If I was faster, had a better arm, didn’t check the ball down, took chances, had just an overall better body with more hip mobility, I’d be @AaronRodgers12 and worth a whole hell of a lot of money. #goat #beatyouincollegetho #respect 😂August 30, 2018 at 3:45 pm #90120znModerator@sitko77@sitko77
Eagles played Rams in LA with everything on the line and Donald was a no show…just saying. Donald is the new JJ Watt…everyone claims they are the best and yet they never seem to be able to contribute to actual wins or football success.Sam Monson@PFF_Sam
This narrative is horse shit, and yet weirdly pervasive. Donald had eight total pressures in that game.Fletcher Cox had 8+ total pressures just twice all season.

Gruden once asked Tom Moore why Peyton’s backups didn’t get more reps ‘Fellas, if 18 goes down we’re fucked, and we don’t practice fucked.’==

You can’t make this stuff up. Chip Kelly on how the mechanics of naming a starting quarterback will go: “I will say, ‘Hey, you’re going to play tomorrow’ and then he’ll say, ‘Yay! That’s fantastic.’ ”==

Tom Brady (yes Tom Brady) was the NFL’s highest paid player in 2011 at $18M per year when the salary cap was $120.375M. It’s now Aaron Rodgers at $33.5M with a $177.2M cap. The QB increase (86.1%) is easily outpacing the growth in the salary cap (47.2%) during this span.==

Cap will be between $200 – $230 million in those years. The Cap will have gone up about 78%, maybe more if it beats the estimates. Some people should not be allowed to do Math. 😉

KhaDarel Hodge is big game away from being WR5. Thomas and Reynolds are on the bubble. Thomas has no PS eligibility. Reynolds does.—

A major victory for Colin Kaepernick in his collusion grievance. He’s shown enough evidence to convince arbitrator there’s a genuine issue of material fact. It doesn’t mean he’ll win, but it increases odds of that & could motivate NFL to settle. More tonight on @theMMQB & @SInow.—

Great pod with @DowntownRams @JKBogenDTR . Great listen: OC & QBC turnover – how does it impact the offense. Can they gell installing the gameplans?….I’m not a fan of splitting run and pass game planning. Interested to 👀 early season games playcalling flow.—

Tonight may be the most stark night of the year in the business of football. Each NFL team is playing 20+ players who, no matter how they perform tonight, will be fired by the weekend. Cold business.August 31, 2018 at 10:48 am #90151znModeratorKevin Seifert@SeifertESPN

Since the end of last season, Kroenke has agreed to NFL contracts worth almost $330 million, agreed to pay almost $780 million to take full control of Arsenal, and he’s got that $4-billion complex in Inglewood going up.—

From ESPN Stats & Info: Since the start of the new league year on March 14, the Rams have given out an NFL-leading $237,030,518 in guaranteed money. Only one team, the Vikings, has even topped $200M.—

[Goff’s]footwork is a strength. Watch the tape, zero in. He buys a second or two under pressure because of those feet. It’s uncanny. And easy to overlook if you don’t know what to look for.Credit where it’s due on this. The #Rams had a blueprint upon returning to L.A. Obviously moving up to get Jared Goff and then pairing him with Sean McVay helped expedite things. But all the pieces are in place for a prolonged run
Short-term, the Rams have a roster adequately built to compete for a division championship and a playoff run. Long-term, there is no franchise in the NFL that is set up better for an extended run.
You’re going to hear a lot about #Rams owner Stan Kroenke, who has really stepped up this year. He’s acting every bit like a Los Angeles owner should. In guarantees alone this offseason (Cooks/Gurley/Donald/Havenstein) it’s approaching $100 million
August 31, 2018 at 9:36 pm #90202ZooeyModeratorI really am having a hard time believing that the Rams have so many young pro-bowl level players, all on the right side of age, under contract for years.
We have all lived long enough, and seen enough promising seasons end in heartbreaking losses, to know better than to assume anything…but…damn.
I cannot name a Rams team I thought was this loaded throughout the roster, and on the sidelines. McVay, Phillips, Fassel. Offense, defense, special teams.
This is a fucking assemblage of talent.
As great as the Rams were in the 70s, they did not have a top shelf QB. The 80s teams had quality players, but there was always the feeling that the defense relied a bit on smoke and mirrors to cover weaknesses. The GSOT caught lightning in a bottle, and those teams were good. But there were some dysfunctional sinews holding that together.
The Rams have never looked brighter than they do heading into this season, imo.
It may well be that in six weeks we are talking about having too many Special personalities, or the consequences of not playing starters in preseason, or a series of unfortunate events.
But I don’t recall looking around and being more satisfied with the team top to bottom as I am right now. And they are lined up for several years.

