that’s pretty fucking amazing.
i think it’s a virtual certainty that there’s life on other planets. it’s just a matter of finding them.
Queue up the religious debate on creationism for the next, um, forever.
February 21, 2017 at 1:58 pm in reply to: ESPN: Five moves each NFC West team should make this offseason #65483snowmanParticipantFWIW, here is a fan’s (mine) reaction.
1. Sign Aaron Donald to a multi-year contract. Don’t pick up his fifth year option and let him get that close to becoming an UFA.
2. Do not sign Tru Johnson to a Darrel Revis contract. He is not worth it, and neither was Jenkins in NY. Let Joyner and Gaines play, and draft a corner or two.
3. OK to gather compensatory picks if we are letting players around 30 years old sign elsewhere, but don’t make this a cornerstone of the rebuilding process. And do not let a quality young defender like McDonald walk.
4. Build an offensive line, yes, and try moving Robinson inside. Saffold is still under contract, move him back to LOT and sign a vet UFA like Sowell or Hills for about a million bucks to have a decent rotation. Draft a LOT in the second or fourth rounds.
5. This is something we have to do regardless.snowmanParticipantI am numb, with brief periods of internal rage. Mostly I am numb because I have worked in state and local government for more than 30 years, and nothing gets better at any level. The rhetoric is still there, the media bias is still there, the partisan infighting is still there. Many people do not trust their government but are loyal to their political faction or interest group. This country is fractured at all levels of government.

February 15, 2017 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Should the Rams franchise CB Trumaine Johnson again? #65310snowmanParticipantToo much money for a good but not great corner.
snowmanParticipantFWIW, media outlets like newspapers or online feeds either print or do not print press releases, they do not edit them. If the BBC publishes a press release that they know is biased or contains errors, that’s on them. If they never investigate an issue to verify information in the press release they publish, that’s on them too. It comes down to whether anyone calls them on it and gets an audience to prove them wrong.
snowmanParticipantzn, I thought about you today when Al Roker was describing how totally fucked New England is by this snowstorm!
snowmanParticipantHistoric collapse and comeback. Atlanta Chokers.
snowmanParticipantGod fucking dammit.
snowmanParticipantSo far so good if you like Atlanta!
Though there’s this:
Mike Sando
ESPN Senior WriterNever thought I’d be looking up this, but Tom Brady is 2-3 as a starter when trailing by 21+ points in the first half.
40% is not a bad comeback rate.
But not today!
snowmanParticipantI am LOVING this Super Bowl!

New England 27snowmanParticipantI dunno how accurate Rasmussen polls are but:
Most Support Temporary Ban on Newcomers from Terrorist Havens
link:http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/immigration/january_2017/most_support_temporary_ban_on_newcomers_from_terrorist_havens“…A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 57% of Likely U.S. Voters favor a temporary ban on refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen until the federal government approves its ability to screen out potential terrorists from coming here. Thirty-three percent (33%) are opposed, while 10% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.) …
Key words in the quote above that may also have been part of the polling question are ‘temporary’ and ‘terrorists’. People hear those key words in a survey and think this is a small inconvenience to avoid allowing terrorists to come into the US as refugees. I’m surprised the approval number isn’t higher.
snowmanParticipantBuffalo
2014, before Kromer, 30th
2015, with Kromer, 8th
2016 11thYes, but in 2014 the Bills used Kyle Orton and EJ Manuel at QB, and starting in 2015 they had Tyrod Taylor. Hard to say how much of the improvement in 2015-16 was due to Kromer or due to having a QB who is better at avoiding a sack.

January 24, 2017 at 12:36 pm in reply to: ESPN: It might be time for the Rams to splurge on a #1 receiver #64261snowmanParticipantA better offensive line will give Goff time to find one of our current group of receivers. New England keeps winning with a great O line and Brady, and a bunch of ‘who’s that’ at WR aside from Gronk.
January 9, 2017 at 1:55 pm in reply to: Trump is such a baby: Meryl Streeps speech and Trump's reaction. #62938snowmanParticipantwe have a 70 year old man with the sensitivity and reactions of a teenager expressed daily on Twitter account… Complete Embarrassment……
It will be a media circus for as long as he is in office. Anybody can tweet about him and he will react; like Pavlov’s dog. He will need Pence to run his meetings while he tweets a response to every criticism from anyone, anywhere, at all hours of the day.
snowmanParticipantI would prefer that he leave.
For as good as the defense has been overall, looking at the stats, Williams was give n a wealth of high draft picks and still we give up too many big plays and collapse in the 4th quarter. For what he had to work with, I expect a Steel Curtain type defense even with the injuries to Quinn, et al.
I could not help but notice Coty Sensabaugh playing fairly well for the Giants yesterday. He was completely unseless for the Rams, how could Spags make him an effective corner when Williams could not and gave up on him so quickly?
snowmanParticipantA few of us on this board live in the Twin Cities. Let’s keep an eye on the schedule and maybe we can get together for this game.
snowmanParticipantI really hope that Brandon Wegher gets a shot at special teams and maybe third RB. he was featured on “Undrafted” a couple of years ago and looked like a solid player. Scored once or twice in preseason with the Panthers.
snowmanParticipantThanks for the link, I like the rearrange-able bar chart showing power generation by state.
snowmanParticipantHiring friends like Gregg Williams
IMO GW was a great hire.
.
Meh, I am not impressed by GW. He had the benefit of having a bunch of high first round picks on the D-line and (I assume) a free hand from Fisher to scheme and run the defense as he wanted, and we still give up yards and points like Cleveland. And the loss to Miami was a defensive collapse in the last 10 minutes of the game; the defense did not carry the offense to a difficult win often enough. And how hard did Fisher/Snead even look for DC? He made up his mind even before the fallout from Bountygate that he was going to retain GW. I’m just saying this defense has had some great games, some bad ones, and just has not established itself despite having the talent to do so.

December 14, 2016 at 1:57 pm in reply to: how many of these movies have you seen? an arbitrary list #61044snowmanParticipantI have seen less than half of them, and I watched the older ones on TV when I was a lot younger. Of the movies on that list, my favorite is Brazil. It’s like Terry Gilliam looked 30 years into the future and wrote that.
snowmanParticipantHe signed a two year contract extension so I think he stays for two years. We will not know if he stays longer until this time in 2018.
snowmanParticipantHead coach is less important than talent on the field. Head coach is less important than the collective talent of his staff.
snowmanParticipantIt just struck me that these posts generally say the same things about Fisher’s coaching skills, personnel decisions and career results, but we disagree on whether they are reasons or excuses. If you want to objectively look at his record, you have reasons why he has struggled. If you want to evaluate him as a head coach, you see the reasons as excuses.
snowmanParticipantI’m just glad that they are not on national tv anymore so maybe this embarrassing excuse for a team might go unnoticed in most of the country.
