    True.

    On a (short-term) replacement?

    den-the-coach sez:

Disappointing obviously, but not a back breaker……Now it’s time to see who steps up and will start in his place and I am assuming, it will be the first two games of the year.

Austin Blythe…Was first man up last season and played very solid without many hiccups at both Center & Guard, size is the only obstacle, however, some guys love to communicate “Size does not matter.” And it always amuses me when guys say that.

Jamil Demby…Golden Opportunity for the rookie, Demby has great size and has had very good coaching, but major step from the University of Maine to the NFL, let’s hope Demby is the best thing to come out of Maine since Stephen Edwin King.

Aaron Neary Neary apparently looked good in OTA’s and mini camp, well, here is a chance to see if Neary has added more strength to handle the inside rush and being more stout at the point of attack, which he failed to provide in his first NFL start last season.

Cornelius Lucas….Lucas played really well at RT last year and if he makes the squad, playing RG should not be too difficult, add in at 6’9 with right tackle Havenstein at 6’7 and the right side would look quite imposing nonetheless.

Brian Allen could also be in the mix and last year’s favorite Jake Eldrenkamp will also get a look.

Moving Havenstein to RG and putting Lucas or Noteboom at RT is a possibility too, although just replacing Brown with another guard would cause the least amount of disruption across the line.

didn’t they experiment with hav at rg last year?

i dunno what came of that. dunno if it was more that brown couldn’t play tackle or hav couldn’t play guard or both.

but i like the idea of noteboom at tackle. if he’s ready.

the others don’t excite me as much but what do i know.

In terms of how they handle the suspension, my bet is that they practice Brown as the #1 all summer and then in the first 2 games sub in Blythe. That would seem to be the best thing for continuity overall. Unless something else happens to Brown he’s still the starter for 14 games. Blythe doesn’t have the profile of a starter but they have subbed him in before and he did fine.

Demby is interesting, but unless he’s a huge surprise this summer, he’s of course a rookie. Demby does fit the profile of a Kromer guard. Like Noteboom Demby was a college left tackle. Some folks mention Neary too, who is more experienced. Neary looks like more of a zb guard then a power guard but of course that fits.

    I don’t think anyone takes Brown’s job.

    from: https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2018/07/14/nfl-los-angeles-rams-todd-gurley-jamon-brown-suspension/

This week… Gurley shared his thoughts on Brown’s suspension with Gary Klein of the L.A. Times.

“Always want a starter out there, but hopefully that will be some motivation,” Gurley said. “A lot of guys put themselves in a bad position, but it kind of makes a player come back even hungrier to be able to prove to his team and his coaches, so he’ll be fine.”

Brown undoubtedly has the support of his other teammates, too, as he works to prove he can be even better in 2018. Despite a really solid 2017 season from the whole offensive line, Brown was the weak link at right guard, and while his job is safe, he has to continue improving.
