Yeah, Waldman is always good. He’s analytical but he also just enjoys the layers of the game.

The bomb to Cooks is, as everyone has noted, about as beautiful as the long bomb gets. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a WR tracking with his head/neck back that far, for that long. And the fingertip catch. And the length of the throw. And the high arc. Are you kidding me.

Course they screwed up in the redzone, naturally 🙂

Would not surprise me if the season had a lot of games like this one. Sputtering offense, but defense keeps them in the game

I assume (maybe wrongly) you think that because of the young OL?

I actually think Goff is prepared to return to his “regular 100 qb ratings” days from before the bye last year. I just think they had a game and a half of rust and are now hitting stride.

What do others think? What’s the “informal poll” on that?

    =================

Oline mainly, plus less Gurley. Plus better competition in the Division, looks like.

Saffold was a big loss. Whitworth will wear down.

    But who knows.

Impressive play by Cooks on the short TD catch. He made a tough contested catch. Not his forte last year.

To state the obvious, I thought the first half offense was A-biz-mal. Abysmal.

Would not surprise me if the season had a lot of games like this one. Sputtering offense, but defense keeps them in the game, and they pull it out with smart, tough, gritty play in the end. But there will also be times the offense blows it early, I would think. Seemed to me a couple of those early Goff throws could have easily been INTs.

…so I’m watchin the game on replay, and WTF was McVay or Goff thinking on that call on third and goal early in the first quarter. The pass to Everett that had no chance of going anywhere. Even Aikman was startled by it.

Worst call of the year, so far.

The Lions game was a real struggle too, but they didnt mention that.

Generally speakin, it kinda seemed to me, the Rams offense peaked during the Chiefs game.
But the Defense peaked in the playoffs.

We don’t know if he will get us anywhere.

But we know for sure none of the other candidates will.

Well, i keep thinkin either bernie or warren will have to drop out, and maybe they join forces and will be on the same ticket. I would think that would be about as good as the duplicats can get.

I just think its a great great match-up. Great coaches, great rivalry.

The saints have a bit more motivation probly, but its in LA. The Saints have Breeze, but the Rams have Donald.

Could go either way, but I’m gonna go with Weddle. I think maybe his football-IQ will make a tiny difference and the Rams eke out a win. I think Weddle is McVay’s answer to…somethin. Some perceived problem they had last year.

Whoever wins it, itz a BIG win, even though its early. It would be nice to never ever have to go to New Orleans again, in the playoffs. Ya know. Dont wanna see ‘that’ place again.

Cosell drills home the evidence-proven fact that run-game effectiveness has no impact on how linebackers react. “They do what they’re taught.” And that’s playing the run when they see a handoff or when the OL technique shows run.

OK, but that goes against every announcers cliches going back forty years.

This is the political climate we live in. A country where one-third of the population gets spoonfed absolute nonsense.

    ====================

Yeah, though i dont know that I’d use the word ‘climate,’ since to me it suggests a possibility of change.

I think once a corporotacracy dums-down its democratz and republithugz, its ‘climate’ is only going to get worse till the collapse.

Once a critical-mass-stage of dum-ness has been reached, I think a corporotacracy can only go in one direction. Coz there aint enuff non-dum-citizens to turn it around anymore.

Bolton is a leftist. In this climate maybe he is. 🙂

    Damn rightwing-leftists.

There was a noticeable drop in the #Rams usage of 11 Personnel on Sunday, and while it was tough sledding operating out of other groupings it’s imperative the Rams continue to diversify.

What does that mean in dummed-down-english? Who will be on the field more and who will be on the field less, etc.

Wolff’s larger point about how the left just cant get along with itself made me smile. I’ve been wondering about that for a decade. Why cant leftists organize more effectively? Put ten of em in a room and they start tearing each other apart. I dunno. Anyway, thats how it seems to me.

There were parts of that second article that made me roll my eyes. Some of the players are makin it out like the Media shouldnt have had the audacity to question whether Gurley would ever be the same. Really?

The guy has a degenerative knee problem. He barely touched the ball in the two biggest games of the year last year. Why shouldn’t the corporate-media have a ton of questions?

There i go again, defending the corporate-media.

Well, Cumberbatch is very talented, to state the obvious, and he did a great job with the dragon-audio, but I thought the dragon-scenes ultimately failed because of the plot-visuals. The scenes reminded me of the kind of bad-movie scenes where the bad guys shoot a gazillion bullets that always miss the target, etc. I mean, i half expected the dragon to slip on a banana peel at some point.

I’ve watched it on replay up to the blocked punt.

My first impression is that McVay outcoached Rivera, just a bit. McVay’s team just looked like it had a better overall plan. The quick counts, the rhythms, the flow. Just looked like McVay had a better plan.

My second thot iz — I never complain after a road win. Against any team.

My third thot is, I thot the OLine played purty well, considering the Panthers Dline is purty good. I’ve seen a lot worse performances against that D. But part of that is McVay. He called a LOT of quick short passes, and some quick screens, and outside runs, etc. McVay made it a point to make it easy on the OLine. Good coaching.

My forth thot is, what did the Panthers do to nullify Aaron Donald? Just curious.
Maybe they just have a good interior Oline? Is Donald hurt?

My fifth thot is, the Rams offense looks different this year. More Kupp, Less Gurley. I dunno. It worked today, but I dunno. With Gurley not being Gurley anymore, and Kupp getting hit hard a lot, I dunno if this formula will be effective down the stretch.

My sixth thot is, I really really cant stand, Jon Gruden, Antonio Brown, or the Patriots.

Jared Goff is very very overrated by national media

don’t you folks find this statement to be quite opposite?…. Goff is not a media darling

    =======================

Why in the world would anyone pay attention to what “the national media” say about…anything.

At any rate, concerning Goff, what I saw was that the “national media” loved him after the Chief game and hated him after the Patriot game. That is how they roll.

I have watched football since 1968, and apart from that incredible accumulation of talent in the early 70s, Snead has a better track record than anybody else.

    So…welcome to the Rams, Tyler.

Anyone who once had a blue and white rams helmet gets to think any damn thing they want. So, either you,
or your brother, gets to have blind faith in Snead or Fisher or Taje Allen or John St.Clair or anyone you want. Its in the message board Terms of Use. Its called the 1968-Rule

Damn, that old-blue-and-white stuff is awesome to see. And hear. Pat Summeral’s voice on those old high-light shows brings back the memories. At least for an oldtimer like me. How i used to love those highlight shows. No espn, no internet back then. Most of the LA games were not televised here in WV. I basically just had to follow the scores as they came in while i was watching the Steelers vs the Browns or Washington vs Dallas or some such nonsense.

…I wouldnt watch the hi lite shows when the Rams lost, of course.
