Robinson’s point is that she isn’t really “owning” ANY of her history. She ought to be saying, “Yes, I was a Republican, and I supported these things, but God knocked me off my horse while on my way to Damascus, and now I’m a progressive.”

Instead, she is trying to say she was really progressive the whole time, and there is no way she can get away with that.

Whereas… Sanders… has always been what he is today, in spite of the enormous unpopularity of his positions over the past 4 decades.

I tend to think that the Wachowski brothers (unintentionally) made the most historically accurate movie ever in The Matrix.

What would it take to break the matrix?

For Jeff Bezos to suddenly see the light, and start a news network that did not rely on advertising to survive and could run at a huge loss indefinitely, and had a distribution system that did not rely on other corporations for broad delivery to households. That might work.

    I was anti-nuclear in my 20s.

But I’ve come to a different position in the past 15 or 20 years. Global warming is an existential threat, and the threat of nuclear accidents seems to be diminished since 3 mile island and Chernobyl. The French have used it for decades. They’ve got it figured out, one would think.

So…while I still think it’s not a good idea…I think it’s necessary as we transition to green energy sources.

Yeah, we don’t have the numbers. I mean…not at all. And don’t let Bernie Sanders’ numbers fool you. Sanders is, of course, a kind of FDR level of Democrat. Maybe he’s to the left of that, and just knows it no use talking about anything to the left of that for now, I dunno.

But when I started to think I saw signs of life on the Left because of various polls saying that young people are questioning capitalism, and supporting Sanders, and all his social proposals…I have that tempered by the fact that a lot of those people don’t know what they’re talking about.

I mean…a lot of Sanders supporters list Joe Biden as their second choice as a candidate.

    Essayons!

Avid Game Pass user here . I got the app on Amazon’s Fire TV. I love it! Really works well on my Samsung UHD 4k. I have a digital antenna and fairly fast internet but no cable and no dish. Also have Sunday Ticket’s streaming service but they won’t let you do that if you can have dish. Game Pass on the Fire tv is way better than on my pc.(Ancient pc newer tv) . You can also cast from your phone to Tv.

Is that a subscription? What’s it cost to set this up? Are the games Live, or released later?

I seem to recall having Game Pass long, long ago, and watching the games on Monday. But I don’t have to settle for that now, so I don’t do it.

I would pay to watch the games if it was a “reasonable” amount, but I’m not paying whatever it is to have a dish – $60/month or ? – and then another fee on top of that for Ticket when I don’t watch TV much apart from football.

When I don’t get the Rams over the free airwaves, I go to “Reddit NFL stream.”

I have used a number of sites over the years. The quality has been sketchy. The reddit streams are typically high quality, and don’t lag. For the most part. I use a hdmi to connect to my tv.

The stream is a couple of plays behind Live, but…you know…it’s free.

The Rams ran straight through SF until they fell behind, and had to throw.

    Just sayin’.

There are ways to keep the DL off of a QB, and the best way is to play ahead, instead of from behind.

I am more demoralized by the loss of Noteboom, the IRing of Talib, and the regression of Havenstein than I am the loss. And losing Kiser wasn’t good.

There are ten more games to go, and a lot can happen between now and December. This is a good team that hasn’t found its rhythm. Whether they will bounce back and compete or not…well…that’s why they play. Nobody knows.

I hate to break the news to you two Seahawks lovers, but Baker Mayfield is outplaying your fantasy man Wilson right now.

If some entrenched professionals got appalled at certain executive actions in one incident, that’s one thing. Condemning that because the CIA played dirty tricks in central america doesn’t strike me as all that relevant.

    Whose condemning it?

I may not be reading this closely, but I don’t think anybody is saying that the fact that the whistle blower isn’t a single, lone hero, but is instead of collection of people within the intelligence community with enough support (or power) to throw this out there with impunity means that anyone is calling these revelations illegitimate.

All anybody is saying is that this isn’t a whistle blower in the same sense that Snowden, Manning, Drake, Binning, and Kiriakou were.

Deep State to me is a term that refers to career government people, with the Intelligence and Security arms being the most powerful. It is people who work for the government, but don’t face elections, many of whom have long careers, and therefore have long, institutional memories. They think much longer term in their strategies than elected officials, who are more short-term thinkers and planners, and more focused on themselves, rather than on institutional goals.

There is a deep state. I mean…there just is.

The fact that the right wing lunatics think that the Deep State is a monolithic, anti-American, liberal, hellhole bureaucracy is about as important to me as the Flat Earth Society.

I think in most of the deep state, the actors basically do what their missions tells them to do…study and inspect agricultural issues, serve environmental needs, produce reports on diseases and auto accidents, examine educational practices and outcomes, and so on.

The CIA and NSA, and to some degree other agencies like DoD, TSA, ICE, FBI, etc., serve the long term interests of the rich and powerful – amorphous financial interests.

Nobody here is claiming that everybody in the Deep State is involved in this, or that they all agree. I would think this might be around half a dozen people. Probably fairly high up in the food chain.

I’m with wv. I think his interpretation of Taibbi is correct.

You look at all the whistleblowers…the ones who blow the whistle on what the government or corporations are doing. They go through hell.

This whistleblower was greeted instantly as a hero. And that would not happen unless the Powers – the intelligence community and the billionaires – saw the report as being a good thing. If they saw it as a bad thing, it would have been reported that way…just like every other whistleblowing event.

And…the stuff IS true. It’s not fabricated. Trump has admitted to it. It’s true. Like wv says…they usually just sit on this stuff.

The fact that people in the Deep State are complicit in this doesn’t exonerate Trump. He’s guilty. And it’s no surprise many actors in the Deep State don’t like his erratic behavior, and the damage he is doing to the stability of international relations, and economic outcomes. There IS a deep state. Just cuz Trump believes in the deep state is some delusional way doesn’t change that fact.

I think it’s an impeachable offense. I think he has committed a lot of impeachable offenses. And remember, an action does not need to be criminal to be impeachable.

I want him impeached – not for any particular thing his done – I want him impeached because of who he is. I have asked myself many times if I would support him if he was a Leftist. And the answer is No.

He is psychologically unfit for office regardless…. He is a menace to people everywhere.

Cowherd says Goff looked “like Brady in a playoff game”.

    Wow.

As Pats fans like Zooey will tell ya, that’s about the highest praise a QB can get.

    Oh, look who’s back.
