With less than 24 hrs to go before the cut-down day deadline, the trade market for #Raiders star pass-rusher Khalil Mack is robust, I’m told. There are enough teams interested where the chances of Mack being traded is very real. Oakland is gauging and listening. Tune in tomorrow.September 1, 2018 at 4:05 am #90233

Add the 49ers to the group of team’s fully exploring the possibility of a Khalil Mack trade, along with NYJ, BUF, IND, GB, CLE, CHI—

I’m told Mark Davis is not excited by the idea of trading Mack. Jon Gruden is far more open to it. He believes the type of financial commitment it would take to keep Mack could instead be used on multiple players to shore up a flawed defense…That said, the Raiders are involved in active trade talks with multiple teams. The asking price is very high. We could see a trade in the next 24 hours, but I’m told that’s far from a certainty.
One thing that doesn’t help: Gruden and Mack have no relationship. Neither side feels the other has made an effort to forge one. Unreturned calls and frayed feelings.

The sense I get from some well placed conversations is that the #Raiders don’t “want” to trade Khalil Mack, but it’s slowly dawning that it may be what they consider the “best” option given all the factors.—

The Khalil Mack situation isn’t dissimilar to the Jared Allen trade that took him to Minnesota.First+ multiple other picks. Then had to give him the richest DE contact ever.
Sometimes banking on a known quantity is just worth the premium.

Asking price of 2 first-round picks isn’t scaring away Khalil Mack suitors. #Raiders are believed to be directly engaged with 4-5 teams on trade talks, per @RapSheetSeptember 1, 2018 at 8:53 am #90243

InvaderRamModeratorBears reach agreement to trade for Khalil Mack
ESPN
The Raiders and Bears have an agreement in place to trade Khalil Mack to Chicago, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The sides are still working on the trade, sources said, but after negotiating with several teams Friday night, the Raiders are now planning to send Mack to Chicago.
Mack, the No. 5 overall pick of the 2014 draft, had stayed away from the Raiders’ voluntary offseason training program and held out of the team’s mandatory three-day minicamp in June.
The Raiders exercised the fifth-year option on Mack last summer, worth $13.846 million. They could have had him play under it this season and, barring the impasse, could have used a franchise tag on him in 2019.
Returning Raiders coach Jon Gruden, hired in January, had yet to meet Mack.
Mack would join a Bears defense that includes No. 8 overall pick Roquan Smith, who had his own holdout this offseason before signing his rookie contract. Chicago ranked 10th in yards allowed and ninth in points allowed last season.
Mack made league history in 2015 by being named first-team All-Pro at both outside linebacker and defensive end. In 2016, Mack was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Last season, though, his 10.5 sacks were his fewest since his rookie year, and he was not named to the All-Pro team.
Still, he has 40.5 career sacks, and his 185.5 quarterback pressures since coming into the league in 2014 lead the NFL in that time frame, according to Pro Football Focus.
ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez contributed to this report.

AgamemnonParticipantBefore the end of the day, the #Bears are expected to negotiate a long-term deal with Khalil Mack that should eclipse the deal for Aaron Donald. Either way, Chicago just made a huge move.

The price of trading for Khalil Mack was described to me late last night as 2 first-round picks and a player. There was only one team willing to do that. That is what may be going to the #Raiders in exchange for Khalil Mack.

It’s actually 2 first-rounders plus for Mack. https://t.co/gOutZd2tOD

Getting 2 first-round picks back is a lot even for a superstar player. Among personnel people this morning, it seems like a toss-up. A rare win-win. Hard for either side to turn down. https://t.co/zlamHtxmaO
