March 27, 2017 at 3:50 am in reply to: Billy asked about "Iron Fist". What other shows are you watching? #66718Eternal RamnationParticipant
Hap and Leonard is kinda quirky cool. Goliath was good hope they do another season but Billy Bob is more of a hit and run guy (Fargo). The Last kingdom was good but only 1 season.
Eternal RamnationParticipantSully is pretty darn good the Vikes line fell apart without him he was missed. A year off and a year of light duty he could be a significant upgrade and it won’t take long to find out.
March 26, 2017 at 8:24 am in reply to: does anyone care one way or another about the Chargers going to LA? #66687Eternal RamnationParticipantIt’s kinda sad, the first regular season NFL game I went to was The Steelers at the Bolts opener in 1975. The Steelers blew ’em out thirty something to nothing. Most of my time was concentrated on the Charger Girls cheerleaders. I feel bad for San Diego I always liked that town. Oh well if you can afford tickets to the new stadium in L.A. I doubt the 2hr drive/15min flight is a deal breaker.
Eternal RamnationParticipantIt seems to me that this staff knows what the want to do, are changing the culture their plans differ greatly from the previous staff. It just seems like a developmental year. They’ve made huge changes but can’t really start building until they have a full draft. I expect them to develop the identity this year and flesh it out in 2018 through the draft. They need people everywhere since they’ve lost so many and have no 1st round pick. They seem to have confidence in the young LBs coming up. I would say center is the biggest need. I don’t think they’re expect to win right away just get Goff settled Gurley grounded an G -Rob broke down and built up right ( Imo that’s the plan moving him to the Right side)
March 14, 2017 at 12:43 pm in reply to: "route running & why what Robert Woods does is so important" #66269Eternal RamnationParticipantIR I’m not sure how I ended up quoting you as the quote is from the Bill Streicher write up in TSRF’s post.
March 14, 2017 at 12:33 pm in reply to: "route running & why what Robert Woods does is so important" #66268Eternal RamnationParticipantHe’s still young — Woods turns 25 in April — but there isn’t much evidence that he is developing as a pass-catcher.
I find this a bit comical. He isn’t developing as a pass-catcher because he was even in his rookie season the most polished WR the Rams have had since drafting Holt. His QBs have been EJ Manuel, Thad Lewis, Jeff Tuel, Kyle Orton, Matt Cassel (For one play when Tyrod Taylor lined up at WR) and of course Tyrod Taylor. That’s a pretty extensive list of evidence right there that the WR’s development wasn’t a core issue.
Eternal RamnationParticipantThe other thing those numbers point to for me anyway is McVay’s ability to get more out of
Garcon’s skill set increasing every year he was OC.Eternal RamnationParticipantI agree with your definition zn and I do think he can be a good one as well. I wonder how many guys could have been #1WRs with a really good QB throwing it to them.Woods can run any route in the game , he can beat press coverage he can get open, he will fight for the ball and wins darn near all of them. He can read defenses , find the soft spot in zones . He has great hands and body control plus he is a great blocker and he is just 24 (25 in April).
Eternal RamnationParticipantI’ve always been a fan since his USC days. I think he’s going to make Rams fans very happy. A lot of people say they overpaid but I think he was a steal. If he was on a better team with a better QB his production would have been much better.
Eternal RamnationParticipantHe did restructure and take 3 pay cuts while with the Rams but he’s old.
Eternal RamnationParticipantTransition year for the team, they are highly unlikely to be competitive this coming season, so why spend $16 million on an above average corner for just one season? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Especially if we can bring in a #1wr with that money. Oh well I guess it’s already a done deal they’re going to tag him. Snow we’re going to have to work on your handle , I’ve seen more snow in my fridge than outside!
Eternal RamnationParticipantHopefully they can get the O going well enough to not need a D that can hold teams to 10 points. I’d rather see them sign him to a nice contract than tag him again. Also he wasn’t near as good without Jenks last year. If the Browns crazy outbid us it’s probably a good idea to let him go, the Browns aren’t known for wise personnel decisions.
February 27, 2017 at 8:19 am in reply to: the offensive coaching staff … & updated: on the new offense #65639Eternal RamnationParticipantI’m optimistic , I got exactly what I was hoping for in the coaching change. I can’t guarantee it works and sure there will be growing pains but I don’t see how anyone could not be at least a little bit optimistic . What’s the worst that could happen due to the new staff? Even if they play like crap it’ll be different crap not repetition which personally drives me nuts. We can watch what Phillips one of the best DCs in the game does with the hybrid 3-4 scheme that should be interesting. On offense if they stand pat on players at least it will answer some questions about the Fisher offense and if they go aggressive in FA and bring in some real talent, well that will be fun to watch as well.
Eternal RamnationParticipantForrest was playing well till he got hurt , a rookie no less.
Eternal RamnationParticipantI know a couple of people in mn that claim the have seen Bigfoot. I’ve spent a lot of time in the woods bow hunting and seen a lot of deer, bear, badger, mink ,skunk even a cougar but no Sasquatch yet.
Eternal RamnationParticipantHappy Birthday ZN ! 22mins. late here , but you get the idea.
Eternal RamnationParticipantI agree ZN, I am impressed by the quality of this coaching staff. Seems to me the people that put this plan together and executed it really did their homework. Just listening to the interviews they all seem to fit together. Time will tell but maybe removing Fisher when they did gave them a jump on forming the new staff.
