wvParticipantYeah, its encouraging so far. I’d be more skeptical if they had played a cake schedule but they havent.
McVay and Snead are still looking good. I guess they’ve been together since, what, 2018?
Interesting to skim Les Snead’s wiki page, and remember some of his picks. Greg Robinson? 🙂

wvParticipanti worry less about stafford, but i think donald has about two years left past this season. there’s not many defensive linemen if any who can produce at a high level past 34 years old. 2025 will be his age 34 season.
Yeah, I thought he would tail off a bit this year, but I’m not sure he has. He’s been explosive as Deacon and as rock-solid consistent as Merlin. Best Defensive player of the decade.
My wild speculation is, he plays two more years and then rides off into the sunset.

wvParticipantI kinda feel like talking about the Wild Card race after 6 games is like Christmas merchandise on the shelves before Labor Day.
I happen to like christmas. And if you dont maybe you should go live in South Korea.
w
v
wvParticipantWell, I guess having a gun in yer car is a felony in LA.
In West, by God, Virginia, its a felony to have less than three guns in yer car.
Them Californians are strange.

wvParticipanti still would plan on strengthening the oline and finding another running back if i were the rams. they don’t need to spend major capital on that second rb. whether that is evans or some lower round draft pick i don’t know. i don’t know that williams can hold up over the course of an entire season by himself. but williams in tandem with another reliable solid running back would be super fun to watch. especially with kupp, nacua, atwell, and higbee catching passes. at oline i would spend major draft capital on finding a left tackle. if they can find a left tackle and a second running back to pair with williams, i think the rams could have that dominant running game.
Well, I dunno what they will need next year, but i know they are not as good as Philly or San Francisco. So, they need to look at those two teams at least and figure out what they need to have to beat them.
Stafford and Donald are not getting any younger. I dont know how long the Rams window will be open after next year. Might be another ‘All In’ year. I dunno.
Is there another OBJ out there? Another Von Miller? Jalen Ramsey? 🙂
w
v
wvParticipantA game like that — 158 yards — makes one start thinking about running-style ‘comparisons’. I watched K. Williams and tried to think of who he reminded me of in ‘that’ game and i thought of…..Emmitt Smith ?
w
v
wvParticipantSo when is the last time the Rams ran the ball 8 times in a row? Anybody know?
I cant remember.
w
v
wvParticipantEither the Cardinals have a major run-defense problem, or the Rams are developing a physical running-game.
Interesting ‘way’ to win a Ram/Cardinal game. What if teams in the future have to worry about a Rams…running game?
Important division win.
w
v
wvParticipantWell, if the Wood-sniffers are done with their Woodfest, we can get back to Ariz vs LA.
I know we arent gonna be ultra-conscious of the record this year, seein-as-how we all know the Rams aint gonna go on a playoff run, but…this is a huge game as far as the general grade for this season. The difference between 3-3 and 2-4 at this stage is big.
Plus, this is the kind of game Jeff Fisher would lose.
…I dont know what that means, either, but it needed to be said.
w
v
wvParticipant“You got your two young guys out there, Decobie and DK, basically out there rapping, and then you got this smooth R&B guy on the other side that’s just over there listening to Motown music with my mom and dad,” Morris said. “So it’s really cool to have that kind of mixture in the room. It’s really cool how he bonds with his coach. They’ll probably be doing yoga together at some point, him and Aubrey, so it’s a really cool environment for him to be in.”
When are we gonna have a player who listens to The Internationale ?

wvParticipantI started following covertaction on twitter a long time ago. They rarely show up on my TL though. For some reason 🙂

