November 23, 2016 at 1:21 pm in reply to: and the answer is more complicated than you might think #59321snowmanParticipant
To me it’s simple salesmanship regardless of income or education. Trump’s campaign did a better job of selling him as a champion of “the people” and an agent of change, and painting Hillary as crooked. Voters ignored his personality, his alck of political experience, his clear potential for conflict of interest and the hipocracy in his message of creating jobs in America while employing people overseas. Elections are popularity contests, not a judgement of who is the most qualified.
snowmanParticipantI didn’t see the game but it seems like the same thing happened today that has been going on for years – anemic offense and undisciplined defense equals another close loss.
snowmanParticipantMy wife and I voted early, albeit late afternoon on Monday. Election staff were working hard, but were kind of overwhelmed with the turnout when we were there, and we had to wait about an hour to cast our vote. We drove by our polling place on our way to work this morning and saw that that the parking lot was full, but no lines outside the building.
snowmanParticipantMaybe Fisher planted that newstory about Goff ‘not’ being ready,
because he secretly planned all along on starting him versus Carolina.Or maybe he double-secretly planted that newstory so that Carolina would
think that he planted the story, but really intends to start Goff — only Fisher
really intends to start Keenum.Or maybe he triple-secretly didnt plant the story, but intends to start Mannion.

vOr a bye week trade for Bradford.
October 25, 2016 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Fred Roggin of NBC says Fisher has four games to prove himself… #56078snowmanParticipantAccording to TST, he said this in the Eric Dickerson show…
Jason Stewart @JasonStewart
“From what I am hearing, Jeff Fisher’s fate will be sealed after the next four games.” – @FredNBCLA on The @EricDickerson show just now
4:37 PM – 24 Oct 2016 · Bellflower, CA, United StatesNext 4 games are Carolina, at NY Jets, Miami, at New Orleans. All winnable games.
Of course, it isn’t mentioned how many of these next four games he has to win.
I never heard of Fred Roggin before. Have no idea how reliable he is.
Fred Roggin might be hearing this from other writers/reporters, and is doing what a lot of sports media people do – turn the speculative comments of those outside the organization into a potential event from “sources”.
snowmanParticipantWinnbrad, I am glad that you are OK. Take care of yourself, health problems can happen to anyone.
snowmanParticipantAnd that seems to be exactly what zn wants.
Hey.
Yes yes yes there’s a diabolical plan and so forth.
But I have feelings too you know.
I always like the Butterchurners uniforms.

The ‘table’ said that the star of the team in Hollywood, was the DLine, which wasn’t very “LA”.
Right, cuz nobody in LA ever warmed up to Fred Dryer or Merlin Olsen.
The LA stereotype will never go away, but it is as stupid as any other stereotype.
Well, you know you have REALLY made it in Hollywood if you play a headhunter on Gilligan’s Island.
snowmanParticipantHe doesn’t speak for the People’s interest otherwise he wouldn’t be criticized, despised and villified by the People as he has been and will continue to be.
snowmanParticipant“The Will of the People” is a thing that does not exist but is used over and over again by political salespeople to convince each other that their position has unanimous support. It gets really funny and ironic when The Will of the People is trotted out to convince the very same People to vote a certain way.

