ParticipantTaunting after the INT, though. That was inexcusable, and the guy just seems to have a knack for getting flagged. But he’s also fairly effective, seems to me. .
Yeah, he’s got talent and he’s an immature. Morris and the secondary coaches have a nice project in this kid. Either they can coach him up or he’s always gonna be a bit of a selfish idiot. We’ll see.

ParticipantAlso, if we can go beyond the Rams for the best running backs we’ve ever seen . . . Gale Sayers was the first back that just stunned me as a fan of the game, and made me want to be a running back “when I grow up.”
.
Well…..I loved Brian Piccolo. And i wish you would love him too.

ParticipantI think you have to ask yourself why would an offense be “out of sync” 10 games into the season?
Capitalism.
Do i have to explain football to everyone on this board.

ParticipantNot sure the Rams win that game if Aaron Donald doesnt knock out the starting QB for that critical stretch. Wont show up as a sack or anything other than a hit, but that was probly a game-saver. w v
So you condone physical violence then?

Only by the oppressed. Aaron Donald was obviously being oppressed that whole game.

ParticipantCant quibble with any of that. Though If i were to quibble, I’m not sure I’d have W.Tyler that high on the list. But I’m older than BT, and i saw John Cappelletti, and he brought great blocking and instincts and leadership.
Plus, I saw the indomitable Les Josephson.

Participant“…. Now, the results don’t necessarily reflect that in a positive way from this game. But the thinking/process itself…he’s openly stating he’s calling for the TD, not just the go-ahead FG. And I’m not trying to put some sort of spin on this, and again I do see both opinions here, simply thinking out loud and thinking that is VERY interesting. Everything he said and then everything I gathered behind the scenes pointed toward: calls may have failed/outcomes weren’t all positive, but the late-down decisions seem to reflect a more aggressive process…”

ParticipantI just think Stafford is a QB playing with a hurt thumb. We’ve seen Kurt try to play with one. It aint always pretty. Ah well. A broken Stafford is still a gritty, wily, brainy QB.
I’m more impressed with this win, than some of uze, apparently. Tough, ugly win against a good team. I like Freeman, the RB.
Looking forward to watching Mr Goff, on genocide-day.

ParticipantWhere I am going to differ is in the defense of terrorism. First there are South African militants who condemned the “neck tie” burnings. So that’s not a universal example of battling apartheid. But my main thing is, everyone who commits terror believes in their hearts it’s in the name of a just cause. That includes the KKK with its lynchings, McVeigh and Oklahoma, the Nazis in their ascent to power, Mussolini’s fascists, and so on…for that matter it includes the illegal settlement mafia that attacks West Bank Palestinians to drive them off their land. If we say to them our cause is true and yours isn’t, they say the same to us. So I never excuse anything that can just be used by the other side, using the same rationale. I also don’t equate Hamas with Palestinians. And in case that sounds like some thin anti-muslim veneer, during the conflict between the Israeli state forces and Hezbollah, I defended Hezbollah. The current Israeli government promoted Hamas. Not enough people know that yet. To me the left and wars of liberation have to honestly act like they really are better, not just in their principles but in their tactics. That can be done in ways that are pragmatic and effective, so I don’t accept the Stalin-like argument that the other side plays dirty so you have to too (that’s not addressed to anyone here–it’s something I hear around sometimes when these issues come up). To quote The Hound (it’s the exchange that starts at 3:20): <iframe title=”The Hound meets the Brotherhood – BRILLIANT dialogues | Game of Thrones” src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/71KqyxYb-dM?feature=oembed” width=”690″ height=”388″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”allowfullscreen”></iframe>
Well, I dunno, but I just cant see any way the Palestinians can achieve any kind of justice/land by peaceful means. Can you imagine Israel budging an inch on any of this?
I also ant see any way the Palestinians can achieve any kind of justice/land by violent means. Can you imagine Israel/USA losing a war to the Palestinians?
So….
I cant condemn Hamas. I cant condemn any ‘terrorist’ group who is in the position Hamas is in.
I also cant praise or cheer or celebrate what Hamas did. I cant ‘go there’ either.
So, i just stay silent on the Hamas part of this.
On the Israeli Occupation part of it — i never shut up.