wvParticipantWell, he was not in the Rams plans for next year. So, he was only gonna be around for the rest of this year, and basically he had dropped to the No.5 Target, after Kupp, Puka, Atwell and Higby.
Good luck to Van, but I was not a fan.
w
v
wvParticipantI dunno. Didnt look to me like the Carolina defenders were ‘caught off guard’. They look like they see exactly who has the ball – Lions just blocked the hell out of it.
w
v
wvParticipantSometimes, the football Gods look away, and the best team wins.
w
v
wvParticipantThat old-school football always makes me smile/wince.
Middle Linebackers of that era were such characters. There should be a name for era. Like the Middle Linebacker Era. Or somethin. Maybe the Middle-a-zoic Era. I dunno.
But it was mayhem.
w
v
wvParticipantWell, we have no idea if Kupp is gonna be Kupp. Or half-Kupp.
w
v
wvParticipantBut in addition to that, you combine his arm and his accuracy and you get all of these lasers to the middle of the field we’ve been seeing. I’ve never seen a Rams qb own the medium range pass to the middle of the field the way he does.
Well, I think i agree. Kurt may have some advantages over Stafford in some other areas, but I dont think even Kurt could do the ‘laser over the middle in tight windows’ at the same level Stafford does it.
w
v
wvParticipantThis is where Stafford is truly elite, in my view: CBTT. Clutch Big Time Throws. Not just BTT — but Clutch BTT. There is a difference.
Its a damned important measure of a QB, I’d say.
w
v
wvParticipantWell, I cant see the Rams defense holding up against that Eagle QB.
Can the Rams win shootout with the Eagles? Cant see it hap’nin.
Eagles 31
Rams 17.
w
v
wvParticipantNacua is so much like the rookie-Kupp. I hope he learns when and how ‘not’ to fight for more yardage. Ike could teach him a thing or two.
There are secondaries out there that are going to do to him what the Pats did to Faulk.
w
v
wvParticipantA relatively-healthy Stafford with a solid OLine is a thing of beauty.
Because I’m old, he reminds me of some of the elite old-time passers: Stabler, Namath, etc.
What a gun, what accuracy, what guts.

wvParticipant.. I just think that for all his brilliance, McV is not always nimble tactically, in the moment. He seems more of a Trust the Plan kinda guy, and less of a “well now that we’re in the moment let’s switch things up” kinda guy.
Probly true, but i also think McV is the kind of guy that emphasizes what I’ll just call ‘self-critique’. I think he can keep improving at least a little in that area because he will look at his own weaknesses and tinker with them, etc.
Maybe. I dunno. Seems that way to me. Unlike, say, Martz.
w
v
wvParticipantWell…looking at the schedule….they better win ‘this’ one. Probly only gonna be favored in, what?, three of the next 14 ? The two Cardinal games and the Giant game?
Colts, Eagles, Cards, Steelers, Cowboys, Packers, Seahawks, Cards, Browns, Ravens, Commanders, Saints, Giants, 49ers.
w
v
wvParticipantI’m fine with what i saw from the Rams. That game could have gone either way, and thats about as good as I could have hoped given the talent/youth situation.
I think Cincy is a very talented team, despite their record, and they wanted it bad.
This team does not look like a bad team, or a poorly coached team, or a non-motivated team. Looks scrappy, tough, and a bit outmanned, is all.
Record wont be that great, but what i hope for is improvement, no injury to Stafford, or Donald, and each week brings us closer to more cap room, and more talent next year.
w
v
wvParticipantTej Seth@tejfbanalyticsit must just be a coincidence that matthew stafford was the quarterback for calvin johnson’s record breaking season, the best years of golden tate’s career, the best year’s of marvin jones’ career, the only good years of kenny golladay’s career, cooper kupp’s record breaking season and now puka nacua’s breakout season—
Ha. Yeah, he does tend to share-a-brain with his favorite receiver.
Sure would be nice if this Oline stayed solid and healthy all year. Would make for a fun year.

wvParticipantWhat. The. F. are those things? I should be the NFL Uniform Czar. I’d fix all this shit in about one day. Every team goes back to 70’s-80’s Uniforms and maybe, one week of leather helmets. w v
This is the all-time worst uniform in the history of sports.

What in the world is ‘that’? Is that the Padres?
Ok, somebody actually thought of that. And designed it. And got it approved. And they marketed it. And i guess there were focus groups, and surveys and profit-algebra that preceded those decisions.
So who is that aimed at? LGBT folks? Teens? Color-blind people?
I dunno. What do i know. I’m an old-school-curmudgeon, so i should just shut up.
