I think its tonight isn’t it?
I might watch a few minutes of it, but i doubt it.
The sight of mainstream-celebrity-weasels
asking questions to the millionaire-weasel and the billionaire-weasel,
is probably more than i can stomach. The only thing worse than the ‘debate’ itself, is the post-debate yapping, posturing, spinning, and weaseling by the usual celebrity-dems, celebrity-reps and celebrity-pundits.
Think i might watch an old episode of the Walking Dead
instead.w

vThat pretty much sums it up.

I’m going to record it and may skim through it later.
The bar is set so low for Trump, if he doesn’t poop on the stage and throw it at the audience, those celebrity pundits will likely say he “won.”

My wife is the most honest and fair subjective person I know. She watched both at the soldiers and sailors forum a few weeks back and her honest impression was that HRC comes off as a mean old hag too often. Trump comes off as kind of a dopey, moronic drunken uncle who’s pissed about how his life turned out. I wish Trump had a shiny gold tooth that sparkled when he smiled at the camera. I wish she had a smile.
September 26, 2016 at 2:36 pm #53908ZooeyModeratorCount me out.
Hillary is going to sell Crazy Donald and her own “experience,” and Trump is going to sell Crooked Hillary and how he will clean up every problem lickety-split, and they will each drop some coy one-liners, and that will be that.
The media is going to want fireworks, and they will spend their post-mortem blabber talking about the most heated moments of the debate, and then decide there was no knockout blow delivered, and award some hashmarks on each side of the ledger. I have a feeling it is going to be pretty boring, and the media will decide Hillary won slightly (because she is smarter and better informed, and that will come across), and the Trump supporters will see that as proof the media is biased, and make their standard complaints there, and the whole thing makes me tired thinking about it.
September 26, 2016 at 3:14 pm #53910nittany ramModeratorNah, I can’t because MNF is on tonight.
And truth be told even if it wasn’t I’d find something else to do instead. Watching those two hellspawn try to out lie each other does not make for compelling television viewing.

I have too much work to do at school, but even if I had the time, I’m not sure I could watch it. I would just wanna barf the whole time, and I would feel like complete shit after watching it. It would just upset me. The only reason to watch is the spectacle of a powerful empire smugly going down the drain.

What would be your advice?

vThey both do support planet-killing policies. Trump plans to speed up the process:
excerpt:
BISMARCK, N.D. — Donald J. Trump traveled Thursday to the heart of America’s oil and gas boom, where he called for more fossil fuel drilling and fewer environmental regulations while vowing to “cancel the Paris climate agreement,” the 2015 accord committing nearly every nation to taking action to curb climate change.
Laying out his positions on energy and the environment at an oil industry conference in North Dakota, he vowed to rescind President Obama’s signature climate change rules and revive construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would bring petroleum from Canada’s oil sands to Gulf Coast refineries.
[and . . .]
A central question confronting the next president will be how to address climate change. Mr. Trump, who has repeatedly denied the established science that climate change is caused by humans, vowed in his speech to undo many of Mr. Obama’s initiatives.
He did not explicitly address the scientific legitimacy of human-caused climate change, but said, “We’re going to deal with real environmental challenges, not the phony ones we’ve been hearing about.”
Mr. Trump said that in his first 100 days in office, he would “rescind” Environmental Protection Agency regulations established under Mr. Obama to curb planet-warming emissions from coal-fired power plants.
“Regulations that shut down hundreds of coal-fired power plants and block the construction of new ones — how stupid is that?” Mr. Trump said.

Yeah, it would just piss me off listening to their BS. And I’d be thinking about what fucking liars they are and how their policies will make the poor poorer and the rich richer while they pretend to give a shit.
And then I’ll get depressed when I think about the large segments of the American people who buy into their BS.
I don’t need that aggravation. I’ve made so many enemies arguing about this stuff this election cycle that it isn’t worth it anymore. One of them is going to get elected anyway and the country will be what it will be.
I’m just going to watch football, read about stuff I like to read about, work on my thesis and only eat food with the GMO label. 😉
Did I tell ya I’m published (or will be soon)? The journal Clinical Laboratory Science is publishing a manuscript that I wrote. It’s titled, “The Direct Oral Anticoagulants Apixaban, Rivaroxaban and Edoxaban; Mechanism of Action and Laboratory Analysis”. And yes, it is every bit as interesting as the title suggests.

Will we be able to see your essay online?
And that is a pretty cool title. I have a feeling HBO is going to bid on the rights, and soon. The Night of Direct Oral Anticoagulants has the sound of classic Film Noir.

Thanks Billy. It will be available online but you may have to be a member of the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science to see it. I may be able to copy and paste it from my account. It’s no big deal, really. It was a ton of work though. Then rewrites and editing to satisfy Reviewer 1 and Reviewer 2.

