:50 am in reply to: Billy asked about "Iron Fist". What other shows are you watching? #66718Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantHap and Leonard is kinda quirky cool. Goliath was good hope they do another season but Billy Bob is more of a hit and run guy (Fargo). The Last kingdom was good but only 1 season.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantSully is pretty darn good the Vikes line fell apart without him he was missed. A year off and a year of light duty he could be a significant upgrade and it won’t take long to find out.

ParticipantIt’s kinda sad, the first regular season NFL game I went to was The Steelers at the Bolts opener in 1975. The Steelers blew ’em out thirty something to nothing. Most of my time was concentrated on the Charger Girls cheerleaders. I feel bad for San Diego I always liked that town. Oh well if you can afford tickets to the new stadium in L.A. I doubt the 2hr drive/15min flight is a deal breaker.

ParticipantIt seems to me that this staff knows what the want to do, are changing the culture their plans differ greatly from the previous staff. It just seems like a developmental year. They’ve made huge changes but can’t really start building until they have a full draft. I expect them to develop the identity this year and flesh it out in 2018 through the draft. They need people everywhere since they’ve lost so many and have no 1st round pick. They seem to have confidence in the young LBs coming up. I would say center is the biggest need. I don’t think they’re expect to win right away just get Goff settled Gurley grounded an G -Rob broke down and built up right ( Imo that’s the plan moving him to the Right side)

March 14, 2017 at 12:33 pm in reply to: "route running & why what Robert Woods does is so important" #66268Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantHe’s still young — Woods turns 25 in April — but there isn’t much evidence that he is developing as a pass-catcher.
I find this a bit comical. He isn’t developing as a pass-catcher because he was even in his rookie season the most polished WR the Rams have had since drafting Holt. His QBs have been EJ Manuel, Thad Lewis, Jeff Tuel, Kyle Orton, Matt Cassel (For one play when Tyrod Taylor lined up at WR) and of course Tyrod Taylor. That’s a pretty extensive list of evidence right there that the WR’s development wasn’t a core issue.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantThe other thing those numbers point to for me anyway is McVay’s ability to get more out of
Garcon’s skill set increasing every year he was OC.Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI agree with your definition zn and I do think he can be a good one as well. I wonder how many guys could have been #1WRs with a really good QB throwing it to them.Woods can run any route in the game , he can beat press coverage he can get open, he will fight for the ball and wins darn near all of them. He can read defenses , find the soft spot in zones . He has great hands and body control plus he is a great blocker and he is just 24 (25 in April).
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI’ve always been a fan since his USC days. I think he’s going to make Rams fans very happy. A lot of people say they overpaid but I think he was a steal. If he was on a better team with a better QB his production would have been much better.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantHe did restructure and take 3 pay cuts while with the Rams but he’s old.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantTransition year for the team, they are highly unlikely to be competitive this coming season, so why spend $16 million on an above average corner for just one season? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Especially if we can bring in a #1wr with that money. Oh well I guess it’s already a done deal they’re going to tag him. Snow we’re going to have to work on your handle , I’ve seen more snow in my fridge than outside!
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantHopefully they can get the O going well enough to not need a D that can hold teams to 10 points. I’d rather see them sign him to a nice contract than tag him again. Also he wasn’t near as good without Jenks last year. If the Browns crazy outbid us it’s probably a good idea to let him go, the Browns aren’t known for wise personnel decisions.
February 27, 2017 at 8:19 am in reply to: the offensive coaching staff … & updated: on the new offense #65639Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI’m optimistic , I got exactly what I was hoping for in the coaching change. I can’t guarantee it works and sure there will be growing pains but I don’t see how anyone could not be at least a little bit optimistic . What’s the worst that could happen due to the new staff? Even if they play like crap it’ll be different crap not repetition which personally drives me nuts. We can watch what Phillips one of the best DCs in the game does with the hybrid 3-4 scheme that should be interesting. On offense if they stand pat on players at least it will answer some questions about the Fisher offense and if they go aggressive in FA and bring in some real talent, well that will be fun to watch as well.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantForrest was playing well till he got hurt , a rookie no less.

ParticipantI know a couple of people in mn that claim the have seen Bigfoot. I’ve spent a lot of time in the woods bow hunting and seen a lot of deer, bear, badger, mink ,skunk even a cougar but no Sasquatch yet.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantHappy Birthday ZN ! 22mins. late here , but you get the idea.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI agree ZN, I am impressed by the quality of this coaching staff. Seems to me the people that put this plan together and executed it really did their homework. Just listening to the interviews they all seem to fit together. Time will tell but maybe removing Fisher when they did gave them a jump on forming the new staff.
February 11, 2017 at 5:57 am in reply to: Jason Cole: Rams receivers did not respect Jared Goff #65195Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantGoff didn’t consistently hit them in the hands and that was a part of the problem IMO.
How do you know they ran the wrong routes? Watching TV I can’t even tell if they ran a poor route.
Agreed , from what I remember he did early in his first games and it almost looked like they were shocked. It was a huge change in velocity. I remember wrs not knowing where to line up, not knowing where the sticks were running into each other , seemed obvious to me. Goff was erratic but he did take a beating game after game. Some of it was his fault but some of it was horrible OL play and drop after drop including Britt in a couple games. I was a big Quick supporter but after the 3 games where he got sudden he was awful constant drops until garbage time. Austin simply has shitty hands. He’s made some good grabs but he’s also bungled way more than a 40million dollar wr/gadget man should. Spruce looked like a winner but he never even got on the field. To me it’s obvious we need players on the outside. Seemed to me like Gurley had the best hands on the team.
February 9, 2017 at 11:27 am in reply to: Jason Cole: Rams receivers did not respect Jared Goff #65103Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantWith the exception of Britt they were all pretty horrible anyway and for someone with Britt’s physical gifts a thousand yard season shouldn’t be a big deal at all. The real question is why hasn’t he done 4 or 5 times by now. Even in ’16 he was constantly injured . His snap count would be an interesting stat. Goff hit all those guys right in the numbers/hands and they dropped them ran poor routes or wrong ones altogether . Shitcan them all. Keep Britt if it don’t break the bank but if it does there are better wrs to overspend on. Alshon Jeffery and Doug Baldwin would be huge up grades.

ParticipantLady GaGa rocked. Brady’s in tears Belichick is flustered
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI see lots of commercials endless pregame shows and Lady GaGa making some new
fans. I’d like the Falcons to win but if they do it with offense we would now have a
guy that can out coach Belichick in the division.Hmmmm Belichick shuts out the Falcons
37-0 and give us the blue print to beat the niners. After the game both Belichick and
Brady retire and the McVay begins his decades long dynasty.January 29, 2017 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Gurley missed most of offseason program to take part in off-field activities #64511Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantSo if the unnamed source coach is wrong about the offense and Bleacher Report has been a
flimsy source in the past , how much credence should be given to this article at all?January 29, 2017 at 11:13 am in reply to: Gurley missed most of offseason program to take part in off-field activities #64494Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantWasn’t that one of the unnamed source’s points, that the offense was the same ?
According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, the coaching staff said, “It’s the same [offense] he was in as a rookie. You tell me the difference.”
