Yes….Wolford as I said last week is highly capable of winning playoff games. Smart, accurate, tough gamer that has dual threat capabilities. He just happens to be short!

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
Have received further clarity on the Cooper Kupp/Michael Brockers timeline (both went on the COVID-19/reserve list this week). Am told that, provided they are asymptomatic by Saturday’s playoff game at Seattle, they would be eligible to return and play.

This is wild: The Rams scored four defensive touchdowns this season, tied with the Colts for the most in the NFL. And get this – the Rams didn’t score a single defensive touchdown in the first 11 weeks.

Rams CB Troy Hill’s three defensive touchdowns ranks No. 1 in the NFL.

    1. Hill returned a FR for a TD in Week 12
    2. He returned an INT for a TD in Week 13
    3. He returned an INT for a TD in Week 17

I’m going to have to rewatch the game. From reading some comments from Rams fans on Twitter I get the impression that Steve Young started for the Rams. Perhaps I’m selling Wolford short. Pardon the pun.

Wolford played well, especially for a first start, but the twitter guys are just going nuts. They’re into hyperbole over this.

John Wolford made NFL history as the first quarterback E-V-E-R to throw for 200+ yards and rush for 50+ yards in his first career game

I thought that the run blocking was weak and Akers looked a step slow

Arizona held up against the run last game too. It was about the same yards per carry in each game, and that’s with JW ripping off a few 7-10 yard runs. I don’t know why–in general ARZ does not rank high on run defense. But the Rams can’t seem to get much going against them in the run game.

“No, I’m here to do a job, I have no idea where he’s at, I’m just trying to enjoy this win — John Wolford, when asked if he’ll be disappointed if he returns to backup next week.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
Wolford says he went back to the sideline after his pick and told his teammates, “I’m good. Don’t worry about me.” He said activating into runs, hearing words of advice in his head from Goff about responding after error, and actually getting hit helped him settle in.

Missing opponents added to the 2021 Rams schedule today:

Home vs Tampa Bay Bucs (2nd in NFC South)
TBD against the Baltimore Ravens (2nd in AFC North)

Like-place finisher in NFC East to be decided tonight to complete next year’s slate.

Rams were previously pretty outspoken in assurance that Jared Goff would return from thumb surgery next week. After tonight’s win, McVay says he is “not sure” about Goff’s availability and said “Well, we will talk about that” when a reporter asked him if Wolford starts next week

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Rams OLB Leonard Floyd on QB John Wolford’s run where he lowered his shoulder to get a 1st down: “That just shows his competitive nature. He willing to risk it all to get the first down.” Said it gave defense “extra confidence” to go out there and get Wolford the ball back.

    𝕋𝕠𝕞 – 𝕃𝔸 ℝ𝕒𝕞𝕤@TL_LARams
I think Wolford offered enough tonight not to rush Goff back, but that if Goff is healthy he would start

Bucs are up 20-10, so if that holds and the Rams win, LA would be the 6 seed

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
Tampa Bay closing in on a win over Atlanta and the No. 5 seed, which means the Rams (if they make it) would be No. 6 or No. 7, to face Packers, Saints or Seahawks.

Rams OLB Leonard Floyd, who was evaluated for abdominal pain at a hospital Friday and listed as “questionable” (he also tweeted that he would play today), is down on the field getting his regular pre-warmup workout in with Chris Shula.

Arizona Cardinals place wide receiver Christian Kirk on reserve/COVID-19 list

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30639254/arizona-cardinals-place-wide-receiver-christian-kirk-reserve-covid-19-list

TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Christian Kirk was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday, one day before their win-or-go-home game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Kirk was at practice Friday. He is the eighth Cardinal to be put on the reserve/COVID-19 list this season.

His addition to the list likely means Kirk won’t be able to play Sunday in Arizona’s season finale. That would be a major blow to Arizona’s depth at receiver, considering Larry Fitzgerald is listed as questionable with a groin injury. DeAndre Hopkins was limited on Thursday with a hip injury, but he practiced in full on Friday.

The Cardinals are not optimistic that Fitzgerald will be able to play against the Rams, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Kirk has 48 catches for 621 yards and a career-high six touchdowns this season.

The Rams have moved backup QB Bryce Perkins from the practice squad to the active roster as a COVID-19 replacement, the team announced.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
The Rams have elevated QB Bryce Perkins off the practice squad and onto the active roster.
Remember, McVay had indicated this week that Perkins would back up Wolford, even with Bortles back in town, and even if it meant having technically 4 QBs on the 53-man for a bit.

Rams will be lucky to sign any of their own, less expensive FAs.

I don’t see how they could go shopping for expensive additions.

“Stats don’t lie is the biggest lie,” Rams CB Jalen Ramsey said.

Ramsey was asked about Leonard Floyd being under-the-radar prior to this 9.5 sack season, but broadened his answer to address that there’s lot of production from everyone that doesn’t appear on stat sheet.

    𝕋𝕠𝕞 – 𝕃𝔸 ℝ𝕒𝕞𝕤@TL_LARams
Floyd would have been a huge miss against a running QB. His ability to set the edge is like nothing the Rams have seen in years

Rams HC Sean McVay says “the answer is absolutely yes” when asked if he would like to bring back OLB Leonard Floyd, who is currently playing on a 1-year deal.

Team’s main focus right now is on Cardinals game, but “those (conversations) are definitely things that we will visit.”

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
Sean McVay reiterates that Micah Kiser will be out Sunday – but adds that RB Cam Akers is going to get a light workout in today and will be a game-time decision.

McVay: “Leonard Floyd sets the tone every single day for that outside linebacker group.” Slyly adds that Floyd’s performance this year means he is “doing right by his family, too”. ($$$)

Sean McVay says WR Cooper Kupp and DL Michael Brockers will remain on the reserve/COVID list and will not play Sunday.

Before practice, Rams OLB Leonard Floyd complained of abdominal pain and was sent to hospital as precaution, a Rams official said. He will be listed as questionable but is expected to play.
