    from https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2023/09/14/matthew-staffords-confidence-in-tutu-atwell-is-growing-within-rams-offense/?taid=6504b7d3fee5c10001880edd&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter

One of the standout developments in Week 1 for the Los Angeles Rams was the emergence of Tutu Atwell as a legitimate threat in the passing game. Following the third-year receiver’s impressive outing in Week 1, Matthew Stafford expressed his confidence in Atwell moving forward.

“Yeah, I mean I think for any player, especially a guy like Tutu, receivers and in this offense, the better you grasp what we’re trying to do on offense as a whole, and you can play in different spots and we can move you around, you can go out there and play fast,” Stafford said. “He can go out there and let his skills show because he’s confident in what he’s doing, what we’re trying to accomplish with him on whatever route or whatever blocking scheme. He’s done an unbelievable job at really working his tail off. I would feel confident putting Tutu in any of the three receiver spots and him knowing what to do on majority, if not every single play which is an awesome thing for a younger guy and a guy that his first years wasn’t asked to do that. His ability to do that I think is going to be really good for him personally and for us as a team and that’s just because of the work that he’s put into it and trying to make sure that he understands what we’re trying to accomplish, where he needs to line up. He’s helping other guys get lined up right now. I mean, it’s really good stuff. So I’m just proud of him and the work that he’s put into it.”

Sean McVay says Stetson Bennett is going on NFI for an undisclosed reason unrelated to his shoulder. Repeatedly says he is not going to discuss the matter.

The Rams were in second-and-long and either converted, or had corresponding third-and-short situations 29 times on Sunday.

Solving the Rams’ hardest downs was where Matthew Stafford had a truly elite game, going 16/21 passing (two drops) for 238 yards

Puka Nacua has had a significant physical and mental workload since OTAs.
I asked OC Mike LaFleur today, how can a coach tell when a young WR really gets “it”?
“When they break the huddle. There’s a lot of things that are said in that huddle, for a rookie receiver, that they

have never experienced in their life … He’s just grown every single day, every single week. You can tell the comfort he has, breaking that huddle. Matthew (Stafford) is like poetry in that huddle, too. It’s easy to follow as any quarterback I’ve been around. So kudos to him

for that. (Nacua) is mature for his age, for sure. … You can see it in the look in their eyes. Every guy is gonna be a little bit different … It’s fun watching how every individual does it. Some, when the first parts of the play call come in, they’re pointing to what

direction they have to break to go to the huddle. You can almost kind of see them playing the play out with their hands, stuff like that. For Puka, he just breaks it with confidence. And then he goes.”

Nacua, Shelton, Yeast, Jones all listed as questionable on Rams injury report but sounds like all are expected to play on Sunday.
    .
S Jason Taylor heads to IR with the groin injury.
    .
Sean McVay with a small status update on WR Cooper Kupp today, after
LATimesklein question about his IR timeline: “We’re hopeful about that. I want to be careful what (to say) but the reason we put him on IR was so that you know that if it’s gonna be those 4 weeks that he’s
    .
mandated (to) miss, we can take him off the IR and be available that fifth week. That was the reason that we made that decision that we did last week, just because you don’t know what’s gonna come up. It doesn’t put a time table on rushing him back. … I want to be careful
    .
(not) to put the cart before the horse, so they say, but I’m hopeful about that.”

Puka Nacua will be listed as questionable for Sunday’s game but Sean McVay expects him to play against the 49ers. He’ll be the only one who’s questionable on the injury report.

    from link above

“He has a motor, and it’s insane,” said Rams rookie offensive lineman Steve Avila, when asked what it’s like going against Young in practice. “He’s a very, very, very quick and hybrid linebacker. He’s very, very quick. He’s come around on a couple of twists sometimes, and honestly, if you blink universal. That’s exactly how it is.”

Playing alongside defensive tackle Aaron Donald has been an added benefit to Young’s development. Young said that Donald has taught him a lot since he’s been with the Rams and willingly provided tips and advice.

“Every time I rush, he just telling me I gotta sell it better, or I gotta do this and that, different things just to improve my game,” Young said.

Rams OC Mike LaFleur on RB Kyren Williams: “Another guy that’s just super smart. … There’s hearing it, but then actually seeing it, and he’s a guy that once you tell him once, once he gets one of those reps, he’s got that stuff locked in.”
    .
More LaFleur on RB Kyren Williams: “There’s really nothing he can’t do in terms of protection, pass game, run game. So I believe he’s just getting started with where he’s at.”
    .
“There’s a lot of things that are said in that huddle for a rookie receiver that they’ve never experienced. … He’s just grown every single day, every single week, and you can tell the comfort he has breaking that huddle.”

Justin Jefferson is just 24 years old and now has more career receiving yards than any Chicago Bears receiver in the team’s history. All 100+ years of it.

No you’re thinking of Robert E. Stonewall.

The #Rams have placed rookie QB Stetson Bennett on the reserve/NFI list, taking him off the active roster

Was Bennett or Rypien the backup to Stafford?

Rypien was the back-up in Seattle.

The Rams elevated Brett Rypien from the practice squad to serve as their backup quarterback in Week One and they’ll make the arrangement more permanent this week. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Rams will sign Rypien to their 53-man roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the 49ers.40 mins ago
