In this one he talks about the Rams for the first 40 seconds.

In this one he gets to the Rams at 5:28 in. Though it’s interruped by him doing an ad.

Although they’re 5-6, Rams are a different offense with Kyren Williams and starting to get a little traction with consecutive wins.
.
Worth noting: In 17 of past 19 seasons — including the last five in a row — a team with a losing record after 11 games has reached the playoffs.
.
Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
Kyren Williams *still* has not run into a stacked box (8+ defenders) this season. He’s the only qualified running back with no runs vs. stacked boxes. A) Defenses aren’t fully respecting him yet B) McVay’s scheme is a thing of beauty
.

Kyren Williams in 7 games this year:

1st in RB Success Rate
1st in RB VOA
1st in YCO per Carry
1st in NGS RB Efficiency
2nd in YPC
2nd in PFF RB Rushing Grade
3rd in YAR
T-3rd in RB Pressures Allowed
T-3rd Pass Pro Efficiency
T-3rd in RB REC TDs
5th in PFF Overall RB Grade
5th in RB REC YAC/REC
6th in RB DVOA
T-6th in Rush TDs
7th in RB REC VOA
8th in DYAR
10th in RB REC DVOA
T-10th in 20+ YD Runs
12th in RB REC DYAR
12th in RB REC YAR
12th in RYOE
13th in BAY%
15th in BAYs
16th in 1st Downs
18th in Rush YDs
T-19th in MTFs
21st in YCO
23rd in RB REC YDs

Just imagine what the #Rams running back would have statistically if he didn’t miss 4 games…

There’s something going on with this.

Blaine Grisak@bgrisakTST
Kyren Williams deserves a lot of credit…but let’s not forget about the Rams OL. This season, Williams ranks 1st in the NFL w/4.3 yards before contact per attempt. No other RB in the NFL is higher than 3.8. 473 of 599 of Williams’ yards this season have come before contact

Yet none of the Rams other backs have those specific numbers. Leading the league in yards before contact.

I wish I had the time and training to film study this, but—Williams apparently has the instincts, smarts, and vision to be going the right way very quickly. That might be his “superpower” (that and contact balance). I mean he’s fairly quick but not ultra quick, he’s not that fast (though he has a nice initial burst), he’s not that powerful, and he’s not that elusive. It just looks like his superpower is to hit the gap with his hair on fire, making the most of every play.

ADDED BY EDIT: Watched every Wms run again. His game is manipulating LBs before he hits the hole. Very quick and sudden.

Rams rush offense this season:

With Kyren Williams (n=122):

0.156 EPA/play
50% success rate

Without Kyren Williams (n=161):

-0.166 EPA/play
40.4% success rate

Ā Remember when Kyren Williams wasn’t explosive? He ranks 18th in the NFL this season in “breakaway percentage” at 29.1%. That’s just 1.3% less than CMC. Williams also is tied for 18th in Designed Rushing Attempts of more than 15 yards.

How dominant have Dotson and Havenstein been on the right side of the OL for the Rams? Kyren Williams had eight carries for 110 yards to the right averaging 13.75 yards per carry. Take away the 56 yard run and it’s still 7.7 yards per carry.

Lost amid the performance from Kyren Williams was Royce Freeman. Finished with 77 yards which was a career-high. Back-to-back 70 yard games for the first time in his career. His 5.92 yards per carry (min. 10 att) also a career high. Little career resurgence for Freeman.

Gathering some stuff for this week’s column and found a tidbit – the Rams’ secondary was at the bottom of the NFL in weeks 1-10 with 29 PBUs. Over the last two games, they are No. 1 in PBUs with 17, and up to No. 18 overall. Jordan Fuller led team in those two games with four.

Rams are going to be one game out of a wild card spot in Week 13 with a home run of a rookie class: Puka, Avila, Byron Young and Kobie Turner

J.B. Long@JB_Long
The Rams 228 yards net rushing today in Arizona represents their highest total since putting 273 on the Dallas Cowboys in the 2018 playoffs.

A winning division record secured with two sweeps versus NFC West rivals is no small feat, especially considering the xternal bar that was set for the ā€˜23 Rams. Here’s hoping Week 18 comes with some stakes.

Rams probably not a playoff team, but also unlikely at this point that they end up with a top-10 pick. Most likely end up in the middle. Good to see growth from a young roster.

