    I visited a friend in Atlanta in 1994. We went to the Rams/Falcons game and I saw Isaac Bruce’s first career TD in person. Favorite all-time Ram. One of the smoothest ever to do it, and one of the classiest too

    Congrats to Isaac Bruce, an 8-time 1,000-yard receiver and a Super Bowl champion in St. Louis. He also was drafted in 1994, with the Rams still in LA., and played 12 games that season.

    BAD LUCK OR LIFE IN THE NFL?

    seemed like goff had more than a few completed passes that were stopped at the bad guys’ 1 yard line last year so i decided to check it out and, sure enough, the guy had 8 friggin’ completed passes that were stopped a yard short of a td, none of which were converted into a 1 yard passing td, i.e. goff didn’t get credit for a pass td on the drive.

    i have no idea if this is a high number or roughly the league average, the norm, but it sure seems high to me, and was the difference between goff throwing 22 tds on the year and 30.

    panthers 7 yard line, pass completed to higbee for 6 yards.
    saints 9 yard line, pass completed to woods for 8 yards.
    rams 33 yard line, pass completed to kupp for 66 yards.
    seahawks 32 yard line, pass completed to everett for 32 yards.
    falcons 15 yard line, pass completed to woods for 14 yards.
    rams 49 yard line, pass completed to kupp for 48 yards.
    seahawks 34 yard line, pass completed to higbee for 33 yards.
    niners 10 yard liine, pass completed to higbee for 9 yards.

    As we get set to welcome in a new class of Hall of Farmers later today.. it’s worth pointing out just what we’re seeing from Patrick Mahomes. Including playoffs.. Mahomes is 4-0 this season when trailing by double digits. HOFer Kurt Warners was 2-44 in his CAREER when down by 10

    Donald has talked to Staley already and spoke with Sean McVay when the hire was made, and he’s excited about the ideas he’s going to bring to the defense.

    “I talked to him a little, not that much yet,” Donald told Rams Wire on Friday. “I talked to McVay a little bit about it. I’m excited from just talking to him to see what he’s going to bring to the defense and the things he’s going to do to free certain guys up to go out there and try to have success so we can win games. Part of this league is change and I’m just excited to see what he brings and what he can do.”

    Donald is thankful to have had the chance to play for Phillips, and he’s going to miss the legendary defensive coordinator in Los Angeles.

    “He’s a great coach. Learned a lot from him, he’s been coaching for a long time and having success,” Donald said. “Having an opportunity to play for him was great, we’re going to miss the swagger and the confidence he brought to the defense. He gave us a lot of opportunities to do a lot of different things and to be a successful defense, so definitely going to miss him.”

    Donald and Ramsey are taking Phillips’ departure in stride.

    “He was great,” Donald said. “Everybody knows he’s been doing it a long time with a lot of success and coached a lot of great players.

    “He’s a guy that helped our defense to do a lot of great things, helped us as individual players to have success, so he put us in great positions. He’s definitely a guy you’re going to miss.

    “Just a part of the business. It sucks, but just got to understand it’s a business.”

    Donald and Ramsey said McVay reached out to them when Staley was hired.

    “I know just talking to Coach, and hearing his mindset, what he’s going to bring,” Donald said. “I’m excited to see.”

    I’ve talked to a lot of Chiefs players and coaches this week about stopping San Francisco’s offense. And in every case, it was about countering Kyle Shanahan as opposed to any one player. As much as any coach at any level of football, Shanahan is his own offensive MVP.

    This is the year to need offensive line help. While the tackle class is stacked with some elite talent, the interior class is lighter at the top but goes deeper in terms of quality. While tackle-to-guard converts are popular in the NFL for interior linemen, only two such players made our top 10, as this class is chocked full of true guards and centers.

    here’s a look at how pff ranked the rams olinemen (overall, pass pro, run blocking) and the niners olinemen… the drop-off by whit, hav and blythe was staggering when compared to last season’s rankings.

    looking at the niners olinemen grades, they weren’t particularly stout in pass pro according to pff, which shanny apparently adjusted for given garoppolo ranked 3rd in shortest time to throw and 7th in shortest average depth of pass, i.e. the niners got rid of the ball quickly on pass plays… looking at the niners’ run blocking numbers, they ranked pretty well for the most part, but you have to wonder how much they benefited from having a fb on the field 35% of the time and an extra tight end on the field 35% of the time, a lot i would imagine.
