Fisher Knows how to help relocate a football team
The reason why the fire Jeff Fisher requests were futile.
Because he was brought in to help with the move as well.Grits

Yeah most of us suspected that for some time. Fisher was always going to be safe through the move. Even if the move had been nixed by the NFL he was always going to coach all six years of his contract.
January 17, 2016 at 9:58 am #37506InvaderRamModeratormaybe i’m imagining things but wasn’t fisher asked questions about relocating the oilers during his interview with the rams?

“I’ve been through that experience,” Fisher said. “It’s not an easy experience, but you can do things right. And you can make mistakes if you’re not careful. Stan and I have discussed this at length, even at the time he hired me four years ago, because I’ve been through that experience. So we have a pretty good idea of how to handle it.”

Interestingly enough, though, the quote I posted is recent. Not much if anything was said about this before.
January 17, 2016 at 11:49 am #37523PA RamParticipantYeah I do think this has been in the plans for a long time. And knowing what he knew may even have played into Fisher’s decision to come to the Rams for all we know. Of course he’ll never say that but I do wonder.

Fisher has roots in LA.
We knew at the time of the interview that the conversation took place. The only thing we didn’t know for sure was what was said i.e. was Fisher willing to go through that again, or did SK promise they weren’t moving. Well, pretty obviously, Fisher knew Kroenke’s intention, and Kroenke knew Fisher was on board. So, yeah, Fisher is not only safe this year, he is safe probably up to the opening of the new stadium. At least.
Now. We need somebody with connections in the real estate business to find out if Jenkins, Johnson, McLeod et al are shopping for houses in the LA area.
Cuz I’m gonna guess that now is a real good time to pack up and resettle for everybody.
Welcome to LA. The first thing you are going to experience is Sticker Shock.

I got no idea about big-city-life.
Is LA any more expensive than St.Louis?w
vJanuary 17, 2016 at 1:11 pm #37541znModeratorIs LA any more expensive than St.Louis?
Yes. By several orders of magnitude. (Taxes are higher too.)
New England is expensive…but it pales in comparison to LA. Let alone SF, which is just astronomical.
Off topic but related. When my wife moved to Maine she sold her house in Kerrville and was proud she got a nice return on it. I asked her how much she got and she proudly told me. I laughed and said you know what we call that here? A down payment.
January 17, 2016 at 1:39 pm #37547InvaderRamModeratoryeah. i remember reading at the time that the conversation had come up but no concerns were raised at the time.
as far as cost of living. yes it’s way more expensive and it continues to get worse by the year.
January 17, 2016 at 2:15 pm #37553InvaderRamModeratorif i had to guess kroenke has been thinking about this since he took the option to buy the rams in 2010.
if i remember correctly, khan put in a bid and kroenke had the right to match or stay minority owner?
it’s at that point that kroenke weighed his options and decided the only way he was going to buy the rams outright was if he could move them to la and increase the value of the franchise. wouldn’t be surprised either if goodell and jones gave him assurances that the road to la would be plenty greased for kroenke’s rams.
January 17, 2016 at 2:40 pm #37556znModeratorif i remember correctly, khan put in a bid and kroenke had the right to match or stay minority owner?
To be specific, SK asked for around 150 M from Khan to buy out his “right of refusal.” That is, basically, SK had the right to decline any sale and therefore become the majority owner. Khan declined to buy him out of that, so SK kept the team.

Well, i’m not sure i understand humans.
Why would humans ‘want’ to live in LA ?
The smog? The traffic? The murder rate?
The earth quakes?w

Federico G LorcaWhat?
No matter where you are in LA, you are within a mile of a drive through burger place, a shopping mall, and a cineplex. And drive time is less than an hour.

well if you’re talking about murder rate, st louis has los angeles beat. probably not true of west virginia.
and if you remove hollywood and the smog and the traffic and the grime i don’t know where else you could go to get great mexican, soul food, korean, persian, ethiopian, jewish deli, peruvian, japanese, chinese food within a 20 mile radius.
extremely diverse city albeit very segregated too. but i love it.

Portland Maine (where I does reside) is a kind of restaurant mecca. (I don’t know if you;ve heard that but it’s true). We have mexican, korean, ethiopian, jewish deli, japanese, thai, and chinese within a smaller radius.
I don’t think we have persian though. Just indian. No soul food.
I will say this though. They don’t do mexican right up here. They don’t seem to quite get it, OR they turn it into artsy nouveau variants.
One of the things I miss about living in southern cal is real honest mom and pop mexican.
Oh well.

ooh. i forgot salvadoran food as well.
the mom and pop shops here go for miles. it’s great. but yeah. i also understand la is not for everyone.
January 18, 2016 at 10:06 am #37594wvParticipantDamn. You guys are making my mouth water.
We dont have many ethnic, authentic restaurants
in WV, as you might guess. We did have a new Denny’s open up last week.
I actually went there cause i really wanted
to try some corporate-food. I ordered a
“super veggie omelet” (i do eat eggs,
though i feel guilty about it).
They brought me my super-veggie-omelet
after about 55 minutes and — it had bacon
on it.Portland sounds great to me. Always has.
LA? St.Louis? — not so much. Just
too many damn humans. I do not think
its possible to have a good quality of life
with so many damn humans crammed (with their cars)
in a small area.If i were king, right after a disappeared
6.6 billion humans, i’d make a proclamation
decreeing that humans are not allowed to
create mega-hives. Nothing bigger than…oh…
i dunno…lets say 200,000. Thats plenty
big enough. Thats like two whole Coliseums
full of humans.Go rams.