Look at Steve Avila hauling ass down the sideline with Kyren Williams on that 24-yard catch-and-run. The Steve Avila/Kyren Williams buddy movie is a fun one.

Rams gave up a TD on other team’s opening drive for second consecutive game. Last week, they adjusted quite a bit in-game.

The Rams first-half defense, after allowing 8-point, 75-yard opening drive:

– Punt (three and out)
– Punt (three and out)
– Downs (four and out)
– Punt (three and out)

(Stafford INT to the AZ 48)

– Penalty nullifies FG attempt

29 net yards allowed.

Rams installed some of the typical Higbee front-side “sift”-type blocks for rookie Davis Allen. Helped Royce Freeman pick up six yards on a carry on second down, and then Allen gets the catch for the conversion on third down.

Stafford/Nacua connection just isn’t there of late. Drive that features a 56-yard Williams run stalls after a red zone incompletion on third-and-5. Rams go up 24-8 after the field goal.

With a versatile, productive run game and effort from their defense like the one they had Sunday, Rams didn’t need to be perfect in a pass game ft. a banged-up Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua and Matthew Stafford (to their credit, have gutted through).
“Trying to give them a bunch of

things to look at,” said Stafford, “I thought our guys did a great job.” Noted AZ was playing their play-action game deep to short, so they got the screen game going really effectively and turned some of those into explosive pass plays.

I’ll add, that the Rams got multiple TEs working across the blocking surface only added more layers of disguise to their run game. Add back Williams, get balanced production from Freeman and they’ve got a depth to the playbook they have to like.

Cameron DaSilva@amdasilva
Kyren Williams has 2 touchdowns in 4 of his 7 games this season

9 total TDs on the year

Greg Beacham@gregbeacham
The Rams still haven’t lost to the Cardinals in Arizona since 2014, when they were the St. Louis Rams and Aaron Donald was a rookie and Puka Nacua was in middle school

Blaine Grisak@bgrisakTST
I do think the Rams have found their RB duo. Kyren Williams and Royce Freeman are a perfect complement for each other.

Utilize both of them like today and good things will happen with the offense.

That is by far the Rams’ most complete performance this season. First time they’ve won back-to-back games.

A sign of consistency for this young Rams team?

Rams Brothers@RamsBrothers
The Rams were perfectly balanced today. Legitimately can’t get any cleaner. 33 passes (229 yards, 6.9 yards per pass) to 33 runs (228 yards, 6.9 yards per run).

Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
Kyren Williams spent four games and five weeks on IR and decided to come back and just run gassers up and down the field.

Kyren Williams is the first Rams running back since 2015 (Todd Gurley II) to have back-to-back games with 143+ rushing yards.

Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
John Johnson getting early minutes alongside Jordan Fuller for the second consecutive week at safety. Morris and McVay noted he played his way into that role/took a little longer to get into game shape after missing the spring and summer. Today he’s starting.

J.B. Long@JB_Long
Puka Nacua’s 27 today in Arizona elevates him into a tie for the Rams franchise record for rookie receiving yards. Nacua gets there in four fewer games than Eddie Kennison, who had 924 yds in 15g in 1996.

Rams Brothers@RamsBrothers
Wow. Witherspoon was stride for stride with Greg Dortch and made an incredible play on the ball on 3rd & 5. Saves an explosive and likely points for Arizona before the half.

Cannot underestimate how huge that was. May have made the entire game more relaxing

Blaine Grisak@bgrisakTST
Kobie Turner flashes on tape every single game. Today is no different. Another sack for the rookie to give him his second of the day.

Let the young guys cook!

I do have the Rams winning today, but many are underselling the Cardinals. This isn’t the same ARI team from Week 5. Kyler Murray is back and playing well. Conner is playing…was out in Week 5. Rams started the first game slow. Lucky D held ARI to three first half FGs.

PARAM

I have no problem with them taking a QB, as long as it’s not with their first pick. There are so many “hot” prospects supposedly coming out….. Caleb, Maye, Penix, Nix, McCarthy, etc….I can’t see all of them coming off the board in the first. Maybe the Rams grab one in the 2nd. Maybe the Rams trade down so somebody can take #3 or #4, then turn around and grab #5 or #6 AND still have another 2nd round pick for a stud. So far to go before the picture is in focus.