February 11, 2017 at 5:57 am in reply to: Jason Cole: Rams receivers did not respect Jared Goff #65195Eternal RamnationParticipantGoff didn’t consistently hit them in the hands and that was a part of the problem IMO.
How do you know they ran the wrong routes? Watching TV I can’t even tell if they ran a poor route.
Agreed , from what I remember he did early in his first games and it almost looked like they were shocked. It was a huge change in velocity. I remember wrs not knowing where to line up, not knowing where the sticks were running into each other , seemed obvious to me. Goff was erratic but he did take a beating game after game. Some of it was his fault but some of it was horrible OL play and drop after drop including Britt in a couple games. I was a big Quick supporter but after the 3 games where he got sudden he was awful constant drops until garbage time. Austin simply has shitty hands. He’s made some good grabs but he’s also bungled way more than a 40million dollar wr/gadget man should. Spruce looked like a winner but he never even got on the field. To me it’s obvious we need players on the outside. Seemed to me like Gurley had the best hands on the team.
February 9, 2017 at 11:27 am in reply to: Jason Cole: Rams receivers did not respect Jared Goff #65103Eternal RamnationParticipantWith the exception of Britt they were all pretty horrible anyway and for someone with Britt’s physical gifts a thousand yard season shouldn’t be a big deal at all. The real question is why hasn’t he done 4 or 5 times by now. Even in ’16 he was constantly injured . His snap count would be an interesting stat. Goff hit all those guys right in the numbers/hands and they dropped them ran poor routes or wrong ones altogether . Shitcan them all. Keep Britt if it don’t break the bank but if it does there are better wrs to overspend on. Alshon Jeffery and Doug Baldwin would be huge up grades.
February 7, 2017 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Rams go after Mark LaFleur for OC…and then, hire him #65023Eternal RamnationParticipantIt’s a done deal, Matt LaFleur is the Ram’s OC.
Eternal RamnationParticipantLady GaGa rocked. Brady’s in tears Belichick is flustered
Eternal RamnationParticipantI see lots of commercials endless pregame shows and Lady GaGa making some new
fans. I’d like the Falcons to win but if they do it with offense we would now have a
guy that can out coach Belichick in the division.Hmmmm Belichick shuts out the Falcons
37-0 and give us the blue print to beat the niners. After the game both Belichick and
Brady retire and the McVay begins his decades long dynasty.January 29, 2017 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Gurley missed most of offseason program to take part in off-field activities #64511Eternal RamnationParticipantSo if the unnamed source coach is wrong about the offense and Bleacher Report has been a
flimsy source in the past , how much credence should be given to this article at all?January 29, 2017 at 11:13 am in reply to: Gurley missed most of offseason program to take part in off-field activities #64494Eternal RamnationParticipantWasn’t that one of the unnamed source’s points, that the offense was the same ?
According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, the coaching staff said, “It’s the same [offense] he was in as a rookie. You tell me the difference.”
January 29, 2017 at 2:34 am in reply to: Gurley missed most of offseason program to take part in off-field activities #64481Eternal RamnationParticipantI dunno, what could they do about it? Except tell him to get in better shape.
Bench him and start Bennie for one if was as blatant as this un-named source claims it it. I guess that’s the problem with having the youngest team year after year. Too many players needing development an so few actually receiving it.
January 28, 2017 at 5:58 pm in reply to: Gurley missed most of offseason program to take part in off-field activities #64471Eternal RamnationParticipantI agree ZN a combination of many things . Gurley doesn’t get a pass but if coaching knew about it and did nothing they share responsibility. In 2015 the big games he had came in the second half from what I remember so that indicates to me conditioning was a factor unless we were losing by 20 points and running the ball wasn’t an option.
January 28, 2017 at 1:39 pm in reply to: Gurley missed most of offseason program to take part in off-field activities #64468Eternal RamnationParticipantWhile I can believe Gurley contributed they did start to stop him in 2015 and that same offense was shit. If you go back and watch the early games in 2016 it’s striking how bad the OL was Gurley’s first contact averaged 3rds deep behind the LOS . Also CK would often option out of runs right when it seemed like Gurley was getting going. Imo when you have defenders penetrating often unblocked 3yds. deep in the backfield the back is irrelevant . What good is vision if all you see are unblocked defenders in your backfield ? Also lining up 10yds. deep like ED. isn’t going to work if your not sending 3 OL to the probowl.
Eternal RamnationParticipantI expect a dramatic improvement from the offense, just having competent coaching on that side of the ball will have a huge impact through game planing and the ability to adjust to defenses
and opponents not knowing our own playbook better than GRob. The defense will depend on if Quinn can rebound to a higher level or if the decline continues. I’m thinking 8-8 but I do believe there is a losing culture that must be cut out which can always bring complications.Eternal RamnationParticipantAny way you go–they would have hired an Irishman.
McVay and McDaniels are both of Scottish origin and Shanahan means Irish baby boy. I’m not worried about his age, sure he’ll have growing pains but his body of work is impressive. And I’m prepared for any ensuing board war with Claymore and a light axe.
Eternal RamnationParticipantI like the hire. Young brilliant offensive mind who has done it without a Manning or Brady. Steady quality and experience at DC.
