wvParticipantGoff was 26 out of 33 for 465 and 5 tds, Warner and Greene were 27 out of 34 for 465 and 5 tds but Kupp taught me a new word comfortability so there is that. I have a track record of zero decorum and I do not know what seemliness is but I did predict the Rams going to the Superbowl in July 99′.
===================
Well, in July of 99, i predicted the Rams would be the Seemliest Show on Turf.w

that offense in this era with all the protection qbs enjoy?
not as impressed. i think that san diego game was more impressive.
Well, yeah that was a really impressive performance against SD.
But what impressed me about the performance last night is that Minn is purported to have perhaps the best defense in the league, although perhaps it’s not as good as advertised. My memory may be off but I thought San Diego didn’t have a good defense when they faced the GSOT.
================
Its still so early though. Four games. I’m guessing the Ram offense will come back to earth soon.
I get a little annoyed at the GSOT comparisons after only four games. I mean we really dont know that the Vikes D is still good this year. Its too soon to say. They didnt look good against the Bills.
I’m happy though. Four great games.
And btw, i said the same thing in 1999 after four games. I urged caution. And decorum. I warned people not to get too excited, its probly just a mirage, smoke and mirrors.
So, ya know, i have a track record, here.w

wvParticipant“…but their record is just 0-1-1 in those games. The defense just allowed too many big plays in the passing game to the Rams, and the Vikings’ secondary needs to find its way to complement its now fully competent offense.”
Rams still haven’t played anybody,
i guess.w

Rams won. Vikings lost.

And yet, americunz keep voting for assholes. Over, and over and over.
They could have had universal care decades ago. No-one is stopping them from voting out the assholes and voting in politicians who would give them universal care. Thats why i dont pay much attention to all these surveys that say most americans want universal health care. If that were true, we’d have universal health care.I wonder who Alex Smith voted for?

wvParticipantIn the Charger game, Goff played the most ‘inter esting’ game I’ve seen him play.
There were times he winged it like Favre. (and got intercepted)
There were times he zinged it like Bulger. Perfect accuracy. Ropes.
There were times he floated it softly and accurately like Kurt.
And there were a few times he subtly moved in the pocket like Marino.Just a most-interesting performance. Its what we saw in the college hi-lites. Its what we hoped-for when Fisher moved up for him.
I think we are left with only one question now.
Can he consistently:1 Play clutch ball,
2 Under pressure,
3 In big games,
4 Especially playoff games.He’s certainly got great pieces around him. He couldnt ask for a better team. He’s set up to succeed, much like Warner was, and Bulger.

wvParticipantAs a lawyer, what is your take on Rose’ demand that K testifies first?

As a lawyer i can categorically state this american-corporotacracy we live in should be illegal. 🙂
…i havent followed the Kavanaugh thing at all Ozone. I rarely follow these dramas anymore. To me, its like following arguments between deckhands on the Titanic.
If Kavanaugh aint appointed to the court, Trump will just appoint someone even worse.
We’ll never know if K is guilty of the sex thing.

I think Cooks makes the difference in this game. Gurley gets shut down.

wvParticipantvikings injury report:https://247sports.com/nfl/minnesota-vikings/Article/Vikings-Rams-Monday-injury-report-122466532/
“…Perhaps the most concerning of them is defensive end Everson Griffen, who was listed with both the knee injury that bothered him last week and had him designated as out on Friday against the Buffalo Bills and then the added concern of “not injury related.” Griffen didn’t attend Sunday’s game, prompting head coach Mike Zimmer to say that Griffen wasn’t there because of a “personal matter” and not expanding on the reason. Griffen was around the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center last week and usually injured players attend the games. He wasn’t seen in the locker room on Monday.
In addition to him not participating were running back Dalvin Cook (hamstring), left tackle Riley Reiff (foot) and cornerback/return man Marcus Sherels (ribs). Cook was in the locker room Monday and said there’s a “good chance” he could play on Thursday in Los Angeles but cautioned against returning too soon.
“It’s not a rush. We’re not in panic mode. This team, we’re still working every week. We’re still getting better,” he said. “There’s still a lot of things we’ve got to work on. The game just got out of hand. Everything fell right for them. We’ve just got to get a better start. That’s what today is for and tomorrow.”
The good news for the Vikings is that center Pat Elflein made his debut this season in Sunday’s game, playing in 22 snaps. He said he is ready for full-time duty if needed on Thursday, which could push Brett Jones to a reserve role or see him slide to guard. It’s also encouraging that Elflein’s shoulder injury is no longer part of the injury report…”
wvParticipantI agree, they are on their heels. Gurley and Goff are both just too good….pick your poison.
============
Yeah, they have the players and the coaching. And the NFC doesnt look quite so formidable now.
And the Pats dont look unbeatable.A lot of things could happen but one of them things is a super bowl title. Heck weve already penciled in the playoff berth — we are now thinking about Home Field Advantage. Which leads to the…Vikings.
The Viking game will be a great measure. Last year’s Viking defense just throttled Goff and the offense.
McVay has had a year to process that game. So we’ll see.w

wvParticipantSo I’m watchin the condensed version of the charger game (only 45 mins to watch it all), and i watched the first ram TD drive. A thing of beauty. Precision. Whipsawing the charger D. Perfect Execution. No pressure on Goff. Gurly blasting through tackles.
So impressive.And then there’s the OLine on the goaline and Gurley smashing in easily. Just like the other games.
Remember when the Rams couldnt run in the redzone? Well what is the secret? Is it the talent on the Oline? Gurley’s skill? I dont think so. I think its the scheme mainly (plus those other two things). By ‘scheme’ i mean i think the Defenses just dont know whats coming. They seem on their heels. A lot. So far.
And thats McVay. Mainly.w