September 21, 2016 at 9:57 am in reply to: Trump used $258,000 from his charity to settle legal problems #53486snowmanParticipantI think that it’s too bad for the Repubs he stole the nomination.
He won the nomination fair and square. He ran against the establishment and won. He will do the same against Ildabeast who truly stole her nomination.
Yeah, Trump won the nomination by being more entertaining and interesting than the rest of the flawed, beige candidates he ran against. Hillary was basically anointed before the primaries started, she didn’t steal anything.
September 21, 2016 at 9:49 am in reply to: The Los Angeles Rams fan experience doesn't seem to be too great #53485snowmanParticipantMaybe park a Walmart trailer with water and stuff in the back of the parking lot in case you need it.
snowmanParticipantJack, I found your facebook page but could not find the Million Fan March against Fisher. I would like to read what fans are saying – link?
snowmanParticipantDonald pinched the back of Patton’s neck, a receiver for the Niners. I did not see the contact with the referee that followed. Donald totally lost it and slammed his helmet on the ground after being ejected. Reminds me of the Turley helmet-toss.
snowmanParticipantI am a bit disappointed that Ian Seau did not make our practice squad. He showed a lot of hustle.
snowmanParticipantI’m glad that Hemingway made the cut. he is listed as a TE but he is kind of a WR hybrid.
Concerned a bit about offensive line depth. Saffold and Rhaney can play a couple of spots with Havenstein coming off the bench, but I hope we don’t need to rely on Arkin and Murphy for more than a few snaps per game.
The Rams website still lists Ayers at LB, and even as a starter. Depth at LB concerns me, maybe just because I don’t recognize the names.
Carrying only three safeties, not sure if that’s typical or not.
snowmanParticipantIf I remember correctly, Bridgewater suffered a torn ACL, torn MCL and dislocated kneecap.
snowmanParticipantWent to the game, here is what I think.
I think Goff is not close to ready. He plays with little sense of urgency or energy, he does not move much in the pocket to improve his view or throwing lane, he missed open receivers at least twice with high throws. He appears to drop back with confidence in the pocket, then kind of forget why he’s there. Personally, I think he was outplayed by the Vikings rookie QB, Joel Stave. I thought Mannion looked at least as good as Goff. I am fine with Goff holding a clipboard for this season behind Keenum, then compete for the starting job again next year.
I think the Rams will be one of, maybe the best, rushing offenses in the NFL this year. This team can run block and we have backs with size and strength, but can make tacklers miss too. This can make play action passes effective.
I think the Viking cheerleaders are for the most part small breasted but athletic and they never stop smiling.
I think the Rams defense is stout and has depth of talent. Another poster mentioned Morgan Fox, he was a standout. Akeem Ayers sniffed out a bootleg by Stave in the second quarter and destroyed the play. Cody Davis is a quality safety.
I think the new Vikings stadium looks better from the outside, though it has some nice features on the inside. Two big jumbotrons (do they still call them that?) at both ends of the field; they had the big doors open throughout the game, letting in some fresh air and mosquitoes; I like how they sort of flicker the lights when the Vikings score – that’s a cool effect; glass along much of the outside lets natural light into the concourse and field area; glass wall instead of metal railings so the view from the first row was not obscured. And the in-game announcer had this “voice of God” vibe. Whenever the Rams faced a third down, low, rumbling music would play and God would say in a deep, baritone threatening voice, “IT’S THIRD DOWN, AND SEVEN YARDS TO GO!” Literally gave me chills, like if we don’t get this, were all gonna die!
I think we are going to come up short of making the playoffs, but be one of those teams “in the hunt” up until the end. i think our running game will be excellent and our defense will be very good; we will go as far as our passing game will let us.
snowmanParticipantthat sucks for spruce.
I immediately thought of Danny Amendola. How athletic and fast he was when healthy, which wasn’t often enough for us.
snowmanParticipantI don’t know how to do it in numbers.
I would say that Fisher is a coach on par with guys like John (not Jim) Harbaugh, Coughlin, Kubiak, Payton, and Rivera. Things fall right and they can win a superbowl. That’s his “tier.”
Snead? He’s a top GM. Who else has picked 2 rookies of the year? Who else has picked 2 top corners in the same draft? What other team lost 2 RBs in the space of 2 years and the result is they’re in an off-season where they have 3 very good #2 RBs (Cunningham, Brown, Green) and can only keep 2…without spending a single draft pick on any of them.
I agree with the Fisher comparisons, especially Coughlin. Maybe Andy Reid too.
I also think Snead is a very good GM. I think he handles a draft better than just about anyone in the NFL. He has traded down, traded up, moved around a little within middle rounds, and drafted some very, very good talent. He has been less successful in the free agent side of the business though. Jared Cook, Jake Long, Cortland Finnegan… pretty lousy. He has guts to make big roster moves like releasing Laurinitis and Chris Long.
snowmanParticipantfreedom = least regulated. Funny how the most populated states are the least “free”.

snowmanParticipantWhat the heck is a “democratized work-force”? You mean a boss couldn’t tell a worker: “you know Mr. Smith this is not a democracy here. You do have a choice in the matter. You can follow our rules or you can go to work some place else.”
Not sure I know what a democratized workforce is either, but I have never worked in an environment where the boss makes rules that everyone is required to follow or get fired. A smart boss will ask for input from his/her employees because they are the ones doing the work, they know how it can be done better. Far too many bosses have never done the job of the people they supervise, yet they demand respect.
snowmanParticipantTrump wants to amend it to exclude Mexicans and Muslims.
snowmanParticipantHappy belated birthday Dak!
snowmanParticipantHmmm, I might have to go to the September 1 game…
snowmanParticipantMonths ago during the primaries, Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and his poll numbers would still go up. I think he sincerely believes that he can and should continue to be a pompous ass because he thinks that is how he won the Republican nomination. He thinks that being a dick is the way to win the election against Hillary.
snowmanParticipantRobinson is still just 23 years old, he needs time to mature and improve his skills like most young players, so I’m not too concerned.
