wvParticipant2 big penalties on that Detroit drive… The offside that you noted and the PI.
Both on 3rd and long…
It is bad enough when a team converts on 3rd and long… but when aided by a penalty, it’s just a killer…
I’m optimistic… offense is clicking….
Rams need better pass pressure next week to give the secondary a chance against the NYG receivers…..
—————
I watched the first half (thanks to brownsugar) and it looked like two good offenses, and two bad defenses. Coulda gone either way.
Hill looked like a weak link the Lions were picking on, but man, EJ Gaines just looked awful on the TD catch in the first half.
That fourth and one call, brought back flashbacks of a game against the Vikes
many eons ago.w
v
wvParticipantThis loss has really affected a lot of fans. I think that 3-1 start they had,
had a lot of folks starting to wonder if this could finally be the year they turned the corner,
and then the Buffalo loss, and this Detroit thing — really stung a lot of people. SOSAR. Same Ole Sorry Ass Fisher. They are mad as hell and they aint gonna take it anymore 🙂
w
v
wvParticipantI expected the Rams D to give up a lot of points if Quinn didnt play.
I think i predicted they’d give up over 30. To me, losing Quinn is not just “an injury”.
Its a HUGE injury.Listen to Aaron Donald:
“We can’t get to the quarterback,” Aaron Donald said, shaking his head. “He’s back there all day, passing the ball, making plays.”
Fisher and GW and Boras have quite a challenge ahead of them. I dont ‘believe’ in them and i haven’t ‘given up on them’ yet. I’m just kinda…sittin here….waiting….like at the end of the movie “The Thing.”

wvParticipantGlad you had a good time at the fall festival. I love festivals, myself.
I was thinking of going to the “7 and 9 Bullshit Festival” this year, but
i couldn’t afford the tickets.I went last year though, and I thoroughly enjoyed the “Teacup Defense Ride”,
I ‘get’ the disappointment/anger and the giving-up-on-Fisher thing. I totally get that.
Perfectly reasonable reaction in my view. But for me, 3-3 is a lot different than 8-8. There’s still a LOT of time for improvement.
And for Quinn to come back.Remember they have played all six games with a back-up QB. No other team is doing that.

vOctober 17, 2016 at 7:59 am in reply to: I know…lost…but, when was the last time Rams receivers had a day like this? #55483
wvParticipantYeah it was definitely the best part of that game.
w
v
wvParticipantthey should have won. end of. three fourth down conversions. the lions won on two attempts. the rams lost on theirs. that turned out to be three tds. dumb penalties continually bit them in the ass throughout the game. no. no excuses this time.
they finally got some receivers and a solid qb. but this team is dumb and undisciplined. they should be ashamed.
———————
Could be, but Wildcard-level teams always have flaws. They are not really competing against the elite teams — they are competing against the other wildcard-level teams. Teams like…the Lions…the Giants. There’s still time for them to improve and make a run.
Big, painful loss though, for sure.
Fisher will probly tell them “its a new season, we are zero and zero” etc.
w
v
wvParticipantI just think this is a 7 win team without Q.
Today I think it’s more Johnson than Quinn. They have won before without Quinn. But with Johnson out, the D deteriorates more. With them BOTH playing they could win almost any game.
I know some will say that the pass rush helps the secondary but today what I saw was CB play falling below the Rams standard far more than you would expect.
Last year they went 3-2 with Keenum at qb, and Johnson playing but no Quinn.
…
—————
Well when i say they “cant win” without Q, i dont mean that literally. I know they can scratch out some wins, like they did last year. But they are just a “seven and nine” type team without quinn imho. Maybe eight and eight. With Q (and yes TruJo) they are a wildcard team.
You know three and three at this early stage, is not that bad. I’ve seen some boards where you’d think the four horseman of the Apocalypse had just rode in to town.
They are now one game out of the last Wildcard spot. With ten games to play.
Giants are 3-3. Rams are 3-3. Big game. Again.
w
v
wvParticipantThe Defense imho, has never been scary without Quinn AND Donald,
as I’ve said a gazillion times.Without their best CB, and without the dynamic duo of Q and AD — the D failed.
I just think this is a 7 win team without Q.
But who knows. They might surprise me. Hope so.
They are still in the playoff race, obviously. 3-3 is not the end
of the world 🙂 Neither is 3-4.3-5 would be the end of the World though. Just so you know.

w

wvParticipantWell at least Hayes and Brockers are playing. But then we dont know
how effective they will be if they are playing hurt.No Tru, no Q. I dunno.

wvParticipantGood. I think thats a good fit for them. I usually dont much like moves, but I’d actually like to see this one.
w
v
wvParticipantYeah, i think that too, but I’m not sure. Time will tell, as you noted.
Of course what i AM sure about is that the Football Godz hate the Rams.
Thus, as soon as the Ram Offense began improving Hayes-Quinn-Brockers got hurt,
and Tru got the high-ankle thing. So, i expect the Offense to put up 30 soon, and the D to allow 35.
The Godz insist on 7-9-Bullshit.

