ZooeyModeratorThere are two approved Louisiana history textbooks for the state's 8th graders.
This is how one of them introduces the Civil War: as tough times for a poor young white woman whose family owned 120 slaves. pic.twitter.com/oR617iSkFO

ZooeyModeratorA cop flipped over a pregnant woman's car because she didn't pull over quick enough.
Not only is what she did not wrong, it's what you're supposed to do: turning on hazards to indicate you're complying and pulling over at the next safe place to do so…
This man is still a cop. pic.twitter.com/kvNEeEmdf6

ZooeyModeratorThread. You're going to hear a lot about how cops need more resources because "crime is surging" in the next few months. It's propaganda, and here's how you can respond:

ZooeyModeratorJeff Bezos (who's worth $190 billion) legally paid $0 in taxes for two years and got a tax *credit* one year, while his company (which is worth $1.7 trillion) legally paid $0 in taxes for two years…

ZooeyModeratorJust so y’all know, I have been on public assistance for the past month, so I sat at home doing nothing, and that’s why I have to post the past 3 weeks worth of TT all at once.

ZooeyModeratorA receiver who will surprise the hell out of me if he gets more than 10 touches a game.
I will be surprised if he gets more than 4 touches a game on average.
ZooeyModeratorMy concern is that Stafford won’t fully own the system this season. I read somewhere that there was a good QB – forget who – who took a couple years to make this transition that Stafford is now making.
Could be. But Goff picked it up in year 1. He was new to the offense in 2017 and did well that year. So McVay has been there before, bringing a new qb up to speed.
True. And that’s good to note. But I think it was something specific, not just a “new system.” It was something like going from a lifetime of shotgun to under center, and having to turn your back on the secondary in play action for the first time. That was the kind of thing. That wasn’t it, but it was a specific skill like that which is required in this system that he hasn’t had to do before, and the other QB I mentioned had to make that same specific skill adjustment. Maybe Goff didn’t have to make that particular change. I mean…it’s more than just learning a new governing strategy, and verbiage, and developing familiarity with the receivers. It was a specific QB skill. This bit I read (or heard) was in the trade aftermath, not recently. Couldn’t begin to search for it.

ZooeyModeratorHe’s potentially better than any qb we’ve seen with the Rams, maybe even including Warner (he has a stronger arm and better movement skills than Kurt). ‘
Don’t forget that Warner had the luxury of playing during the Chris Massey Era.
ZooeyModeratorMy bet btw is that Corbett will be better than that ranking (a ranking which frankly is not based on anything). I have nothing more to base my belief in Corbett on other than his character and leadership qualities. It’s a hunch on my part.
The guy I have doubts about is Evans, but then, if he doesn’t come through, it looks like there is depth behind him (Anchrum and Brewer, who also get very good buzz for good reasons).
I have the same sense about it. And apart from LOT, they are managing to fill the line with guys they get somewhere other than the first round. I’m not worried about it if they aren’t worried about it. They will draft 3 guys next year, and pick up another 2 or 3, and some of those guys will be groomed for the future.
I was going to add in an Edit to my post above – but the site crashed for the duration of the Edit window – that Corbett isn’t even necessarily the starter at Center. He looks like the guy right now, but September is not here yet, and so we will see.
I think expectations are high this year. I am very much looking forward to seeing the Rams with Stafford. Some people say he isn’t any different from Goff, and some people think he’s a big upgrade. I think he will be more effective than Goff (which is different from “better”). It’s going to be a fun year if everyone’s joints remain in working order all season.
ZooeyModeratorUm…
19th best center is middle-of-the-pack. Slightly below average.
20th best guard is a respectable ranking.
It may well be that he is a better center than that, but that isn’t a ranking to cheer about exactly.
ZooeyModeratorBoy, that Chargers game looms large. Battle for SoFi. Staley returns. So many storylines. Game of the Week, probably.
ZooeyModeratorAre we overvaluing 1st R #draft picks?
@SandoNFL
did some digging, and had this takeaway about picks 19-32 in the 1st round:“I’d rather have a veteran player than those picks.”
Yeah, as I read ranking after ranking, all saying “The Rams look good…but will the lack of 1st round picks cost them?” I just thought, if the Rams win, the conventional wisdom on this will completely change, and everyone will just talk about trading #1s for veterans is the smartest thing to do…duh.
ZooeyModeratorThis “hiding behind civilians” line is really effective. What they leave out, of course, is that Gaza is so densely populated they couldn’t set up apart from civilians even if they wanted to. What are they supposed to do? Build a military base in the middle of a city?

Looks like the walk of a man who will be Super Bowl champion this time next year.

ZooeyModeratorOne of my friends was nervous because he was afraid of heights but we talked him into it.
I feel like it was worth the drive for that memory alone.
ZooeyModerator
ZooeyModeratorI was at that game.
In 99 they lost three games, and I was at two of them.
What the hell were you doing in Detroit. Who the hell goes to Detroit.
ZooeyModeratorLooks like a cakewalk to me.
I think this season will mark the first time in my life that I will have above average interest in a game against the Lions. Actually, the only game against the Lions I even remember is the one they lost to them in 99.
ZooeyModeratorI can’t help but notice that he completely skipped over the film Off Limits. It’s not surprising. I completely outclassed him in that movie, so much so, that in his jealousy and fury, he demanded that every scene I was in get chopped to the cutting room floor.
ZooeyModeratorWell, he comes in with more cred than that other project TE from the Martz era, that guy who was a tremendous athlete, but played basketball, and the Rams thought they would teach him to play football.
This guy at least knows what football is, but “project” as a descriptor never warms my heart. I’d rather have a guy without the size and speed, but a history of production. But if he can make any plays at all, I will forget Everett ever existed by the end of the year.
