Matthew Stafford’s new contract details (per @Jason_OTC):

    • Agreed to a new 2-year, $80M contract in 2025
    • New contract has $56M in guarantees
    • This is a $26M raise from his prior contract with $17M coming in the first year
    • Multiple option bonuses worth up to $24 million in both 2025 and 2026
    • Multiple void years for salary cap purposes
    • Stafford’s cap number in 2025 decreased by $8.7 million as a result of the new contract

Me: As of right now there’s contradictory info on this: Stafford’s cap number in 2025 decreased by $8.7 million as a result of the new contract

According to OTC.com, it’s more like 2-something M less against the 2025 cap. But we shall see, we’ll get more consistent info soon enough.

so. i’m confused. if we’re to believe that post above the rams have 25 million in cap space.

but if we’re to believe otc, it’s only 19 million in cap space?

and then there’s the rookie pool. either way it looks like the rams could make a move possibly? a trade for ramsey? i don’t know how much cap space they’d need to do that though.

From what I could tell, earlier OTC.com has a bigger number (ie. for how much cap space the Rams have after the MS contract). So a buncha tweeters circulated that number. But then apparently OTC.com corrected itself, and at that point (when I posted the above stuff), the OTC.com numbers weren’t being discussed by the twitter.ville types yet.

oh wow. hahahaha. that’s gotta be the biggest gap in the league.

i wonder if a ramsey trade is possible with this amount of cap space.

To be honest? Doubtful. Unless they did it this way—low salary in 2025 with most of the contract in year one going to a signing bonus, so the hit is less this year but goes way up next year.