ParticipantWell…its better than i expected but it doesnt really represent my view. Its what i have heard described as a ‘soft zionist’ view.
I mean nowhere in that vid is the word ‘occupation’ even uttered. Seems to me, He kinda starts from the premise that both sides are equally innocent and equally guilty or something close to that.
One of my questions is this — is it even possible to legitimately argue a group is a ‘terrorist group’ when said group is fighting a murderous occupation? Was the ANC a ‘terrorist group’ when they were burning people alive, as they fought against apartheid in South Africa? Were the Black Panthers ‘terrorists’ when they were robbing stores to get money for ‘the revolution’ ? Were the Earth First folks ‘terrorists’ for blowing stuff up in their fight against capitalist-ecocide?
I dunno. I’m hopeless, I’m afraid.
I noted Chomsky asked this question in an old video: If the Palestinians remain peaceful, what changes will Israel make? (the obvious answer, being Nothing, None, Zip. Just a slow continuation of expanding settlements and ruthless occupation)

I was always told, when God closes one door….you should listen to your handlers, and market yourself as a new-improved, team-player.

ParticipantSo after week 10 (i think?) this is the sich-u-a-shun:
Division leaders in order : Eagles, Lions, 49ers, Saints.
3 Wildcard teams as of today:
Dallas 6-3
Seattle 6-3
Minnesota 6-4
—
In the hunt:
Bucs 4-5
Commanders, Falcons 4-6
Packers, Rams 3-6
==
Rams would have to climb over 5 teams.
Next up: Seattle, Arizona, Cleveland, Baltimore.

ParticipantIf opposing defenses are ‘breaking tendencies’ against the Rams, is it because they think McVay is not good at ‘adjusting’ during games? Or…what?
(And do teams ‘break tendencies’ against the Rams more than other teams? I mean dont all teams try and break their tendencies, etc?)
If any of this ‘breaking tendencies’ stuff is true, then one would think it would lead McVay to be a better coach next year. He’s gonna have to develop a plan for being more….’fluid’ or somethin in the future. I dunno.

ParticipantI don’t like Wentz much. But the Rams don’t take my calls anymore so I guess I have no input. …
Well, I know Wentz has been a dick, but I am hoping he aint stupid. If he aint stupid he will have learned something by watching what Baker Mayfield did. Shut up, Get with the program, do well and revive yer career.
See how simple it is 🙂

ParticipantBut they went into the game with Rypien which suggests to me that McVay was at least trying to place some guys around Rypien whom he was familiar with on a first-name basis. Now, if I’m right that McVay put zero effort into grooming Rypien, it’s hardly a season-breaker cuz they never figured to be a serious contender, and Rypien was never in the plans anyway. If this happened during a “real” season, I think I’d be kinda pissed. This isn’t a good look for McVay, no matter how you evaluate it, but…you know…this seems like a “lapse” to me. An understandable lapse, but it’s a lapse.
Well, Im just an idiot-fan, and I know i know nothing, but this ‘could’ have been a wildcard-year. The NFC middle-tier teams are pretty mediocre as per usual.
So, i just dont understand how you dont sign Wentz at the beginning of the year. Assuming he was available. (was he?)
I mean, Stafford is elite, but we know he’s breaking down. He does not have a Brady body.
If Wentz had been the backup from day one, they win that Packer game and are in the wildcard hunt.

ParticipantWell….good.
Wentz is a mystery. All the physical talent in the world. Can McVay do with him what he did with Baker Mayfield.

ParticipantJust watched the highlights today. Obviously, this team is a helpless with a Quarterback with ‘that’ amount of talent and that amount of experience.
Thing is, we knew Stafford was an aging, patched-together-QB. I have not liked McVay’s solution to the backup QB issue for the last few years. I dont get it.
I wanted a decent vet backup. …basically, i ‘always’ want a decent vet back up QB though. I wanted a decent back up QB back when Trent Green went down. Like, say, Hostetler. But did Vermeil listen? No.
I guess we’ll see how much fight this team has in it, as the season goes along. Wont be a lot of wins, though. But it would be nice to outhit some teams and maybe get a win over, say, the 49ers.

ParticipantCowboys vs. Rams 2018 NFC Divisional Highlights | NFL
wv
ParticipantCowboys favored by 6 at the moment, i guess
“….The Rams have been up-and-down this season, and they’ll bring a 3-4 record into this NFC matchup after falling 24-17 at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7. Los Angeles was outscored 14-0 in the fourth quarter of that game, as the Steelers came back to notch a road victory. Puka Nacua continued his fantastic rookie season with 8 catches for 154 receiving yards in that game, and he’ll continue to be a difference-maker even with Cooper Kupp healthy.
I’m leaning toward the underdog Rams to keep this one close and cover the spread in this game. Los Angeles has been in every game they have played this season, even against top-flight competition. This one should be close, and that makes the Rams a solid pick while getting points.”