good post. and i agree.
although if they can’t replace whitworth, that’d be the only stumbling block i can see. apart from injuries. so i’ll be playing close attention to noteboom.
but damn. with snead’s scouting. they could be set up for some real success for years to come. and i think that’s key too. snead’s ability to find gems each year. and this year might be his best yet?

like you said before. i can’t help but think that we’re entering a special moment in time as rams fans….
just gotta sit back and savor this moment. just take it all in and enjoy it while it lasts.

I know.
But right now, the drafting ability of this team appears to be…excellent. May I use the word “excellent?” It’s been really good. Hence all the young stars. Also, they are making pretty impressive moves in trading for talent.
Noteboom looks really promising (early, yes), and he may be Whitworth’s replacement. But even if he isn’t, we know Saffold is at least “decent” over there, and he has said money isn’t his biggest priority anymore. Whitworth was a 2nd round pick. Noteboom is a 3rd round pick. The Rams may not get a HOF to replace Whitworth, but I am not losing sleep over his replacement right now.
Of bigger concern to me is the LB position, and Sullivan’s replacement.
But right now, I look around, and I don’t think, “Rams are screwed at ______. That HAS to be a draft priority.”
Right?
We are in a condition right now of picking depth, and future starters.
It doesn’t get better than that. I mean…if you are going to complain about needing to draft for the future, you have no hope of ever being happy as a football fan, right?
I will anticipate some games with anxiety because there are a bunch of good teams in the NFL, particularly the NFC.
But there is not going to be a game that I look at right now, and concede to the Loss column beforehand.
The Rams can beat anybody. Doesn’t mean they WILL. But nobody overmatches the Rams this year. Nobody.
Let’s go. Let’s start the Gruden II Era off right.
August 31, 2018 at 10:49 pm #90213InvaderRamModeratorOf bigger concern to me is the LB position, and Sullivan’s replacement.
micah kiser and brian allen.
this is where i’m curious to see what becomes of snead’s draft class this year. i can see in a year. kiser, allen, and noteboom all becoming serious contibutors to this team.
and not just them. but franklin-myers perhaps filling in for brockers sometime down the road.
and kelly could be a very good backup.
and i still hold out hope for ogbo.
so you could potentially have 2 guys in kiser and ogbo be contibutors to that linebacker corps. could i see ogbo kiser littleton and ebukam line up in 2019? there’s a long way to go. but i don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility. ogbo is the biggest question mark, but the other three have been very promising so far. and all are snead finds in the later rounds or in the case of littleton a udfa.
as long as mcvay and snead have a strong partnership and don’t let egos get in the way, the rams should be set up for success.
August 31, 2018 at 11:46 pm #90217ZooeyModeratorSure, if all those guys are Hits, then the Rams are in great shape for years.
But for years, we have been reading draft reviews, and camp reports, and so on.
Remember Noa, and Spikes, and Barrett Jones, and even Eldrenkamp. Christian Bryant got lots of praise, Mo Alexander. Nelson Spruce was the greatest pickup ever. You know.
I just…dunno.
If between Noteboom, Kiser, Kelly, Ogbo, and Franklin-Meyers…if TWO of those guys get a second contract, I will be extremely happy. Extremely happy.
I’m gonna bet Noteboom is the safest bet, and I wouldn’t put a dollar on any of the others. I hope I’m wrong, obviously, but….

I would include Franklin-Myers.
And Kelly.
I think it’s already at least 3.

i hear ya.
i wonder what we’ll be saying about snead 10 years from now.
but. can’t think about that now. gotta just enjoy it all right now.
