Current cap space – roughly 24.3m
Cap space after including draft picks – 20.5m
Cap space after including Littleton at the 2nd round tender – 17.885m
Cap space after cutting Brockers (10.25) Barron (6.33) Sullivan (5.25) – 39.715mMarch 1, 2019 at 4:33 pm #98416AgamemnonParticipantMarch 1, 2019 at 5:33 pm #98417znModeratorThen you can add ~1.0 million for when the cap goes from 51 to 53.
1.0+ million for the Practice Squad.
3-5 million for IR during the season.
I should say subtract. So IF they let Brockers and Barron go along with Sullivan, that’s really 32 M.

33 – 34 million.
March 11, 2019 at 10:04 am #98765AgamemnonParticipantDraft Costs for Rams 7 picks: $5,534,505 – (7 x $495,000) = $2,069,000
Right now we only count 51 players against the Salary Cap. Later we will count 53. that will and another 2 x $495,000(rookie min. wage) = $990,000
Practice Squad of 10 players for games equals, 2019 Practice Squad Weekly Pay: $8,000.00 ($136,000 if on all 17 weeks) x 10 = $1,360,000.
.
$2,069,000 – draft pool
$990,000 – 51-53
$1,360,000 – practice squad
$5,000,000 – Injured Reserve, plus or minus a million.

$9,419,000 yearly expensesMarch 11, 2019 at 10:41 am #98768AgamemnonParticipantWhen I add everything up in my head, I see the Rams having about $5M in usable Cap Space. Of course, they can and will change this by various means, so it is not a hard fast number. Not all the costs kick in right away. If they want to do something, they can make it happen. Just write a low cost for this year’s Cap into the contract.
The Rams have almost $100 million in Cap Space for 2020.

March 11, 2019 at 7:42 pm #98807AgamemnonParticipantCan they afford CJ now?
Sure, np. Saffold, too. They could do Saffold for whatever it takes, but what is reasonable? $8M? $10M? Right now Arizona looks like the biggest competition and they don’t have that much money. The Rams have almost $100M in cap space next year, about anything is possible. Maybe not wise, but possible.
.
They can do Saffold and a few low/minimum range FAs without cutting or extending anybody. The would just have to move a bit of Saffold’s money into the future.- This reply was modified 5 years, 10 months ago by Agamemnon.
March 12, 2019 at 12:21 pm #98861AgamemnonParticipantFowler: Cap hit = $12,000,000
Weddle: Cap hit = $5,751,525
.
Spotrac Cap = $16,708,193
OvertheCap = $17,892,895 = [$29,892,895 – Fowler’s number ($12M)]Both sites have this mistake >>
So we don’t have an exact figure. It could be +$2.6M more? Maybe Vinne knows.
When the season and the draft start we will need to figure common expenses, too. That is another ~$9.4M.
.
By Wed we have to do our RFAs, that could another -$5M.
.
My estimate of $5M eventual Cap Space stands. It is easy for the Rams to find more money if they want. We can sign CJ and Saffold if we want. It would be hard to do any one year contracts any more unless they are minimum or at least low wage.March 12, 2019 at 4:14 pm #98880AgamemnonParticipantCan they afford CJ now?
I think they tendered Brown instead and they are letting Saffold walk.
March 13, 2019 at 5:05 pm #98932AgamemnonParticipant
Overthecap just now added the guys that the Rams tendered yesterday. But they have Brown listed and Sportac doesn’t. Sportac should be $2,025,00 lower? These 2 sites never agree exactly. I prefer Sportac, but use both. Last year the main difference was the carry over money. I am not sure this year.March 14, 2019 at 12:01 am #98943AgamemnonParticipantSpotrac Estimated Cap Space: $8,033,193
Over the Cap Team Cap Space: $8,767,895
.
.
The biggest difference is John Sullivan’s dead money. Spotrac books $1,000,000. OTC doesn’t.
According to Vinnie, it should really be a $1M credit which neither have?
Spotrac picked up Brown.
.
They both still have the booking errors on Higbee and Blythe. That would add ~$2.6M to the Rams’ Cap Space.
Welcome to the world of the Salary Cap where nothing comes out exactly right. 😉
.
The easiest way for the Rams to get more money is to restructure Donanld’s ~$9M dollar salary for this year.
?They could extend Peters’ contract and restructure his $9M dollar salary?
.
The Rams can still do whatever they want. They could trade for a high priced DE and make it work. They could have signed Saffold if they wanted. I don’t know how wise that would have been, but they could have found the money. And their Cap Space is probably about $12M. But I have no way of proving that. It is just my opinion.- This reply was modified 5 years, 10 months ago by Agamemnon.

This seems like the best place to get numbers on a team’s Salary Cap. Maybe Sportac is the fastest?

How Clay Matthews signing impacts Rams' salary cap
The details are finally in. There have been several conflicting reports about what the Los Angeles Rams gave Clay Matthews on his new contract, but now we have the real numbers and can start to breakdown the impact.
The Rams haven’t been the biggest spenders in free agency, but they’ve been able to make some very nice additions to the defense. First they signed Eric Weddle to start at safety opposite John Johnson III, and then they added Matthews. General manager Les Snead managed to add two starters on defense without breaking the bank for either.
According to Overthecap.com, Matthews will count for just $3.5 million against the cap in 2019. That’ll leave the Rams with $5.3 million in cap space moving forward.
That might not sound like too much, but considering how Snead has been operating, it’s more than you might think. That’s just below what Weddle’s cap charge will be for 2019, and a lot higher than Matthews’.
The Rams will have to allot some of that money to the rookies they take in next month’s draft, but they can also still clear up some space elsewhere. Last March, Snead traded away Robert Quinn and Alec Ogletree to free up a bunch of cap space, and you never know what he’s got up his sleeve.
Overall, it’s a very reasonable deal for Matthews. He can play both inside and outside, and coach Sean McVay is already raving about his versatility. Assuming Matthews plays to the level he’s capable of, he’ll be well-worth the $3.5 million cap charge in 2019. And if he doesn’t, the Rams can get out of the deal fairly easily after this season.
The Rams don’t have a ton of cap space at the moment, but it’s not too much of a concern. There’s not really any big acquisitions they still need to make, and Snead can always shuffle some things around if something pops up.

…Matthews will count for just $3.5 million against the cap in 2019. That’ll leave the Rams with $5.3 million in cap space moving forward.
NFLPA.. = $4,575,533
Looks like the Matthews article takes its figures from the over.the.cap/spotrac neck of the woods.
Assuming NFLPA is more accurate, then, the article is off by a bit.
It sounds to me like the Rams intend to extend Peters and maybe in the process they alter his 2019 numbers as part of an extension. If so that frees up a bit.

Right, and if Peters does not work out, they can always restructure Donald.

?Guess, 10 players on Injured Reserve. 10 is a very reasonable number to predict. That would add a minimum of $4.95M to the Cap.

$2,069,000 – draft pool

$9,369,000 yearly expensesRams need to find ~$6M before the season startsd, depending on the IR list. cause we only have ~$3,873,759 of Cap Space.
