wvParticipantFormer ‘materialist,’ Michael Pollan on ‘spirituality’ and how he changed his experience/notions about it after his mushroom trips:
wvParticipantyeah. this is what i was hoping for. move him inside. move him outside.
depending on the situation.
i’m still skeptical how much impact he can make. we’ll see.
=================
Well if nothing else maybe he will help with run-defense. Gap discipline, that kind of thing.
The future is now.
w
v
wvParticipantNice veteran role player. Would be surprised if he didn’t make a big play or two at clutch time now and then. Probly will disappear for stretches but then make a big play in the clutch.
I would think the season depends on the OLine decisions. As per usual.
w
v
wvParticipantScientists stopped researching psychedelic drugs despite their positive potentials. Pollan sez that is basically unprecedented in modern science. Haf ta go back to Galileo, according to Pollan…
wvParticipantSo they lost faith in Mannion.
w
v
wvParticipantHow was the food?
Except for creole night.
==============
The bread was very good. Better than the seafood.
They kept trying to serve me things with octopus in it. I had to keep telling them to hold the octopus.
I dont eat octopuses. I think octopuses should eat people.w
v
wvParticipantWell, was it a fair trade off? Beautiful scenery, a whole day on the can?
Good to see you back.
I thought Zooey and Nittany had finally gone and done their terrible plan.
What plan?
Uh…nothing. Nevermind.
===========
I’m not sure it was worth it. I dont think I’m very good at traveling. For starters I cant use a bathroom on a plane. Instead, I shut down all my internal organs so that i dont have to stand up and walk down the aisle and go to the bathroom. Its a zen thing.
I did learn that customs agents will let me bring a bag of rocks into the country, but not a can opener.
w
v
wvParticipantI think they should keep signing all-pros.
w
v
wvParticipantThis is concerning to me. Center is the most Important-yet-under-appreciated role in pro-football, imho.
How can they replace his Knowledge/experience at that critical spot? They got better when they got him, didnt they?
w
v
wvParticipantThis “it wasn’t an injury, it was an aggravation” line is problematic.
Agree completely with all that, especially the line I quote.
Though…having said that, the “arthritic condition” story is still not solid fact. Basically it’s one reporter from a reputable journal (The Athletic) who cites a “source.”
Not easily dismissed. But also too soon to take it as established fact.
===================
The Rams had a ton of good luck as far as being free from major injuries last year. Which was one reason they made to the super bowl, of course.
But still one wonders if things would have turned out differently if Cooper Kupp and and a healthy Gurley had showed up to face the Pats.
Gurley’s “aggravation” certainly is a tricky problem. It affects the draft, free agency, and Snead’s general plan. How can Snead plan for the future, if he doesnt really know how fast the ‘aggravation’ is going to deteriorate? Does Gurley have one good year left? Less than one? More than one? Will he ever be the same? Doesnt sound like anyone knows.
w
v
wvParticipantI got it!
I got it today.
I messaged Sands again last week to remind her, and she has sent me Oakley’s copy of the script. I am just fucking beside myself. And I don’t even know how good it is…ya know. But I have it!
=================
Well let us know what you think of it.
w
v
This group was named after his dad.
wvParticipantWell it was obvious he was playing ‘hurt.’ And allllll the celebrity-tv-pundits that blamed McVay for forgetting about Gurley, etc — are and were, idiots.
It was just so obvious.
I can understand the Rams and Gurley not wanting to confirm the situation to their opponents. But now, post-season, I cant understand why Gurley hasn’t come out and talked about it.
This “it wasn’t an injury, it was an aggravation” line is problematic.
w
v
wvParticipantThat’s what I was saying a week ago, too.
But – I know times have changed – but Nixon committed fewer crimes than Trump. This guy is filthy on every front. And it’s in a fishbowl. And the problem for the System is that Not Doing Anything will also tear the thing apart. I think the only path to stability is going to see Trump pay a price.
