wvParticipantColts vs Packers. Electric Football. Thats what my idiot parents got me.
So, of course i sent away for the Rams and the Vikings. And for the next five years the Rams massacred the Vikings. Ran circles around them.

w
v
wvParticipantMine was this one, of course. ‘Authored’ right after the 69 season.

wvParticipantYou know, Barry Redden was a 1st Round pick. I remembered him, but i did not remember ‘that’. 14th pick of the 1982 draft.
w
v
wvParticipantHow in the heck did Kupp last till the 3rd round and Nacua into the 5th round?
Purty good drafting.

wvParticipantWhat. The. F. are those things?
I should be the NFL Uniform Czar. I’d fix all this shit in about one day.
Every team goes back to 70’s-80’s Uniforms and maybe,
one week of leather helmets.
w
v
wvParticipantIrksome thing is, Kupp is probly not gonna be Kupp this year. He may come back but he wont be full-throttle.
Probly wont get to see them together and both healthy till next year.
w
v
wvParticipantIts interesting to me, that we still dont know wtf the issue is with McVay and Akers. If this were the old Zygmunt Rams we would know.
Is it a good thing we dont know? Does it mean the Rams Org doesnt trash players to the media? Or is it an indictment of the LA sports media that they dont dig for stories?
Or what?
w
v
wvParticipantI know this probly has nothing to do with the jettisoning of Akers, but if McVay really wants a ‘more physical’ running game and offense in general, then moving Akers would make some sense. He’s a good back but hardly a ‘punishing’ back.
If they can get a 5th round pick for him, I will not complain. I dont think Akers is anything special. Just a good solid back, in my view. And his ball-security trait is problematic.
w
v
wvParticipantWell, that looked like a Wildcard team out there. Potentially a playoff team, if they stay healthy and get Kupp back at some point.
Course every team is a few injuries away from being a disappointment.
Long season, but this team could be inter esting. I dunno. I think we usually refrain from sayin much around here till after game 3 or 4. We’ll see.
So far, they are at the high-end of our consensus expectation-spectrum. I think we all mostly thought they’d be in that 6 to 10 win range. They still look like that range is about right, but maybe the 10 win-range is more likely?
w
v
wvParticipantWhen’s the last time the Rams had an above-average backup QB ?
w
v
wvParticipantYall probly seen this, but here it is:
Gurner never would've expected this to go viral worldwide; this was at the Australian Financial Review Property Summit, which never garners much attention. He just accidentally got a little too honest showing off in front of his rich friends and forgot the cameras were rolling. https://t.co/byxFhBXCw3

wvParticipantNoCal radio blabber… But then he said, “The Rams are 3 or 4 years away from being competitive” and that’s where he lost me. Cuz…how does that pencil out? …
I dont think ‘any’ team is 4 or , even 3 years away from being ‘competitive’ in this here NFL.
w
v
wvParticipantBout the 11:30 mark or so, they talk rams.
wvParticipantLike everyone else, i dont see them winning, but I would be very happy if they dont get outHIT. I hope they dont get bullied by the 49ers.
There’s a reason McV wanted a more physical team this year. The 49ers are the main reason, I’d say.
w
v
wvParticipantStafford has some abilities i dont ‘think’ any other Ram QB has had. When he’s healthy he can zing bullets so incredibly accurately over the middle. I mean, they are on Fire.
(Roman Gabriel had a cannon of course, but i dunno that Gabe was quite as accurate, plus George Allen kept him on a tight leash so i guess we will never know what he could have been. )
I think about Stafford and Warner a lot. I compare them in my mind all the time.
I’m not sure which of the two i would want if i had to pick one for a big game.
Prime-Warner or Prime-Stafford? I dunno.
w
v
wvParticipantWell its a perfect test for these guys.
- Can they stop the Run?
- Can they protect Stafford?
Perfect test.
w
v
wvParticipantomg, Puka is adorable. He’s like a joyous 5 year old.
—
wvParticipantPakua.
w
v
wvParticipantWell, so much depends on how good ‘other’ teams are. I know the Rams have a ton of problems and question marks, but I dont know how many ‘other’ teams have that kind of situation.
We know the Rams arent anywhere near the Kansas Citys or Detroits etc.
But can they be a .500 team? Maybe. A bottom-feeder? Oh yeah.
I guess I will end up looking for ‘trends’ and looking at the coaching. How good is McVay? Can he get the best out of this group? Outcoach some good coaches? Keep em motivated? Can he adapt to this mess?
And I’ll be rooting for Stafford and Donald. And Kupp.
Prediction for 2023: 7-10. Which sounds bad, but in this NFL they could be in the wildcard race until the 15th game or so.
…if there IS a wild speculative hope, I’d say its in the Oline. A solid OLine could go a long way. We will see.
w
v
wvParticipantWarner, Kupp, (now Stafford) etc. Some elite Rams have had injury issues that kept fans from really getting to enjoy them.
Makes ya appreciate Aaron Donald even more. He had a long run of good health.
There have been some Rams iron-men, havent there: Steven Jackson comes to mind. Of course Merlin had a ridiculous run. Jackie Slater.

wvParticipantRams are 5 point underdogs, according to draftkings, fwiw.
w
v
wvParticipantThat;s likely very true but let’s see if he steps up in a contract year. I don’t mean he will or even can become a #1, but maybe that combo of receivers plus the TEs can do so some good things.
Hard to say what Seattle will be this year. Two mystery teams. I expect a close game, down to the wire.
Can the defense stop the run? Can the Oline block? Can McVay coach young players?
w
v
wvParticipant“Without Kupp, Van Jefferson steps into the No. 1 receiver role, while Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua become Nos. 2 and 3…”
Good lord. Van Jefferson is a no.3 WR, I’d say.
w
v
wvParticipantRams Brothers@RamsBrothers Alaric Jackson • didn’t start playing football until his JR year of HS • starting LT for a team that’s less than 2 years removed from winning a SB • beat out Whitworth’s replacement in Noteboom, who was handed $40MM
This is ridiculously nitpicky….but “didnt start playing football until his JR year of HS”
So what.

wvParticipantTo state the obvious, I think they could steal some games here and there without Kupp, but on a week to week basis? They cant win consistently without him. I just dont see how. Stafford relies on him so much. I mean, they share the same brain out there. Cant replace that. Cant game plan around a loss like that.
fuck.
w
v
wvParticipantRams may be one of the three youngest teams, but Donald, Stafford and Kupp are the three super-stars, and they aint young. I dunno how long they have to…um….ya know. The R word.
Rehab? Reboot? Realize? Relax? …
w

wvParticipantRams Wire@TheRamsWireStetson Bennett had the lowest grade of any quarterback this preseason, which isn’t the way he hoped to start his career===
Yeah, we are all gonna be curious to see if and how, he develops.
Skimming thru this a bit, and the only 4th rounder i can see that amounted to much was Dak.
