January 30, 2025 at 9:41 am in reply to: Rams off season decisions … update: Stafford will play #154991
znModeratorMatthew Stafford did not wait long to determine his NFL future. The #Rams quarterback, who is under contract through 2026, will play a 17th season https://t.co/0QX57DSSSJ

znModeratorOLB Jared Verse
Verse had an immediate impact on the Rams as a rookie this season, starting from Day 1 and becoming their best edge rusher throughout the year. His 89 total pressures in the regular season and playoffs were the most of any player in the NFL, consistently winning against some of the league’s best left tackles.
He improved against the run as the season went on, too. He finished with an 85.5 pass-rush grade and 81.0 run defense grade, leading all Rams players (min. 100 snaps) with an overall grade of 89.3. The next-closest player was Kobie Turner with a grade of 75.1.
Verse exceeded even the highest expectations in Year 1 as a pro.

znModeratorI may be the only non-KC fan to be pulling for the Chiefs. I did not see the games last Sunday, and Championship Sunday is usually my favorite weekend (unless the Rams are in the SB). I punched into the NFC game near the end of the 1st half, and there was pushing, shoving, and facemask pulling, followed by replays of earlier animosities, and I was suddenly filled with hatred for the Eagles. Dunno why them, particularly. I think the fact that WA has changed its name, and Snyder is gone, and Snyder is rooting against WA, and the fact that WA never really did any serious damage to the Rams, coupled with the arrogance of Eagles’ comments before they beat the Rams…
I’m for the Chiefs. I have no reason to hate them. Reid is just good. Spags is good. Mahomes is good. They don’t deflate footballs, or illegally film opponents’ practices.
And. Like I said earlier, Brady never won 3 in a row. So that’s that.
You make a good case.
Plus the Chiefs might show people how you defend Barkley.

The #Panthers plan to hire #Rams assistant DL coach AC Carter as their new OLB coach, per league sources.Carter worked with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero as a quality control coach with the #Broncos in 2022.
Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
That’s a pretty big loss for the Rams. AC Carter is often behind the scenes but has played a huge role in the development of that young DL the last two seasons. Great opportunity for Carter!Carter did pretty much everything in complement to Henny, Smith and Coniglio – from helping run meetings and install to helping design some of their top rush packages like “cheetah”, plus ran all the drills (and had a bunch of sweatshirts torn up by AD in the process lol)

They used the entire game to set up the Bills defense for this play.

This draft is so deep at RB & they come in all different flavors. The prospects will have similar grades but teams will stack them differently based on fit/need. Day 2 is going to be a RB bonanza.January 26, 2025 at 11:59 am in reply to: set up for NFC/AFC championship games & game reactions #154961

This is HUGE.
– #eagles DT Jalen Carter is destroying games.
– #commanders RG Sam Cosmi tore his ACL last week. He had missed 1 snap this season.
– Per @NextGenStats the Commanders allowed a 45.0 QB pressure rate after Cosmi left Divisional Round last week. Washington allowed just a 17.6 QB pressure rate with Cosmi on the field

znModeratorKyren Williams Draft and Combine Prospect Profile
from https://www.nfl.com/prospects/kyren-williams/32005749-4c41-5359-809b-caeaa1db84d0
Overview
Fiery team leader and combative runner who leaves it all out on the field. Williams has been a worker bee with a willingness to do the heavy lifting on all three downs and has premium third-down talent both in blitz pickup and as a route-runner out of the backfield. The Patriots’ usage of James White, Dion Lewis and Brandon Bolden might be the blueprint for how to utilize Williams in the NFL.
Strengths
Team captain.
Ready and willing to carry any workload asked.
Loose with wide, lateral slides to elude penetration.
Finds ways to wiggle out of trouble in tight quarters.
Runs with consistent pace.
Talented, well-rounded third-down option.
Experienced lining up and running routes from the slot.
Shifty to separate on option routes.
Rare understanding of protection schemes.
Scans for trouble and steps into the ring with grit and technique.Weaknesses
More quick than explosive.
Below-average burst as an outside runner.
More active than creative up to second level.
Unable to find sudden acceleration from his cuts.
Plenty tough but bounced around like a smaller back.
Lacks power to break tackles and move chains consistently.
Too many fumbles.
Average elusiveness in space after the catch.
znModerator@speed_kills@speedk1lls
When is the last time the Rams had a RB rush for 1000 two seasons in a row? And score over 30 tds in the process. Again why are some just focusing on his lack of breakaway speed when it’s clear he brings a lot super positives to the tableHe has good vision and feet. Listen to the announcers when they talk about him. We haven’t had a back as productive since Gurley 2018. He doesn’t have great speed. Ok, but he does all the other stuff really well
If KW had another gear he’d be Gurley-level elite. As it is, he’s just a really good RB. I can live with that.
@speed_kills@speedk1lls
just trying to point out is that while Kyren is not Gibbs or Barkley. He’s more of a chain mover and one of the best of them. The Rams need more explosive players yes. At RB and WR. To help this offense create and not be ball control. All of that is true.