As hard as it is to imagine a president going to trial…I just cannot see an alternative at this point except something that openly terminates the illusion of democracy. And I think the illusion of democracy is too valuable to the powers that be, and has too many people committed to the System.
==================
Ok, well, you are dead wrong 🙂
You still have some scintilla of faith in the institutions in this shit-hole. Things are much worse than in the Nixon days. Nixon was a fluke, anyway. Without all those tapes, he would have strolled into the sunset.
Some big parts of the deep-state dont like trump. But they’ll be patient. They’ll make sure the dems win the next election. And then we’ll get back to the slower version of biosphere destruction, mega-lies, and surreal-inequality. Go Dems 🙂

wvParticipantIf there’s any Karma-Justice in this Universe,
someday, eons from now, a Lion-oid being will have Kronky’s head on a bathroom wall.w
vMarch 2, 2019 at 11:04 am in reply to: Is there a scenario in which Trump DOESN'T go to jail? #98438
wvParticipantWhat planet are you on, Z ? 🙂 Have you seen the reaction to all that stuff, by the rightwingers?
12 people on a jury. Gotta figure plenty of them would be rightwingers.
He aint goin to jail. He aint even gonna be put on trial. The system would worry too much about “tearing the country apart” etc, etc. The system will probly just hope he doesnt get re-elected. Let him ride off into the sunset. (and no he wont try to hold onto power)
w
v
wvParticipantEven when FOX gets it right, they get it wrong.
=========
Yeah, true, but Maher often-times is the epitome of the elitist-snob. He is really good (and funny) on a lot of things. And then there’s the faceplant stuff. He’s basically a thomas-friedman-corporate-dem at heart. Only funnier.
w
v
wvParticipantInteresting.
w
v
wvParticipantMaybe there is no one best diet:
wvParticipantWell, I’m curious about nutrition and exercise and intermittent fasting. So many different ideas on all this stuff. In the end I usually end up experimenting on myself and seeing how it goes.
I thot this was interesting. This guy was the guru of hi-carbs for decades. Then he changed his mind:
wvParticipant
wvParticipantRonda rousey supports Bernie.
wvParticipant
wvParticipantProstitution is often seen as a “victimless crime” but that’s certainly not true if human sex trafficking is involved. It will be interesting to see if Kraft knew about the sex trafficking. My guess is he did.
================
My wild-speculation is he didn’t want to know, so his brain allowed him not to know.
You know how human brains justify the unjustifiable.w
v
wvParticipantThe Stupid on that channel is truly something.
It has become satire of itself. And it’s really…I mean…people believe this stuff. They really believe it.
I ran into someone on the net the other day who believes that Barack is gay, and Michelle is a man, and their two kids are not really their kids. Seriously.
This network is dangerous.
================
Well what’s scarier is that the opposition to the ‘dangerous-network’ is…CNN, ABC, NBC, etc.
But you know all that.
I just never think of Fox/talk-radio in isolation anymore. I always think of Fox/NY-Times/Wash-Post/MSNBC/NPR/PBS/CBS/ABC…
Corporate Capitalism.
This growing, consolidating, deadly system does seem to be churning up some progressives though. Bernie, Ocasio, etc. A few candles in the shit-storm probly, but who knows.
w
v
wvParticipantIve noticed when the usual-tv-comedians (colbert, trevor, etc) show graphics on the Dem field of candidates — they always have K.Harris in the center and in front. Not surprising. The new Hillary. The choice of the
powers that be.
Kinda like Chalabi.w
v
wvParticipant
wvParticipantWhat kind of bird is it?
w
v
wvParticipantIt annoyed me that she apologized for using the language she used. I think the apology hurt her more than the criticism of her language.
w
v
wvParticipantAny society that has homeless people and billionaires is a fucked up society.
The fact that that is unclear to most Americans is a reflection of the depth of the fucked-up-ness of society.
