    Chiefs advance, but Mahomes limps

Kansas City heads to its fifth straight AFC Championship after beating the Jaguars 27-20 yesterday, but not without major concerns for Patrick Mahomes. The MVP played almost the entire game despite an ankle injury.

    • His lack of mobility crimped Andy Reid’s playbook. This was Mahomes’ first-ever playoff game with fewer than 200 passing yards.
    • Not that he needs two healthy ankles to throw touchdowns, but spending the week answering questions isn’t ideal. Mahomes, who said he’ll “be ready” for next week, will undergo an MRI today.
    • Was playing him worth the risk? His backup, Chad Henne, looked solid during a 98-yard touchdown drive. Now looming is a tough game against either the Bills or Bengals.

Those teams meet today at 3 p.m. ET. Expect the game of the weekend.

And at 6:30, Dallas meets San Francisco. The Cowboys looked great last week, but how will they fare against the surging Brock Purdy experience? That winner will face Philly, which destroyed the Giants last night, 38-7. Let’s keep it a little closer today.

So the road to the SB for the 49ers was the poverty almost lost to the Rams seahawks and the chocking Cowboys. Now they face the near perfect eagles who played in the toughest division record wise in the NFL. Big test coming up for the Niners.

Well it’s 9ers at Eagles, Bengals at Chiefs.

    Thoughts?

My thought is the Rams beat the 9ers and Bengals last year in back to back games.

If the Bengals & 49ers win nextweek, it will be the 2nd time in history, that two teams have met each other three times in the Super Bowl, they faced each other in Super Bowl XVI in 1982, & Super Bowl XXIII in 1987. Cowboys and Steels are the only teams to meet each other three times, which were Super Bowl X in 1976, Super Bowl XIII in 1979 & Super Bowl XXX in 1995.

Bengals are much better than last season. They were (are) the best team in the AFC entering the playoffs. They own the Chiefs. Going to be tough to beat them Sunday. Can’t make mistakes because they don’t. Can’t wait for Sunday. Hope Chiefs bring their A game otherwise Bengals W

Does anyone (outside of Cincy) not have Burrow as the number 2 QB now? Feels like he’s done enough to conclusively jump Josh Allen, and that’s not reactionary off this one game. Allen has way too many of the YOLO plays, good but especially bad. Burrow is just a steady assassin.

Greg Olsen is the fantastic calling NFL games weekly. Aspire to get to where he is. Prepared. Timely. Smart. Teaches. Story tells. Don’t make it about him but about the game. Tremendous

Tony Romo, who is known for correctly calling his shot, says there’s a chance Mahomes won’t even play next week. Calls it a “huge challenge” High ankle sprains are no joke.

If you don’t believe #Bengals DC Lou Anarumo deserves to be seriously interviewed for HC jobs, then I don’t know what to tell you. He is dialing up the right calls at the right time over and over.

I don’t *think* McCarthy’s job is at risk but both Cowboys seasons ending with horrendous clock/game management….

Joe Burrow is obviously gifted but this has been a coaching mismatch too. Zac Taylor crafted a game plan of short, precise, passing routes that get first downs, protect a banged up offensive line and control the clock. Bills look lost on both sides & have made few adjustments.

    Was I alone in hoping Dallas would lose to the . . . the . . . 9ers?

I truly can’t stand the Cowpokes. This goes back decades for me. Can’t stand the 9ers, either. But for some odd reason, I don’t dislike them nearly as much as Dallas.

Aaron Rodgers, all by himself, makes me root against the Packers, and ancient wounds still feel fresh from the days when the Vikings would beat the Rams in the playoffs. But Dallas just stands alone as team I most love to hate.

Bengals were awfully impressive against the Bills.   They just beat the Bills up.   Are the Bengals the most physical team in the NFL now?

I dont like the Eagles.  I am not sure I am rooting for the Eagles against SF.

I dunno.    SF vs Cincy or KC seems like an entertaining Super Bowl.

I think I’d like to see the Bengals win it all.

“The Chiefs are hosed if Patrick Mahomes can’t make second-reaction throws outside the pocket.” Patrick Mahomes: *throws 34 touchdown passes from the pocket this season, more than any other quarterback*

I don’t know why ppl seem surprised the Chiefs are an underdog now for Sunday. Their QB has a bum ankle and the Bengals have beaten them three times in a row. This number was always going to move towards the Bengals. Question is how far does it goes.

    Oh, I do.

My consolation for this lost season is that it was lost early. Watching the agony of Minnesota and Dallas fans ends the season on a sweet note for me.

49ers next to go down. Glory be.

The 9’ers losing in the NFC championship or Super Bowl in some embarrassing fashion would be a salve for the Rams 5-12 season.

I think back to the Super Bowl when the Seahawks had 1st and goal on the one yard line with time about to expire.   I remember that popular video of the room full of giddy Seattle fans cheering and laughing, high-fiving and patting each other on the back. Dreaming of dynasties and gloating rights at work.  Planning on where to hang the commemorative Super Bowl Champion memorabilia in their ugly-ass blue and fluorescent green man-caves…

    Then…silence.

    That’s what I want for 9’er fans.