wvParticipantThe “Fight for L.A.” is something that’s been talked about since the Chargers moved to Los Angeles, and on Sunday, they’ll finally get to face their crosstown rivals, the Rams. It’s their first regular season matchup since 2014 and the first with both teams in L.A., which heightens the excitement.
Uh. Los Angeles has the Dodgers, Angels, Kings, Ducks, Lakers, Clippers, Rams, Chargers, USC, and UCLA.
Of all those teams, the Chargers are at the bottom. This is a team that cannot sell out their stadium which seats 27,000.
They could leave Los Angeles, and more than half the city would be surprised to learn that they were ever there.
==================
I think the San Diego Chargers had the funnest team in NFL history. That Coryell group. And they had to play by the old-school NFL rules. Back when defenses could actually take yer head off.
I always have a bit of a soft spot in my football-heart for the Chargers because of the memories of that group.
Now that GRITS is in the sky, someone has to take over as board-charger-fan, i spose. 🙂

wvParticipantGood test. A decent-to-solid team. A great QB in Rivers. Much better QB than they’ve faced so far.
I’ll be curious to see how Rivers attacks this D.

wvParticipantCooks reminds me of a GSOT WR. Ike, Torry, that kind of thing. Quick. Hard to cover. Wiley. Unafraid to go over the middle.
Sammy was/is a different animal.
Sammy might be better in the redzone, i dunno.
At any rate, Cooks and Goff seem to have a good chemistry and are on the same page. Their timing is impressive after being together for such a short time.
w

wvParticipantI wonder what the passer ratings are for first two QBs the Rams d has faced?

wvParticipantoffense did well. goff was sharp. or at least sharper than the week before.
defense pitched a shutout.
and yet. i think they can play better. much better.
that’s a little weird to say. but i think it’s true. they haven’t played particularly strong teams. and when they go up against teams like the vikings, they will have to play a lot better than they have…
but i think they will.
================
Yeah they can play much better i think.
We know they are really good. It only took two games, but we know that already.
But are they Vikings good. Eagles good. Bucs good. Etc.
Looks like they are but we gotz to see it on the field to know.
w
v
wvParticipantI’m glad Sam was able to walk away from this one.
Always had a deep respect I mean that most sincerely..
==================
Bradford will always be one of them players there aint no consensus on.
But i think it would be unfair to judge any QB harshly who had to play the Rams D, on the road,
with that offense of the Cardinals. They may be the worst team in football. It was painful watching them, slowly, bumble around and wait to be knocked down.So far we havent seen a collection of players and coaches who could solve the Ram defense. Its gonna take a really good OC, and a good OLine, and an topflight QB who can MOVE. And a couple of good weapons. I dunno how many teams have that. Otherwise, its gonna take the Rams just being flat. Which is bound to happen now and then.
w
v
wvParticipantThis team is so boring now. Games over at half-time.
Bring back Fisher.

wvParticipant——————————-
they been blatantly holding and no calls its freaking bullcrap——————————-
Always my favorite fan complaint.
Anyway, moving on…if I were a Raiders fan, there are two things that would bother me above anything else last night.
1) that pass that Littleton intercepted.
2) the pass Carr threw away to the near sideline…way out of bounds, near nobody….when he still had time.
Those passes were awful. Like “3rd-string rookie QB brought into a game under extreme emergency conditions” level of awful.
That throw Littleton intercepted was so atrocious that it leaves me gasping even now. That pass was directly TO Littleton…who was near exactly Nobody…and it hung in the air like a Dave Kingman pop fly. I mean you could have left at the moment of the pass, and gone to go buy a hotdog and come back, and still no Raiders receiver would have been near that ball when it floated into Littleton’s arms.
On the basis of exactly one game only, I am going to predict that Carr is a Goner. Gruden was caught shaking his head, and murmuring “Fuck” once, a few times during that game. The Raiders will be drafting a QB with one of their #1 picks next year.
===============
Yeah, I’m still wondering wtf was up with that throw to Littleton. That was just weird.
Maybe it slipped out of his hand, i dunno.

wvParticipantMichael Gehlken@GehlkenNFL
Trifecta: Jared Cook on Monday set the Raiders’ single-game record for most receiving yards by a tight end. He now owns this record for three different NFL franchises================
Which is puzzling. I mean most of the time he doesnt do much. But he has the talent to do what he did against the Rams. So why are most of his games so underwhelming?
I got the impression Gruden lit a fire under him for that game. I’ve never seen him that physical. I mean usually he’s the opposite of physical. Maybe he got tired of being viewed as nonphysical. Maybe Marshawn Lynch threatened him.

wvParticipantI was at wv-moms house and lo and behold the rams game was being replayed on the tv. So i saw a lot of it.
I came away with two thots:
One– Marshawn Lynch made me smile. What a strong back. Gritty, tough, old-school, in his old age. What is it about gettin old that ya start rooting for the grizzled ones. Having said that a lot of his yards came because he’s a bull. The holes werent big. I thot the Ram Run Defense was just fine. Which is fucking critical. Bring on Atlanta, now.
two — I thot the Rams D Line scared the hell out of Gruden and whatshisname the QB. They were not about to let the Rams pass rush win this game. So even though the DLine didnt have splashy plays, they still won the game imho. The raiders offense limited itself so much that the Rams linebackers and secondary didnt have to worry about the whole raider playbook. Thats how it looked to me, anyway.
Obviously the offense will get better with more practice and game experience. Woods and Goff will connect on some big stuff.

wvParticipantI set this to the 4:26 mark. Whitlock’s partner (dunno his name) argued that Wade Phillips ‘wanted’ the Raiders to throw to Jarod Cook.
