I just know that if they have to rely on a rookie QB in games like tonight, you can expect some big mistakes that can snowball big time. We don’t even know if Hundley or Winston will be any good in the NFL after getting years of experience.

I’m just saying, those guys are better options than Shaun Hill and Austin Davis going into nextyear.

An how do you think a rookie quarterback would fair against that defense last night? It would be the seconding coming of Austin Davis all night long.Snead and Fisher said what their plans are so the point is moot.

Not a smart move by Arians. Fisher and Co. will not forget. Such a depressing game after all the optimism leading up to it.

I can assure you the Rams won’t show any mercy.Ask Oakland.

I thought the O-line for the Cardinals did enough to open some holes for their RB and did a good job picking up the blitz.

I thought the opposite of the Rams’ O-line. Hill didn’t have a lot of time to set up and find open receivers, and I don’t know if there were a lot of open receivers. Arizona’s blueprint of hitting the QB all game and winning in the 4th quarter worked again. That bad pass to Bailey that could have gotten the Rams into Cardinals’ territory was a result of a game of pressure and hits … when he had a chance to finally burn Arizona, he threw the ball quickly and was inaccurate enough that Bailey couldn’t pull in the pass.

The defense was fine. I’ll take 12 points every time, especially when they were put in some very tough situations by the offense and had to be on the field so much.

you nailed it. Rams didn’t run block well….and the Cards did…

this allowed the Cards to run a balanced offensive attack.

the back breaker was not scoring the TD when they had 1st and goal in the 4th….

Next year, with Bradford and Quick, with this existing D, the Rams will be a force to be reckoned with.

    5. Rams 13 – Niners 10 in November 2 2014. I enjoyed watching that egotistical Kaepernick throwing a tantrum on the sidelines because he fumbled. He knew he didn’t have a handle of the ball at the beginning of the play and lost it again.

    4. Rams 19 – Seattle 13 from September 2012.

    3. Rams 38 – Colts 8 in 2013. Love watching the Great Andrew Luck get embarassed at home.

    2. Rams 31 – Redskins 28 in 2012.The knock hit by Janoris Jenkins.

    1. Rams 17 – Cards 3 in 2012. Loved the 9 sacks.

Me? I would trade a 2nd round pick to guarantee he ends up on a different team, not the Rams.

Would Snisher draft Winston if available either by trade or with their pick outright?

I have a feeling that Winston is the second coming of Jamarcus Russell.Besides Winston is toxic.

PS. WV, remember when we could be proud of the team? Sure, they lost Conference title games. And they couldn’t match up with the Whiners in their glory. But they always played tough football.

No one thought SOSAR. We were the Rams. We knew how to defend and run the ball. Even when we lost, we did it with pride.

Damn. What would it feel like to think that people actually RESPECTED us? Can’t remember.

    I feel the same way.

Lots of good points but lacking any points about the uncertain conditions in the offensive line which effects the quarterback directly.

I try to be as objective as I can in my first post in this thread.

BUt this is a complicated issue and I have mixed feelings.

Personally, I don’t like the idea of this season becoming the “see if Davis can play project.”

I am very “win now.” They have the future in which to figure out the future. Or to put that more narrowly, they have the off-season to figure out the next season.

If it were me and he falters again, I would just start Hill. I wouldn;t even hesitate.

From what I saw of Hill in this offense, he can play, and his strengths as a qb are pretty much the opposite of Davis’s weaknesses.

It is fair and realistic, I think, to ask if AD can rebound.

But. My “win now” attitude also has me wary of that. So he doesn’t have too long to prove he can, in my book.

I feel the same way.If it takes Hill starting then we should.9 years of not going to the playoff will do that to you.

It’s one thing to keep Bradford to see if he can still play, but Jake is a different story. If as I expect both Jake and Wells go, then they can sign Barksdale. If Jones can play they won’t need a center. That would make it:

    Robinson OG Jones Saffold Barksdale

    Wouldn’t be bad at all.

They would need 3 more players — a Left OG, a “depth” guard who can maybe also play center or ROT, and a tackle project for depth behind LOT. They may already have one of those guys on the roster, just in embryonic form. v

The left OG can come from anywhere: a high pick, a free agent, a promising ronin (young vet who hasn’t landed his team yet). Chances are, they acquire a couple of different players at the same time, in a couple of different ways.

If Jones isn’t a player, then, center becomes the priority. You can always get by with dregs at LOG but obviously center is crucial.

Whoever qbs this team will land on one of the best Rams offenses in years.

I kind figured the same thing.

    Calvin.

I disagree. I don’t think the rest of the season should be about evaluating Davis.
Fisher should start the QB that gives the Rams the best shot to win. He would be doing his team and the fans a huge disservice if he used the rest of the season as an audition for anyone, including Davis.

i can understand why people would want that, but if i’m fisher, i want to be sure of what i have in davis before i go into the offseason.

he’s the only viable option on the roster for a long-term solution at qb. it’s not going to be hill or bradford.

    I respectfully disagree.

Not a fair assessment of Bradford as this is the first year the Rams offense have been 85% stocked.Watch what happens next year. You will see that Bradford is clearly the superior quarterback.

Bradford is indeed a far superior QB.

Trouble is, he cannot be trusted to be healthy. No way the team can see him as the starter for next year. We MUST at least get another viable starter, more than a back up, a guy who can actually challenge defenses. And the price for that could be cutting Sam.

I love Sam. But his stay in StL is more than likely over.

People forget that in 2010 and 2012 when he had reasonably good protection he was injury free.I can assure you fisher sees the same thing so I wouldn’t be to quick to say that he is gone.

I think your critique of Davis is pure bullshit.

This is his first year as a starter and he made a couple bad plays today on the two interceptions but neither one of them cost us big.

As many bad games as Bradford has had, I allow Davis a few as well. He’s still been far better than anything we’ve seen from Pussy Bradford since 2010.

    Grits

Couple thing to note ZN.You were right on two counts.
1.The team needed time to learn the defense.
2.Davis has a weak arm and is still learning.

IMO his arm strength is fine ,it’s just that he has a habit of jump passing everything instead of setting his feet.I am not surprised after the beating he regularly takes these days. The KC game was ridiculous in that regard. We’ve seen the gunshy behavior with Warner,Bulger and Bradford too. Just way too many hits on him and it appears the damage is done.

Yeah and people want us to draft a quarterback before fixing the problem