Did I tell you my son got Rubella from his vaccine?
September 26, 2016 at 7:42 pm #53938ZooeyModeratorI will watch a debate if:
1. The Head Moderator can turn off a mic when a candidate speaks out of turn. Nobody gets to rant over someone else’s answer.
2. There is a panel of 10 fact-checkers with laptops sitting to the side like a PBS fundraiser, each with a red light they can press when they call BS, or a meter of some kind that rates the statements as True, Mostly True, Somewhat True, and False. The panel will be made up of Political Science majors/graduates, and specialists in Rhetoric.
3. A candidate who refuses to answer a question, but instead jumps off to some other point, gets a timeout until he or she is strong enough to answer the question.
4. The mic gets cut off when time is up. There will be a light that goes on when the candidate has 10 seconds to wrap up an answer, and when the 10 seconds is up, the mic goes off.
5. Jon Stewart, John Oliver, and Samantha Bee are the moderators because they are the only serious journalists left in this country.

Yes it was separate from the thesis. It’s just something I did for ‘fun’. I’m getting an MS from Michigan State University in Clinical Laboratory Science. The hospital where I work is paying for half of it so it’s a pretty sweet deal. I’m all done with my coursework and am just working on my thesis now.
Are you sure your son got the measles? The vaccine is an attenuated live virus and some people have a reaction that involves a rash and some minor symptoms but I’ve never heard of anyone getting full-blown measles from the vaccine and I couldn’t find anything on it during a (brief) search of the literature.September 26, 2016 at 8:01 pm #53941sdramParticipantI’d perhaps watch if I had a button that would send a simulated dog collar type of shock-response to either of the debaters or the moderator whenever I felt like shocking the living fuck out of them.
I want them to earn my vote.

They quarantined him for 10 days, and he missed a week and a half of college right out of the chute. I don’t know anything about it, but it seemed nobody at the clinic at USC did, either. They had about 10 people on him, and finally found 1 person who had seen a case of it years ago. But I assume the test is conclusive. I dunno.
Helluva a commute to MSU. Way to rack up frequent flyer miles. (Ever set foot on the campus?).

Well it’s normal to test positive for the virus because of the vaccine. In other words, his immune system made anti-rubella antibodies to the vaccine. So he tested positive not because he has the measles (an actual infection) but because he had been vaccinated. We expect people to test positive for Rubella in our lab because that means they’ve had their MMR vaccine and almost everyone does test positive.
Yeah obviously I’m taking the courses online but I did have to go to the MSU campus during the previous two summers to do lab work. It’s a big campus. Similar to Penn State’s but not as pretty.

September 27, 2016 at 8:07 am #53971PA RamParticipantI am so disgusted with this election and politics in general that I’ve sort of checked out. I’ll see some highlights but I just don’t feel like getting my blood pressure up about it anymore. I’ll vote for Clinton on election day and the chips will fall where they may.
It’s out of my control.
This election process is a joke. The two crappy candidates we have to choose from are a joke. the media circus covering all of this is a joke. Some of the people voting in this election and their thought process is a joke.
But it’s not remotely funny.
I will vote, follow some issues and whatever will be will be.
In the meantime I’ll find distracting things like football to occupy my mind.
I’m sick of it all.

September 27, 2016 at 8:36 am #53975Billy_TParticipantI feel guilty for doing this, but I watched it. It was, as you would expect, nails on a blackboard. Trump, for the most part, was a bully and a buffoon, who came close to reverting to his puerile antics of the Republican debates. Very close. Sniffled throughout, smirked, was nearly always incoherent. He interrupted Clinton and Holt (the moderator) constantly, refused to stop when his time was up, and basically made an ass out of himself. But he did score a few direct hits. I have no doubt his followers loved every second of it and likely thought he won big.
Clinton, relatively speaking, was solid, but never inspiring. She had command of mainstream givens, knew the facts, and didn’t let Trump get to her. I think she let him off the hook a coupla times, especially when the subject turned to race. She should have mentioned that Trump hired a white supremacist as his manager (Steve Bannon), but I’m guessing her handlers told her not to go there, because of the “basket of deplorables” backlash. From my point of view, that had been a mistake only insofar as she brought voters into the mix. Had she stayed with politicians and other public figures, it would have been fine. Don’t punch down. Punch up, etc. Regardless, she should have brought up the white supremacists who either work for him or support him, while staying away from voters . . .
September 27, 2016 at 8:42 am #53976Billy_TParticipantTrump scored biggest, IMO, when he talked about Clinton and the Dems being there for thirty years with nothing to show for it. Basically, to paraphrase him — his word salad needs translators like Chaucer to modern English — endless promises and no action. Which I agree with. The Dems make all of these promises but end up compromising with the enemy — Trump’s party — over and over again, watering down legislation or caving into them entirely. The Dems haven’t produced anything worthwhile, with a couple of exceptions, since the early 1970s.
Problem for Trump is this: He has no legit answers to this parade of false promises. His economic plan is just warmed over freshwater, Chicago School, Reagan/Thatcher bullshit. Voodoo economics, as Bush Sr. once called it before he accepted the VP spot.
He’s absolutely right to point out the epic failure of the Dems. But his answers are to replay the epic failures of the Republicans, on steroids, and with the element of his own “ugly American”ism thrown in for bad measure.

The LA board of health (whatever it’s called) called my son up and confirmed what you just said. So he missed 8 of the first 15 days of school for an illness he did not have.
