Ben Albright comes on air to discuss the Rams as they enter their week 8 bye as a 5-2 team. It’s been a long time since that could be said. Suddenly they’re winning the games they’re expected to win, and clawing to the finish lines in the games that can go either way. Only seven games in and the Rams have already leapfrogged their 2016 win total of four. To think they’re only a dropped Cooper Kupp pass away from being 6-1. Is it time to buy high on the 2017 Rams?
This week Joe (@3k_) and I (@MightyOrMisone) are joined by Mile High Sports 1340 & 104.7 FM Co-host Ben Allbright (@AllbrightNFL).
We start off with a quick recap of the big win in London for the Los Angeles Rams over the Arizona Cardinals. We discussed the Rams’ consistency within games as well their inconsistency from game to game and how well the defense has played since the second half of the Dallas game in Week 4.
From there, Ben drops some serious knowledge on all things Rams. Everything from who’s in charge, how the Rams are viewed around the league, favorites in the NFC, and even goes into detail about sports media in general.
But the best quote of the night? Allbright puts “the Rams” and “Super Bowl” in the same sentence…yeah. Ben says he views the Los Angeles Rams as a Super Bowl team, and to just think playoffs at this point would be aiming too low.
You know what? I agree…
As it stands now, the Rams are third in the NFC and have the highest scoring average in the NFL with a league leading four games of more than 30 points scored. Per Ben this team has all the makings of a Super Bowl team.
Who the hell saw that coming?
Next, we discuss things that need to be addressed during the bye week; such as better management of timeouts, getting QB Jared Goff off to faster starts, and fixing the turnover problems.
From there we answer quite a few listener questions and you guys delivered some good ones. From the Sammy Watkins trade and how it’s paying off (or not) to why TE Gerald Everett has suddenly disappeared.
I think Higbee and Carrier are just better at blocking. I think Higbee is doing pretty good as a blocker. Focus on him in some of the past games. I think that is why they are playing more than Everett. Higbee’s pass catching will come around. Him and Goff just need to get more in sync. imo
.
They are two different type TEs. Maybe McVay likes Higbee’s skill set better for the past few teams? Or who plays on Special Teams more?