wvParticipantI actually believe that the United States and Russia are very close to war.
At this point I’d be more surprised if they didn’t have some sort of conflict. Whether it’s the Ukraine, missile shields in Europe or the war in Syria, there are so many hot spots right now, I can’t imagine those plates keep spinning.
Add to that the cyberattacks and the United States vow to respond, the personal animosity between Putin and Clinton, and you have a recipe for conflict.
I think it’s going to happen. How long it goes, how limited it will be, I don’t know.
And I hope I’m wrong.
But beyond that–when Trump loses the election I wouldn’t be surprised to see white nationalists try to start a race war here or create some sort of anarchy.
I try to be the optimist(except with the Rams, of course)but I think there are some dark times ahead.
—————
Nah, wont happen. The US does not get into shooting wars with
countries that have large amounts of nukes. There will be a lot of nasty talk and agitations and blustering,
but there wont be any War. Not with Russia.w
v
wvParticipantRobert Anton Wilson had a very low opinion of Carl Sagan.
Just saying…
Why?
Ted Turner is a bit of a dolt, isn’t he?
I got the impression that as Sagan talked Turner was singing the “Golden Grahams” tune in his head ala Homer Simpson.
——————
R.A.Wilson was a quirky, ornery guy. He wrote quirky books attacking fundamentalist-religions, but he also wrote a book attacking ‘scientific fundamentalism’ (‘The New Inquisition”)
He was very open to….oh, i think you like to call it “wooo” 🙂
He thot of Sagan as a scientific fundamentalist. (I dont quite see Sagan that way myself, btw)
R.A.Wilson was more of a Buckminster Fuller kinda sciency-guy, than a Carl Sagan kinda sciency-guy.
In a nutshell, Wilson kinda sorta evaluated science-experts on a spectrum of how much ‘woo’ they were open to.

“….Sagan’s hilarious theory of “nuclear winter.”* Briefly, Sagan’s theory holds that nuclear war could result, not just in the horrors we all know, but in a freeze that would probably abolish all life on this planet. (He published this notion in Parade, where his mass audience could see it and gasp.) His refusal to accept valid criticisms of this sci-fi story led to the following summary in Science, official journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, “News and Comments” section, Jan 16, 1987:Sagan’s refusal to acknowledge merit in the NCAR [National Center for Atmospheric Research]’s analysis — known as “nuclear autumn” — sends some people up the wall. One wall-climber is George Rathjens, professor of political science at M.I.T….”(Sagan’s) claim that the original nuclear winter model is unimpeached [he says]…is the greatest fraud we’ve seen in a long time”….Russell Seiz, a fellow at the Harvard Center for International Affairs…gibes at [Sagan and his co-authors] for mixing physics and advertising.
Most scientists I have spoken to about Sagan share this dim view of his use of publicity to represent his pet notions as Scientific Truth even when — or especially when — a large segment of the scientific community has severe doubts about these notions.
(Similarly, in Brocca’s Brain, Sagan rejects data on so-called “out of body experiences” among near-dead patients because — he says — nobody in that state has reported anything they couldn’t have heard while unconscious. But the literature of OOBE has hundreds of cases of such reports, including numerous incidents in which the subjects reported things in rooms far away from the operating room. Once again, we can only wonder if Sagan habitually lies through his teeth or just doesn’t read any of the literature on the subjects upon which he claims Expertese.)
But returning to Dr. Velikovsky, and Sagan’s crusade against his ideas: … see link”

wvParticipant“It seems to me that like Gurley, and like the OL, this CK/TA disconnect is a function of starting the season off out of sync. I am starting to get a theory in my head about why that is.”
The move? Hard Knocks? A change of scheme? Immigrants? Lizard People?

wvParticipantThe liberal bias of NPR has been obvious for decades. Now the MSM has lost all pretense of objectivity. The MSM has fatally shot themselves in regards to public perception.
—————–
Based on what little ive seen of mainstream TV, I agree with qualifications — First, I dont call the MSM ‘liberal’, I call it “pro-corporate”.Now Fox News is part of the MSM. Fox News is “pro corporate”.
MSNBC is part of the MSM. MSNBC is also “pro corporate”Practically ALLLL the MSM is “pro corporate”.
Fox news is not ‘liberal’ right? MSNBC, is ‘pro-corporate-but-liberal’ (in a sense, and with regard to social issues as opposed to corporate-econ-issues.)
Now with all that said, I DO agree that the NON-rightwing PART of the MSM (CBS, ABC, NBC, NPR, NYTIMES etc) are indeed totally in bed with Hillary. Its quite obvious and blatant, in my view.
If I were a Trump fan, I’d hate the Non-Rightwing part of the MSM.
….you still think he’s gonna win?? It would certainly defy what the polls are saying. I gotta think Hillary has this one nailed down now. Granted i thot that before and Trump came back.

v
wvParticipantYeah, the offense is still mediocre I’d say, but its not the atrocity
we were lookin at early on.Ugly wins. They just need to scratch out some ugly wins in this next stretch.
And they might be able to pull it off if they dont throw Pick6’s and the D gets
some turnovers. These next five games are all too close to call. 3-2 would be fine.
Seems like Buffalo was more concerned about the pass than other teams. I suppose thats a good sign.
