I always thought Aikman was critical but fair, regarding Goff.I dont think Mc-Snead should have said one single
word — other than bland generalities — to the Press, about Goff during the negotiations. I dunno why they felt the need to do the coy shit.Having said that, i also think these are multi-millionaires
playing a game, and I dont ‘feel sorry’ for Goff, and i
dont think McVay/Snead did anything to the level of what we saw,

Free rushers couldn’t cover the bootlegs the Rams love to use, because Wolford got into them faster and moved them away from that pressure when needed. Against the Cardinals, whose defensive game plan dared Wolford to throw in an effort to contain the Rams’ run game, McVay appreciated how his entire offense and the quarterback weren’t dependent on successfully running the ball.
I am not that impressed with this writer even though she gets all kind of praise. This paragraph is just dumb.
The Cardinals are not a real play-off caliber defense with talented pass rushers, like the 49ers with Nick Bossa. McVay and the Rams are usually fine against teams like the Cards, but you need real talent, especially on the o-line, to match up against talented d-lines.
I think we all know that here. I just find it frustrating to see this completely ignored from Rodrigue.
Where are the good o-line players going to come from? I’m not sure the Rams even have ONE good player o-line now. They have no cap and, now, have lost some good picks to find those players.
McVay and Snead are getting way too much benefit of the doubt from Rodrigue and other Rams fans.
McVay and Snead have made a number of bad gambles after they lost the benefits of Goff’s rookie deal–the 2019 plan to replace Saffold & Sullivan was lousy, the plan for the 3rd WR this year sucked, and the special teams in 2020 (remember Sloman??) revealed the dangers of replacing talented players with a lottery ticket.
It will be interesting to see what the Lions do this year. They actually have some interesting potential on offense: two good tackles, a 2nd team-all pro Center, a young & talented TE, and a WR in Golladay, who will provide Goff with a big, talented guy who can go get the ball. Goff has never played with a guy like that.
If the Rams have an injury-riddled year that leads to a losing record this year or next, the Lions will definitely be laughing all the way to the bank.

And i think the Rams, of course, know they need to address
the OLine.I have zero idea how all this change (coaching losses, new QB)
will turn-out. But I’ll say this purely as a fan
thinking about watching ‘fun plays’ — I am gonna enjoy FINALLY
seeing a Ram QB with a GUN, LoL.And yes, i know Stafford has made a ton of dum plays
and the expert-reviews on him are mixed. Some think he’s top tier,
some think he’s 2nd tier, some third tier. I guess we’ll find out.Its all about the OLine after this.

I watched about 10 minutes of Youtube highlights and saw Stafford take a ridiculous sack and fumble in the end zone 3 years ago against the Saints and also throw a dumb Int in the red zone against the Saints last year. Uggh.
Hopefully, the Rams are making a wise bet that some of their young guys–Brycen Hopkins, Anchrum, Jefferson, and maybe Brian Allen–will be talented players.
The 9ers still look like a better team and should be the team favored to win the West.

behind these guys: Goff 20 TD /13 INTLots of really good years for QBs,

that McVay was doing it with smoke and mirrors on offense.
They would have good games, but it just seemed a little,
i dunno…gimmicky or something on offense. Like he
was doing all this very effective dinking, dunking, roll-outs,
screens, etc. But it just seemed like he was doing it
BECAUSE there was a weakness he was trying to cover.And then late in the season, i think it was Orlovsky?
or one of those guys, said something similar.But i dunno. If it was a personnel weakness on the Oline,
maybe its fixable.It was a team that stomped the Patriots, and
turned around and got stomped by the Jets.
A team that twice just got beat-down by
a tough-but-losing team — the 49ers.
A team that took 2 out of 3 from Seattle.They were exactly what i think of

I still think you win with superior athletic talent, and that it’s the most important factor, but that coaching talent is close.

Brady had some of the most spacious, clear pockets
to throw from, I have ever seen. I mean, he had a TON
of room to heave those deep balls.
And when he ‘was’ pressured he threw INTs.
Granted those INTs were deep balls and essentially punts.Otoh, Rogers was pressured by that tampa line.
Tampa’s Oline and Dline just outplayed
Green Bays lines. Not by a lot, but enough.Chiefs just look like a GSOT with a mobile QB.
And there defense was just better
than the Bills D.Interesting matchup. Brady goin in as an underdog.
Not a total mismatch, but ya gotta think the Chiefs
are just the best overall team again.w

McVay (and Kromer) did everything possible scheme-wise to cover up offensive deficiencies…
This is is not a physically overpowering o-line… Yes, they performed better than 2019… And they were indeed better running this year than last… Better (healthier) running backs… More line consistency…
But note: 4 of their 6 losses were against top 10 rush defenses…
And when it came to passing and they faced defenses with a strong push up the middle (between the guards), the line could not keep the pocket from collapsing…
And having a traditional drop-back passer put the unit at risk… Thus they employed a lot of short-drop and / or heavy play-action to buy the blockers more time… As well as the rollouts…
This the reason for the quick / short routes… Why do you think 17-Woods and 10-Kupp where among the leaders in RAC…? Because 9 times out of 10, they were on the receiving end of a short catch and run… Rarely did any of the WR’s run long routes…
Two years ago, the average pass reception to 17-Woods travelled 10 yards before he caught it… This year, only 5 yards… (Same for 10-Kupp, only 5 yards…) Yet both players got about 10.5 yards p/catch INCLUDING RAC…
Again, much of the positive the team was able to accomplish was due to scheme, coaching and play-calling…
I believe the o-line was poor when it came to pass blocking… And serviceable when it came to run blocking…
And of course, 17-Woods and 10-Kupp are REALLY GOOD Wr’s… Two of my absolute favorite players… But the team lacked anyone to stretch the field and create more space for the offense – if they could hold their blocking long enough…
To further make my point, I suggest you watch McVay’s season closing press conference from Sunday… Where he readily admits to the o-line’s failing and the impact of not having a WR who can stretch the field…
